To stop it getting out of hand? Well, I 'unno, there could be rules, like no biting, shots to the nuts, or something similar... Training sessions? That sounds cool, or sparring, but you could spar with anyone, since you wouldn't know who you were fighting. The sadistic thing is the person in charge could just say random names that amused him and watch them fight.
