Characters you may want to read the bio of before reading: Ambika Zanobi Xeious Zbhlis Note from the author: Do not read the summaries if you want it to be a surprise! However, some summaries aren't of actual topics, so you may want to sift through them. Seeing as I get to write this out of character, there are things that I can explain that weren't well explained in the topics (namely “The Price of Blood” and “It's All Tied Together”). Furthermore, this also explains events that were only slightly mentioned in topics and never mentioned in my history, so even if you've read the topics there is useful information for you. This is the chronicle of my entire first story arc which, most of it at least, was preplanned after Kas died in “The Other Side”. Although a little convoluted and filled with odd plot twists and deus-ex-machina, it has its moments and explains how Kas became the person he currently is. I will reply to this topic whenever another big plot point for Kas comes up to let you all know what has happened. Another note is that this only includes the most important topics regarding his plotline, so I haven't included them all. Anyway, enjoy my hard work! Character Theme Song: "Paradise Lost" by Sympony X. Events before Kashar's lifetime... A Lost Love (briefly mentioned in a couple topics and heavily mentioned in “The Price Of Blood ” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89833/1/ ) : Long ago, two Dragons fell headstrong into that divine thing that we call love. They lived happily together, this love undying and never fading nourishing their lives. However, like a drought coming onto a land, this love would come to an abrupt end. One night, while flying together, the female Dragon was shot down, and taken away by a form of 'poachers'. The male Dragon desperately followed, only to find that they had ripped out a bone from her body that would, without it, send her soul to hell. She asked him (since he was, coincidently a Carrier) to set her free so that she would not die in pain, calling him 'Kashar', for in their language it meant 'Carrier'... The WAR (mentioned in further detail in “The Other Side” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89620/1/ and in “It's All Tied Together...” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/90143/1/ ) : At some time or another, a gigantic, ruthless war was fought, involving multiple species and multiple styles of fighting; melee, magic, and even things such as guns and bombs, clashed in bloody war. This 'war' was actually only fought and finished during one single day, but there were so many involved that it could not be categorized as something else. In this battle, two main people, although no-one knew where they came from, fought against each other until, in a final act of desperation, one of them seemingly opened up a hole in life to defeat the other. In a flash of light the two were gone, and destinies were changed... The Priests : The act of the two men caused a domino-effect on the rest of life's pattern, for some died that shouldn't have and others lived that should have perished. Not even the current Carriers could right this act. So, seeing this going out of hand, priests of a strange species came together to fix it before it was too late, sacrificing all of their life-energy, and hence dying, to do so. To accomplish this, they also had to use the destroyed souls of the people that shouldn't have died to create a new being; this being was Kyle Bremen, and in the form of a Werewolf (which explains how he could have been born to two humans, since his soul had been manually created). A side effect was that the cause of the incident (the war), along with a specific species of Dragon and their language (that of the two lovers), were almost completely erased from history besides a few rare artifacts... Events during Kashar's lifetime... The Foreshadowing Death (mentioned in further detail in “An Eerie Reunion...” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89650/1/ ) : Back in elementary school, Kyle had very few friends as a human. One day, some bullies started pushing him around in a circle, calling him 'freak', until finally the bell rung and Kyle was left on the pavement. One of his best friends walked over to help him up and touched him on the shoulder. At that moment, the friend dropped to the ground and died in frothing convulsions, foreshadowing that later on, as a Carrier, Kyle would release people's souls with but a single touch... The Raft Incident (mentioned in further detail in “One Warm Spring Night” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89633/1/ ) : The first time that the reflection, Noitcelfer, tried to kill Kyle was during a family rafting trip. The river picked up its pace and overturned their boat, causing everyone to fall out. Oddly enough, some outside protective force (yet unexplained) made Kyle fall onto the water as if it were solid, like glass. Needless to say, if he had fallen through and into the water, Noitcelfer would have killed him. All of the family, never noticing this peculiarity, made it out with minor scratches. The Sight and the Change : At first, Kyle thought that his Sight was normal due to the fact of having no idea what normal was, but after a while of being told it was “just his imagination”, Kyle had started to think different. His Sight, as he found out later, involved