^^^^^^ I LOVE Sabriel Lirael & Abhorsen...Absolute MASTERPIECE!!!!Fantastic books![despite the fact that I read them in the wrong order, Lirael, Abhorsen then Sabriel.oopsies!] Yerr, i think that everyone has the potential to churn out a masterpiece, and that was certainly Garth Nix's!!!Ive read what is out of his "Keys to the kingdom" series...Mister Monday, Grim Tuesday and all that. They arent nearly as good...but easyer to follow! okay...im gonna keep this as short as possible...That could be difficult as ive read so many fabby books...but awkward for you guys as ive noticed that most people on theese rpg sites are American and I am Scottish [not English, mebbe British...but most definately Scottish, and proud of it!!!] so you might not be able to get your paws on some of the books. Where to start...Harry Potters were amazing obv. but I was ready for that series to end...it was becoming predictable, and it was the same basic plot in all of them. And in the last one *spoiler warning..look away if you havent read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and are planning to in the near future* [take out all symbols and it will make sense] W)hen* H[a#rr.y I.s W/a456lking D8*own T89o T45h855e F8o9r]=bi'#dd089en F85or345e90-s=24t & Y35o86u Th2355i098n33[-k H[087e''#s G584o[;i564n244g T5-o D756544i87e, I W90887a98s M4844o-==r65e U7985p909s-]['e876t a977b08766o7656u755t T087h087e F0966a599+c556t T09-h224a977t H9876980e D89i08975d'#'[4.n9078987-''t S45874a566y B778y86565e T90897o G9766i0988967n0977n988y!!! Apologies for messed up writing, but it would be unfair to spoil it for people who actually want to read it, even though most people who are going to care have already read it, just incase. Also, just recently read H.I.V.E. [Higher Institute If Villainous Education] by Mark Walden, it was really good, though I felt it was aimed at slightly younger readers than me, it made a refreshing change from the usual type of books i read. the blurb reads as follows You have been selected, all of you, the worst, the most cunning, the most mischievous minds from around the world-selected to become part of an institution like no other. Each of you has within you a rare quality, a gift if you will, a special talent for the supremely villainous. Thirteen year old master criminal Otto Malpense has been chosen to attend the top secret school of villainy. His skills in Global Domination will be developed to rival the worlds most dastedly villain. But there is one small catch-he cannot leave until his training is complete. There is no way otto is going to spend six years studying for something he has such a natural talent for. He is left with one option.Escape. He just needs to figure out hiw. Along the lines of teenage master Criminals, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer [Irish Writer] Are So FUNNY!!!!! I discovered them several years ago, and still look foreward toreading books from the same series. They are absolutely HILARIOUS!!!!And will never fail to make you laugh. the series so far is as follows [there may be more, theese are only the ones which I have managed to find] Artemis Fowl Artemis Fowl - The Arctic Incident Artemis Fowl - The Eternity Code Artemis Fowl - The Opal Deception Artemis Fowl - cant remember the name..but was definately the funniest so far!!! [Yerr...Shall try and find a blurb online for you guys later when i have more time...but I cant leave the computer to find my copy because someone else will swipe my seat.] The Alex Rider books by Antony Horowits [Stormbreaker, Point Blank, Skeleton Key, etc] are AMAZING!!!!He is like a young James Bond with style!!!!!!! The Cherub series by Robert Muchamore is also amazing!!Like Alex Rider, but with slightly more kick and realism...i.e. theese kids actually do have vulnerabilities that get played upon quite alot....though I highly reccoment both Cherub and Alex Rider for the full experience.... You know what?Im just gonna PM Rozzy and see if she can open up another section of the book club for us to put up the blurb and our review of a particular book...one book or series to a post. That would be so much easyer!!!! But all of above are highly reccomended...those are what first sprung to my mind.... OH and Phillip Pullmans His Dark Materials. "The golden Compass" film is based on the books, but from the trailer..will not do the books any justice whatsoever...casting of Lyra is completely wrong!!!!Anyway, those are Phillip Pullmans masterpiece DEFO!!! |
