Before Humans came into existence their were different creatures who ruled the lands. No not the Dinosaurs, they were our invention to hide the truth. Some don't want to know the truth others pretend it isn't really their, some are just completely oblivious, but we are still here. Here is a glimpse into our history, our lifestyles, and our existence.
Long ago, the human curiosity put unnatural and different creatures into a place of mystery. With human instinct, they are afraid of what they do not know and so put us into a bad spot. Fear inspired violence and violence in turn, created fear in a vicious cycle that spun out of control, giving the "supernatural" as we were later labeled, no place of sanctuary. A war waged for years before we decided to civilly take matters into our own hands. Creatures of all kinds joined together and combined their power to create our own sanctuary. In an attempt of many to save our kind, and end the conflict, we created the world of Ris'mos and closed ourselves off from the human world.
You still may not understand who "we" really are. We are the creatures of the "supernatural" kind. We are Vampires, Demons, Dragons, Witches, Werewolves, Angels, Elves and hundreds more. We are what the humans considered freaks and circus acts born with curses, not gifts. We are the creatures of the night that haunt humans in their sleep, or the creatures of the light that children learn about in fairytales.
A huge percentage of humans no longer realize that we are still in existence, only a world away. There were some of our kind that stayed behind during the time of the great separation. As a collective council, the leaders of each kind came together in what is now known as Ris'mos castle and decided upon the creation of portals, doorways between the worlds. Only eight are currently known of. These portals are to be protected by the Khon Tun at all times, assuring the safety of Ris'mos. Travel between portals is typically only one sided. Our kind travel between Ris'mos and the human world as they please. Ris'mosian children, especially those who use humans as a food source, are taught of at least one portal location. Humans have been kept in the dark for centuries as of to the locations of our portals. The only one that they have discovered, and it was accidental, was the portal that connects the Ris'Mos ocean, with the Bermuda Triangle. Occasionally, human believers are shown these portals, by either a creature whom they have gained the trust of, or by accident. No one can pass through the portal if they do not believe in our existence.
We have developed right alongside the humans in every way, including economically, socially and technologically. The Ris'mosians have a government and social system unlike any in the human world. The castle is filled with emissaries. There is one emissary for each species. These emissaries are elected by their predecessors. Predecessors choose an intern to work with them for 25 years before being installed into office. 25 years may seem like a long time, but we have lifespans that are no comparison to the human lifespan. In that 25 years, they prove their ability, loyalty and accountability.
The world of Ris'mos continues to grow and form just as the human world. Ris'mos is a place thriving with history. We have our problems just as the human world, but we pride ourselves on our sophistication, understanding and background. Heritage is huge here, as it should be. Maybe someday our worlds will once again join and be able to trust each other. But for now, we live in the shadows.