colors that others couldn't see; he was seeing souls. When Kyle was too young to understand them, he began having dreams that were parts of his future, and ones that would have been the soul fragments’ memories if they had lived, but since the time period was so long before they happened, Kyle often remembered the dreams only after they had already passed. His “memories” also seemed to end up being metaphors for his life experiences, most of which that hadn’t effected him yet were memories of blood on his claws; a style of memory that chilled him. All of his dreams, fictional or otherwise, ended up disappearing completely as he entered puberty. Kyle ended up taking up music in the form of playing the violin to release his emotions safely. Then, finally one night when he was staying up to finish a research paper and he was stressed, Kyle walked outside to take a break and he felt a tremendous pain; his first Change. During this Change, Kyle had heard the word Kashar (in the form of the memory of the whisper from the dying lover) in his mind and decided it was his name. Kyle (now to be called Kashar) had at first looked at his body in horror, but soon found that he could control it much easier this way. Noticing that this proved that he wasn’t just crazy, Kashar felt elated and began jumping around the neighborhood in the shadows. Night after night Kashar sneaked outside and eventually honed his abilities to a point where he could sometimes get away with Changing during the day! Although Kashar preferred to stay in Werewolf form at any time he could, he told no one, including his own family. There was one person who hinted at similar things at his old school, but he left that person behind when he switched to a different place. He had made it his mission to remember his "past", but did not know to what extent that would cost him. A Friend (revealed later in various posts) : The friend he left behind in middle school originally hated him, and he hated her. Eventually, however, they each came to realize that the other was trustworthy and became quick friends thereafter; they could tell each other things that they could tell no one else, and be assured that the other one would not hate them for it or spill the secret. This friend was Ambika Zanobi. Other people would nickname her 'Sin', but only Kashar called her Ami. Another detail is that whenever she asked if he was fine and he was, he'd answer “Five by Five”, which occasionally annoyed her. Then, in the end, Kashar left and the two parted ways... “The Other Side” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89620/1/ : One day, while walking the streets of New York, Kashar saw a woman in trouble, not knowing that it was a trap. Soon, a gang set up by a being called Noitcelfer started chasing him and cornered him in an alleyway, where he was shot. Coincidentally, a Werewolf named Qlei, even though she hated cities, was wandering around New York at that time, and found Kashar lying on the ground. She tried to save him, but due to Kashar’s abnormal state of having multiple souls, she was sucked into his near death experience/memory. In this memory, they were on a battlefield before the Great Separation (The War). Underneath which, they found a set of passageways. At the end, they entered a giant, eerie, contrasting room where an egg with no soul and the colors of the night sky laid. Upon reaching it, Noitcelfer came into the room and a fight ensued. If the “memory” had been unaltered, Noitcelfer would have received the egg, but since Qlei was there, an anomaly, she altered what had happened by saving it. Kashar ended up dying, however, and that caused him to die in the alleyway. His life would have ended there, except for the fact that, due to the change in the past, the egg was now in reality once more, and without a soul. Since a being cannot live without a soul in the real world, it took the closest, available soul, which happened to be Kashar. A New Birth and the Carriers : Kashar was born, and he grew fast due to his soul being older than his body; a difference that had to become even. He ended up keeping his human form, Kyle Bremen, and his “parents” didn’t know the wiser. He was now a Dragon, and an extinct one at that. He does not have any other forms other than human and Dragon. He had amnesia of the event in which he died and didn’t remember Qlei yet. He also had a task that he is forced to perform occasionally during the night: the task of a Carrier. Carriers are a group of creatures who's task it is to release souls when people die. No matter what happened to the person, if that person died, there was a Carrier to guide them to the afterlife. Carriers always have, or develop, things about themselves that are unusual for their species (Kashar is an extinct type of Dragon, for instance), and all develop the Sight similar to what Kashar has even though he has a much stronger version. Currently, less than 25 people know about the Carriers other than the Carriers themselves. Carriers eventually die, and are replaced with the next one to take their place. This did not happen to Kashar, due to the fact that he ended up being something permanently destroyed in the past; originally there were 12 Carriers, but Kashar became the 13th. Few Carriers ever meet another of their kind, hence why Kashar doesn't know many other Carriers yet. “Letting