Hello there, new to the posting stuff here, I think this is my second one or something. Most of you will probably think:"Oh look, another stupid topic" Maybe it is, we will see Anyways, I'd like to ask you some questions, if that's ok 1.When you draw things, how do you keep your juices flowing, or, in a more simple way, how do you keep on being creative, and keep on getting new ideas? Basically, what do you draw the most? 2.Animation. Some exercises to start animating. Which ones are the best to start with? I've done a little animation before, but nothing cool looking, just simple stuff, so I'm a beginner still. 3.Writing stories. For animation or comics. Coming up with fun, cool, real looking and yet strange characters, stories and countrysides. How do you do it? Writing it down bit by bit, or all at once? If you find the time, please answer, I'll be most grateful Wasting time, GM

Welcome to BW.
I'll try to answer your questions from my experience. 1. It's not easy. If you have a good idea and you know how to get it done, it's a matter of persistence. As long as you don't overwork yourself and don't get burnt out, you should be fine. 2. Practice. Just open up Flash and start animating. Personally, I learned from seeing stuff I liked on Newgrounds, and tried doing something similar. It's gonna take a while. A long while, even. Don't expect results in a week or two. Took me 4 years. 3. If you don't have any writing skills like me, you could try looking for stories online. There's plenty of literature there. Just don't forget to ask the writer permission to use his story. Hope that helps.

1. It is tough to keep working on one single project, drawing many different things just comes with inspiration. One large project will tie you down seeing as you have to work as every role. some times (like mycurrent situation) you can work on a couple of large projects so planning and knowing exaclty what point each project is at is very essential. 2. (link) this place has some usefull practices, covering the basics. 3. development, making a crap story/set of characters and ironing out the weaknesses to eventually end up with strong fully developed characters and story line. |

"1.When you draw things, how do you keep your juices flowing, or, in a more simple way, how do you keep on being creative, and keep on getting new ideas? Basically, what do you draw the most?" I found that this is different for me than for most people for one simple reason, drawing and creating is my life, if i go on a plane flight i keep looking out the window studying the clouds, i sit at a cafe and i see someone with a limp i take note of it and use it in a drawing later on. Your probably thinking that this isnt answering the question but it is, because when your life revolves around art in such away your brain begins to build up a library of ideas and thoughts, and you access it subconsciously. But also creativity is a learn't skill, it isnt something that most people have straight away, only through exercising the mind do you get to those awesome ideas. You rarely see a new person to drawing but has tons of original ideas. |
