Welcome to Broken Worlds! This is an in-depth examination of our rules and policies, definitions and expectations of members, staff, and ranks. Although we do not expect all members to know this page to the letter, we expect you to at least use it as a reference and meet the base policies. Our most basic policies, which are expected of all members, are highlighted in red.
General forum Rules, Policies & Etiquette
- OOC Forums
-
The OOC (Out of Character) forums are a place for all members to sit back, relax, and talk about things other than roleplaying. Share your interests and participate as much as you'd like. Please note that not all OOC forums up your post count, since we have certain in character post-reliant promotions and upgrades for members. All OOC forums, and the cbox are out of character zones. Please do not postin character in these locations. We ask that any posts in these sections are PG-13, as with the rest of the forum. Writers Corner and Graphics Gallery have their own rules, located below.
- News
-
News is placed on the News & Updates page, located in the navigation bar. We also send out newsletters with the most important information. We would like all members to be updated in the happenings of the forum. If you have difficulty locating this News & Updates section, please contact a staff member for assistance.
- Signatures & Avatars
-
We ask that you keep your signatures short and to the point. You may use an image, but please try to keep it smaller than 300x650 pixels. We ask this so that it does not take forever to load a page bogged down with graphics. Any pornographic or adult images will be deleted immediately.
- Personal Information
-
Members have many features available to them thanks to the hard work of the many people who created Zetaboards. At the administration's digression, we have decided to keep as many of these features as possible available to members. This includes the ability to have a blog, character journal, and you can even upload your own photos. We ask that you do not post pictures of yourself, your family, your friends or your house on this forum. (Pictures of your dogs, cats, birds and fish are welcome though!) This is a safety issue. We also ask that you do not post personal information, such as your address or phone number anywhere on this site. Once again DO NOT DISCLOSE PERSONAL INFORMATION. Any member who is caught asking for personal information will be deleted.
- Advertising
-
Any bots, or advertisers will be deleted immediately. We ask that you Affiliate with us, by Emailing Rosaline with a link to your forum. Any member who wishes to affiliate with us must also put our link on their front page. If this does not happen, their link will be deleted from our affiliates. Please do not post advertisements for other boards on our website.
- Language
-
We ask that all users use proper English when posting. We do not have English teachers monitoring our site and we will not punish for an out of place comma, but we do ask that you do use proper grammar and spelling to the best of your ability. Please do not use chatspeak, or 1337 speak, or any of that. Also, swearing is allowed, but please keep it to a minimum.
- Sexual Harassment
-
Sexual harassment is a serious punishable offense. If any member is found sending derogitory comments, making sexual advances, etc. They will be deleted from the forum immediately.
- Double Posting
-
Here at Broken Worlds, post count is used to promote characters. Therefore, double posting (posting twice in a row without another individual's response between) is not allowed. If anyone wishes to do a roleplay alone, with multiple posts, in a sort of self-exploratory nature, this needs to be cleared with a staff member. Double posting is also not allowed in roleplays, debates, games, or contests. You can always edit a post to add more information.
- Post Count
-
Many of our forum promotions are based on post count. Even in order to become an accepted member, new members need a minimum of 5 posts to have their character accepted. There are certain forums which DO NOT count towards post counts because we believe it would be unfair. The forums which do not increase personal post count are: Forum Games, Introductions & Announcements, Aways, Returns & Departures, Roleplay Requests, Help and Suggestions, and Contests. All other forums are fair game.
- Inactivity
-
Any member who is inactive for more tan 6 months without notifying the staff will be deleted. All unfinished roleplays of this member will be archived, and their character will be retired. Members can save themselves from this fate by posting a simple away message in the "Aways, returns, and departures" forum.
- Conflicts
-
Any conflicts among members should be reported to Administrators directly. Member conflicts should not be reported to moderators or Emissaries. When making a complaint, please be specific. We are not to be referees of real life relationship events. If someone abuses their right to report conflicts in this manner, they will be deleted.
- Member Ranks
-
Members have different ranks on the forum. These are defined by color, and permissions set by the administration. Generally, these ranks are marked by post count, and new abilities are fairly evident to the users. An in depth definition of member ranks and abilities will be posted on a seperate page at another time.