Go” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89641/1/ : One night, when wondering a set of woods in Germany after completing one of these 'jobs', Kashar stumbled across a portal through which was Ris'Mos. He wandered around for a while and set up camp, not knowing that Rosaline, the Emissary of the Vampires, was sleeping nearby. She woke up and stumbled across where Kashar was. They talked for a while and she introduced him to the world of Ris'Mos, explaining to him all that he needed to know. Thus that night continued in the same fashion. “One Warm Spring Night” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89633/1/ : Later on, Kashar was discovered during one of his 'jobs', breaking the first rule: 'never be seen by anyone except who you are guiding'. This person ended up being Arakho and, after settling a few misunderstandings, the two became quick friends. It was a nice night, and they both relaxed by having a friendly flying competition. “An Eerie Reunion...” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89650/1/ : Yet another time was Kashar discovered during one of his 'jobs', this time in Ris'Mos city. He had been walking to his destination when he had accidentally bumped shoulders with someone. This someone coincidentally turned out to be Qlei. Completely shocked at seeing her 'dead friend', she followed him to an abandoned warehouse where he had just released someone's soul. After settling the current situation of him being alive, the two tried to figure out what was going on. During this time, Qlei was accidentally zapped by one of Kashar's childhood memories when she touched him. Desperately, Kashar helped to revive her using his 'trance'. The meeting continued and the two slowly figured out what had happened and started to help Kashar remember the instance where the two had originally met. Becoming an Emissary : Kashar slowly became accustomed to the life of Ris'Mos, wishing to be able to stay for longer periods of time. In his human form, he convinced his 'parents' that he loved camping and liked to do long experiences in the woods. These 'trips' gave him perfect time to visit Ris'Mos. During this time, the Emissary of Dragons, Lurel Drista, had decided that she wanted to become a mother and didn't want to have to deal with being an Emissary at the same time. For a few years (for what are a few years to a Dragon?) she searched for a good replacement for the job, eventually coming across Kashar. She studied him for a while and decided that he would be a good choice. Thus Kashar was appointed the job of Emissary of Dragons. Currently, Lurel Drista has found a secluded place and has settled down with her lover, and Kashar has been slowly getting used to the task of Emissary and has been trying to find a more permanent solution to staying in Ris'Mos. Kashar has also found that he prefers not being in his office in the city much so he has set up a path of telepathic messages to be sent to him when he actually has work to do. “The Xeious Project: Part 1, The Plague Of Evil” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89798/1/ : On his search for answers to some of his past, Kashar ran across an old book that had a language he'd never seen before, yet inherently knew (that of the two lovers). Inside, the writings said: Atetulesoh merriquerique Kashar nullinakar plolif Xeious den connen le zbhlis-na, atetulesoh. Translated, this meant “The carrier of the plague is fate's untimely beast, awakening in the night with tears...” Just then, there was an emergency call of a hostage situation calling for him to help. Arriving on the scene, he met Sanach and the two worked together to bring down the hostage taker. The man then burned away, using his last breaths to taunt the two. The men's comrades, from a newly formed faction called Virus, then started to attack the city. Nara appeared with Felix, originally looking for Sanach, and the two joined in the battle. During the battle, Kashar ended up getting captured and taken to a research area in the Virus compound, where he got injected with the sentient virus known as Xeious. Sanach, Felix, and Nara arrived on the scene just in time for Xeious's awakening, then he escaped to go attack a blood-bank for energy. Finally, Sanach caught up to Xeious and cornered him, but Xeious escaped by using one last trick. “The Xeious Project: Part 2, Prestige” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89941/1/ : Weeks later, Xeious had hatched a new plan for blood and fame. This time, he had hijacked a television station and had started a 'magic show' that would be broadcast across the city. In this 'show', he trapped the audience and started killing them off one by one until Sanach showed up. Hooking up each member of an audience to a chess piece, Xeious forced Sanach to play him at chess, but he lost to the Dragon and ran. Sanach caught up and fought him until Xeious gained just enough blood to gain control of his draconic form. Thinking quickly, Sanach attacked Xeious with a barrage of spells and kept him from getting blood. In the end, Xeious became exhausted from the lack of blood energy which he needed for the form, ran, and then was so weak that Kashar gained control again. “Old Friends....” