Maybe someone using external swf can give me an insight I have a test game, on its own no problem all is fine. When I load it in a flash main stage loadMovie("thegame.swf", "thegamei"); I see the game but its not functional, the keys dont respond and even the trace inside the hero's enterframe does not show up it was in the hero mc itself initially as onClipEvent(enterFrame){ then I tried in the thegamei clips main timeline instead as heroguy.onEnterFrame = function() { trace("ok"); when that didnt work I even tried to put the code in the main stage movieclip as thegamei.heroguy.onEnterFrame = function() { trace("ok"); and the ok trace does not show up. besides the dynamic-text-behind-mask problem I had, I have had no problems loading and using non game swf (presentation, drag and drop, etc) but its the first gamish movieclip I try to load. hum, now that I think about it everything else I've done thru loaded swf uses the mouse but not the keyboard keys... any ideas? |

This is probably due to using _root. If you ever used _root.child to reference anything, it will screw up, because now the _root is one "branch" higher. Instead, you must go back and change them all to relative targets, like _parent._parent.child. The only exception, I think, is when referring to the mouse. That will still be _root._xmouse or _ymouse or whatever. Give it a shot |