Roleplaying
- Characters
-
Your character profile is the first impression you leave on the members and staff of Broken Worlds. We tend to notice that a short, bare bones profile leads to a member who posts short, one or two line responses. This is not what we want to see on Broken Worlds. Here, we are dedicated to developing characters and improving writing for members. This can not be done with short responses. Therefore, the longer and more descriptive your character profile is, the more likely you are to be accepted on your first attempt. Members are given 3 chances to get their character up to scrub before facing deletion.
- Time Lines
-
Time Lines are now a vital part of every character's design. This is also your second step in the application process. This is a newer feature of Broken Worlds, but we believe that it will help members new and old to keep track of where we have been, and where we are going as characters. Now you can jump into a roleplay with someone knowing that their family member was just killed and can act accordingly, as an example.
- Post Minimums
-
We ask that you post a minimum of 3 sentences per post. Please note that this is a low requirement. It is very difficult to respond to nothing, and just dialogs won't do. Be descriptive and help your fellow members! You'll be invited to more roleplays too! Many members do self-police this, and multiple offences may result in banning or suspension.
- Godmoding
-
Godmoding is defined as overstepping your boundaries. If your character is attacked with 12 throwing swords, and they DON'T have any sort of special agility or power that could get them out of it, they CAN NOT walk away without a scratch. At the same time, even if a character DOES have a power that would protect them, even they have a fallibility and will sustain damage. Basically, when you are in a battle, you NEED to be injured. You can not win the battle without is a serious offense to any roleplayer. This is an offense that members will self police, so be careful. Repeat offenses WILL result in deletion or suspension.
- Sexual Content & Swearing
-
According to the Zetaboards terms and conditions, we are not allowed to support any pornographic, nude, or sexual material of any kind. Our attention has been brought to this by recent events and we now need to enforce this rule in order to have Broken Worlds remain out of danger of deletion. We ask that all Roleplays be kept PG-13. Any Roleplays above that rating will be trashed. Members can still mention sexual acts, but must show restraint. As with PG-13 movies, some sexual content may be there but it is subtle. Members who participate in xx roleplays will be punished according to their age. Anyone under the age of 17 who is caught participating in an xx roleplay, faces suspension and/or deletion. As swearing goes, we ask that you keep it to a minimum in all posts. Understanding that it is a part of a character's personality, we will be more lenient with swearing in in-character areas, but would appreciate it if members kept the OOC area as clean as possible.
- Jobs
-
Real-time jobs for your characters are available to all members. By doing these jobs, you are able to up your post count faster, and will possibly get more promotions. You may be in higher demand to roleplay with as well, since your job could service other characters. For example, shop keepers may open a store and then people who need the supply of that store for roleplays will visit them to post with them. Shop owners can also hire others to work in their stores, etc. For more information about the jobs offered in Ris'Mos, click here
- Secondary Characters
-
Members are allowed to have characters besides the one that they signed up with. This is a tool which can help with storylines, or it might just be fun to try your hand at being something else for a little while. There are certain terms which must be followed in order to have a secondary character, and keep that character. The terms for having a seondary character are as follows.
- Members must have a MINIMUM of 25 posts in order to get their first secondary character. You are allowed to have one secondary character per 25 posts. This assures that you remain active on your main account.
- You may only portray 3 secondary characters (with your main character, totaling 4 accounts) at one specific time. If you wish to create another character, one of these secondary characters must be dis activated, retired, or deleted.
- Main accounts MUST remain active in order to keep a secondary account. If a main character has not roleplayed in more than 3 months, you risk losing your secondary character privileges. Secondary characters may be retired, and accounts can be deleted if this happens.
- Secondary characters are not ellegable for Emissaryship, shopkeeping, or any other real time job available on the forum as of right now.
Other Important Regulations The following are links of referance that all members should at least be familliar with. Many of them repeat sentiments given here, but each may have its own little twist. Since, there are exceptions to every rule, please check the rules of these specific forums before posting in them.