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89866/1/ : The wind was gentle as Kashar walked along the top of some buildings around the 'shady lanes' of the city, out on a nightly stroll. Unusually, there was a girl walking down in the alleyways, which Kashar noticed and dropped down to investigate, assuming that either the girl didn't know not to walk around those parts at night or that she was up to no good. He questioned her about being there, unknowingly sounding cold and threatening. Defensively, the girl stood in a fighting position. This, of coarse, made him more sure that she was up to no good. A fight broke out, until Kashar recognized the tattoo on her back; the girl was Ambika Zanobi. Needless to say, they were both quite shocked to see each other, and like this! Nara also showed up close behind Ambika. They talked for a while, catching up, but then Kashar suddenly had to go to reap a soul knowing that he had to sneak away, for few people other than Carriers were ever supposed to know about them. He left a message on a dagger, “Five by Five”, and went away. “Refusing To Let Go” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89871/2/ : Kashar may have left, but Ambika wasn't quite so easily abandoned. Determined to find him and give him a piece of her mind, she rushed after him, following him all the way to his Emissary mansion. At the time, Kashar was inside, letting his emotions flow, thinking about how he wasn't allowed to tell her about being a Carrier. Suddenly, both Nara and Ambika came inside. After dealing with all of their emotions, Ambika accidentally let slip that she had done something terrible. After secretly blocking the exits with magical barriers, Kashar and Nara coaxed it out of her. The night continued on, and Kashar offered to allow Ambika to stay at the mansion and to teach her how to use her full draconic form. “Lessons” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89884/1/#new : Ambika's lessons on using her full-fledged Dragon form had begun, this time teaching her how to hunt. After a few errors, and a lot of sarcasm between Kashar and her, she was able to catch something. Later, something caught Ambika's eye and she followed it, finding a injured cloud leopard. Asking Kashar, they agreed to take it back to the mansion to nurture it. “House Guests“ http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89885/1/#new : The two friends brought the leopard into the mansion, bringing it food and water while patching it up. Ambika, thrilled for the creature, named it. Afterward, Kashar went up into a certain room in the mansion, soon joined by Ambika, who could tell that something was bothering him. Finally bringing up the courage to tell her about his secret, he found that he literally couldn't tell her about being a Carrier. Yet again, his emotions got the better of him, unfortunately being interrupted by another reaping job. In a maddened dash, he left. Later he returned, disgusted at how he wasn't affected by the gruesome scene he had just visited. Feeling some will inside himself weakening, he went out onto the roof where he sat, dazed in a trance with his Sight, that made his eyes look like mirrors, perfectly reflective (a recurring phenomenon still currently unexplained). Ambika discovered him on the roof and questioned him about it, although he was as surprised as she. Out-of-the-blue, Ambika asked him about Lucifer, to which hatred boiled in his veins just thinking about him going near any of his friends. Eventually from this discussion arose an argument in which Ambika completely lost control of her sanity and brutally attacked Kashar. Using up all of his energy, he finally calmed her down. However, after calming, she had decided that she was going to be too much of a danger to her friend and ran away. Kashar desperately tried to chase her, but with so little energy he blacked out and crashed, a memory similar to the situation filling his head as unconsciousness consumed him... “One by One” (There is no link due to the fact that after Kashar left it turned into an 'xx' topic, which is now banned from the site. If people really want to read it, or I just feel like it, I may end up piecing back together the parts that aren't 'xx' so it may be viewed.): After some time without seeing each other, Kashar and Ambika have a chance meeting on the Ris'Mos coast. The setting sun and the cold, windy weather accented the emotions running between them to perfectly set up the following scene. Both having too many problems at the time, and both having had a while to think, believed that it be best to roughly cut off their friendship so that the other wouldn't regret their loss. Ironically, neither knew that the other one was doing the same thing. From this point of view, each said the exact things that would make the other one mad and/or sad, knowing each other all too well (Example: Kashar calls Ambika by her nickname, “Sin”, rather than the one he would normally call her). During this, Kashar figured out that Ambika slept with Lucifer for help. He felt betrayed that she would rather sell her body to his enemy than tell him what's wrong and simply ask for her friend's aid. Finally, with some final things said to each other, they painfully broke away with Kashar flying away. After he left, she tried to commit suicide by flying high then dropping downward, only for it not to work and meet two other people on the coast... “The Price Of Blood” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/89833/1/ : The prophecy set in the first Xeious project