Ok after some thinking and some 'research' I use the term lightly I'm going to kick things off.

Should we go out and colonize space? If so, why?

No we shouldn't. On the most part this is a waste of time and money. this fixation on trying to reach the heavens and explore out of space can't happen. It's psyically and probably biologically impossible.

My proof behind this is 'the speed of light'and the concept of light years. I predict that within the amount of time that humans have left and i'm being realistic here on this planet there is no way that we will ever be able to develop the technology or the engine power fast enough to even make instellar or even interplanetary travel a means for the general public en masse.

The way that our global economies and resource consumption even if everyone got along meant that at the current rate were going Humans as a species have only about 5000 years ahead of us on this planet. In the future and the very near future consumption will increase and this number will decline dramatically. Even if we did get to the moon or saturns moons. There isn't enough basic general resources availible on those planets to even think about restarting the planet to what it was. It would be a last ditch attemp and gamble to try and keep resources going and it would fail.

Interstellar travel is even more laugh able. Whats the point in building space crart and veichles and even testing them in space claiming to be the next step toward interstellar travel when they are out paced by simply lighting a match. Even if they could get a ship to go that fast the nearest galaxy with habitbal planets is like 340 light years away. So they'd need a gitatic crew, a large enough space to hold all of these people. A strict and effience enough command so when the old people die the mission carries on. Enough food and water and oxygen that would survive during light speed related and enclosed conditions for 340 years. They would need to hope like hell that no one decided to rebel or else that mission is gone. Not to mention that they'd need a recycleable feul that could run conditinously at th max burn or whatever for 340 years NON stop. Like thats ever going happen? what are they gonna use solar power? Once they get past pluto theres hardly enough to fuel a small satelite with a telescope let alone a giant flying barge at god knows how many million miles an hour.

Done for now
