i think i shouldve made the legs go back further but heres my first attempt at a walk cycle..(or some walking with a bit of other stuff)

treadmil walk cycle thing

It was pretty cool in the beginning. But the butt of the legs should be moving up and down. The lowest point should be when the both feets are as long away from each other as possible. And then as you said: make the legs go further back.

Looks pretty good tho the leg needs to slide back more before it rises up, are you laying out the extremes and then inbetweening?

Looks good Alero. Try adding a smoother movement between the frames and for the second one I noticed you have a plain circle around the flame to indicate light. Using a radial gradient to fill the circle with a low alpha seems to look a little better from what I've seen.

Also, you've probably seen this before but its good reference and it can transfer to candles, torches, etc. with ease. http://www.oohbitey.com/bitey/campfire.htm

Liked your walk from before aswell :)

:) well the stick man one is at 12 frames per second and was done with a mouse, the robot one was animated at 30 FPS with a tablet.

Wow that's really well done. How long it take?
I loved the part where he lifted up the building. Nicely done, good sense of weight, the monster felt heavy.

My biggest suggestion is that the shade of blue used for the monster's face didn't contrast enough with the colour of his body, would be better darker so it's more readable.

Nicely done!

Hi all, been working on some general character movements..

Here's a simple head moving from side to side. I know the lines are a bit wobbley and overall it looks a bit dodgy, but it's just a practise. The mouth is supposed to change sides at the head moves. The eyebrows look a bit crap but like I say it's just a practise. Think it's OK?

and the eye brows go up when they should be going down, because as they get farther away from the camera then they would look smaller so they would get closer to the eye not farther away. if that made any sense, ;)

hmm, not sure what you mean about the mouth. It's supposed to change sides as the head moves pointing toward the camera. (it's just the way i've designed the character)

I think I know what you mean  I wanted the eyebrows to change position as the head moved. So the left eye brow being the lowest and the Right one the highest, as the head moves the Right one ends up being the highest and the left one ends up being the lowest. ( I hope that makes sense  )

Though looking at at it now the eye brows are very jumpy and sloppy.

Thanks for the crits guys

:D B)

Thank you :) i cant remember exactly, I think from start to finish it was about a month and a half, i never got really seriouse about it though i just kindoff did it whenever i got tired of doing homework or if i had absolutely nothing else to do.

your right about the face, when i was doing it i was trying to think of ways to make his face stand out more cause i wanted his expressions to show really good, but being the noob that i was and still am i never really thought about making it a different color, oh well live and learn i guess.

My first post in this thread, and my first character animation in 3d studio max:
It's a weird little guy walking two steps then turns around to look in the camera.

Started as a random FBF-testing with a character of mine, but then decided to do backgrounds and try out doing some fancy camera-movements.
