Hey, obviously I'm new here, so I thought I should contribute something first :D

so this is a story idea I've had for awhile, well here goes:

Jay took another step through the thick mud of the swamp. My mother was right, he thought, I should've been a lawyer. Or at least a biologist. but a paranormal researcher? bad move. He took another sloshy mucky step and found purchase on the relatively dry bank.

It had been a week since he had overheard that old man in that backwood tavern, talking about giant birds taking the fish on his string lines. Great, Jay had thought, maybe It's a garuda thunderbird, or maybe even the mothman! Being foolish as a young man usually will, he had rushed off to the swamps, and for six days had seen nothing but snakes, mud, and the occasional gator nostrils.

as he took yet another he said " If I see another damn tree I'm gon-" and paused mid-sentence, and all rational thought stopped as he viewed the glorious image perched on the log 5 or 6 feet away.

Her feather's were the brightest most passionate shade of crimson he'd ever seen, with a bird's folded body but also with a soft and femminine pale human face and round perky breasts. Her long luxourios plumes curled all around her.

jay's mind began to race. I've done it! I'll be a god! I'll be rich from all the merchandising alone! They'll put me on cereal boxes!!!

As these fantasies passed through his counscience, he never heard the sweeping feathers, he only felt the sharp pain after the talons had passed through where his adam's apple should be.

As Jay lie dying in the clutches of her mates trap, he thought "Damn, I should've been a doctor."

whew, there done. So whadja think? :worry:

Love the harpy

It was an okay story... I think it should've been longer/more developed
...Garuda and the Thunderbird are different beings. Garuda is an Asian God (I forget which religion though), while the Thunderbird was a creature from Indian folklore

thanks I liked the harpy idea alot

and thanks for clearing up the garuda thing. I got mixed up by john keel's book
(mothman prophecies) where it hints at them being the same.
AND I'm still working on the story so i'll get started on the details of the plot.