finally comes true; haunted by a 'memory', he awoke crying. Unknown to him, all he was seeing was a memory from one of his soul fragments, not his own. However, mixed with how Xeious was slowly taking over more and more of him, and with the emotional state he was in after Ambika, Kashar was absolutely delirious. The memory he was seeing was the one of the two lovers. Kashar then discovered that he was covered in blood, finally remembering how the night before he had killed the dragon's 'murderers': He had gone to a specialty magic shop to look for something that could help him defeat Xeious, finding a beautiful sword carved out of bone. Recognizing the scent, he realized that it was made out of the bone of the female dragon from his 'memories', and in his delirium he began to kill them, the line separating his consciousness from Xeious's becoming extremely blurred. In reality, he recognized them because they were the ancestors of her killers, and they recognized him from his earlier exploits as Xeious. To this day, Kashar still can't figure out whether or not it really was him who killed them, or whether it was Xeious. Just then, a policeman knocked at his door to come get him to help investigate the murders, when he noticed that Kashar had blood on him. Panicked, Kashar bolted out of there, where in a strange turn of events Lucifer saved him. Now being determined to save the female dragon from hell, he questioned Lucifer on how to get there, and promptly resigned Emissaryship and committed suicide via dropping from high up (ironic since Ambika tried the same thing and failed). This made him arrive in a version of hell (for there are many versions). Since they are two separate souls, he and Xeious arrived apart from one another. Just at that moment, Kashar felt that someone up above was crying partly due to him which made him realize how selfish and unreasonable he had just been (that person was Jesabell). Knowing that the female dragon would not want that, his new goal was to also get out of there. As his body above surface began to burn away, he ran through hell for what felt like a hundred years, until he ran into Xeious. Xeious, having desperately wanted to get out of there, struck a deal with Kashar to work as a temporary team. The two fought their way through to a staircase leading into an abyss. Slipping, Kashar fell and saw an image of the female...His body above fully burned away, revealing his human body within the ashes. Getting up, he started to laugh with joy as he realized he had made it back. After changing his mind about leaving Emissaryship, he walked off into the distance, his laughter making him look like a maniac. “It's All Tied Together...” http://s7.zetaboards.com/Broken_Worlds/topic/90143/1/: Kashar had left Xeious in hell, but what he hadn't planned on was that Xeious would also find a way out. Xeious made his way to the Virus faction compound where he consulted with Noitcelfer to find a way to permanently kill Kashar. Massacring the entire Virus faction for blood energy, and hence destroying the entire organization, he and Noitcelfer used a machine and a spell to travel back in time temporarily. When they did this, Kashar was brought back, too. There, Xeious tried to kill Kashar and hunted him down in an alleyway, using a silver bullet for an added touch (In the end, it was Xeious who had killed Kashar back in “The Other Side”). Not recognizing it until it was too late, Kashar began to do his duty as a Carrier and pry the werewolf's soul away from itself (Kashar wound up to be his own Carrier). Just like Qlei was sucked into that realm of the war, so were they. There, they began to fight one another, Kashar remembering all of the details of his original death for the first time. During the fight, one of Xeious's attacks hit another male dragon that looked like Kashar. Unknown to either of them, this dragon was the other lover. Said dragon crashed to the ground, his blood seeping down into the water of the ruins below (the room where the egg was and where Kashar died) where after many years of soaking in the magic water it would become a black ooze (the result of which was the creation of Xeious. Since the male was also a Carrier, it explains why Xeious only worked when injected into Kashar). The egg in the room was actually an egg created by the two lovers before the female got killed, and so the body that Kashar uses now is from them. (In essence, the two lovers were the parents of his physical body.) Up above, Xeious finally came up with one final idea to try to kill Kashar, knowing the spell would wear-off soon. Grabbing Kashar he began to plummet, knowing that he could survive the fall himself. Kashar, noticing this, turned himself into his human form to break free of the hold and slammed his sword into Xeious, starting to release his soul. Right near the end of the process, the spell bringing them to that time period wore out, bringing them back in a flash of light. (In reality, it was Xeious and Kashar who were the warriors that fought in The War.) Back in the present, Kashar got up not knowing how things turned out with Xeious, and somewhere off in the distance Noitcelfer stood in the ruble of the Virus compound knowing that Xeious was gone. Noitcelfer, however, found a still-intact bottle of the original Xeious mixture, injecting it into his body... Duhnduhnduhn!!! To be continued.... |
