Okay, so the Olympics officially start tomorrow! 8.8.08!!! And, I don't know about you guys but I'm wicked excited! I know there was a lot of protesting the Olympics because of the whole...oppressive mega-power issue, and the pollution, and all that stuff, but...to me, I'm still going to watch because, its about the world like uniting...and I mean to me...everybody's got pollution problems, and the United States has Puerto Rico...and nobody protested that. Like...there's been so much crap going on in the world that we should be able to unite for a few weeks and have some friendly competition. As our WONDERFUL....Dubbyah Bush said..."I'll go to the Olympus...its just another sportin event..." Granted, pollution sucks for athletes...but they were saying on the Today show this morning that some of them have been like...running on highways to get used to the smog! Haha, horrible but still kinda funny. And they're worried about China challenging all the winners that aren't from China...I dunno, just suck it up and get along for 2 weeks. Thats my opinion. Because I want to see my Olympic Beach Volleyball competitions!!! Anyways, I'm just wondering what you guys think about all of this. Should it really be protested? Do you like the winter Olympics better? Just...chat it up about the Olympics because I LOVE it! haha. |

Well, what I say may be harsh to all Americans out there, but we all know that we do it... I was in Washington DC around the time some protesting was going on. It bothered me just a little, even though it was civil. I mean, who are we to tell another world power what to do. As far as China's prowess goes, they could kick our butts anytime, just in sheer numbers. XD. Anyway, the Olympics have nothing to do with what China is doing. They are only hosting the Olympic games, it's not like they do so every year. We just have too many people that want to find something wrong with it and protest. (Because we love to XD) Is China doing something morally wrong? That is not for me to decide. For all I know the protesters could have some moral dirt in their own backgrounds. I guess my main point of my jumbled thoughts is this: We as Americans have no right to dictate where the Olympic games are being held, especially if the host is not bringing other personal issues into it. The Chinese are doing their duty of hosting a world event. That is all. It is the news casters and protesters who are bringing the dirt into the light. |

Exactly! I mean...I guess part of it is about them buying oil from a country that has something to do with Darfour....but...THAT is a stretch to blame them...I mean...thats like "Well you bought that from Jim, and I don't like Jim hitting his wife." Like...wow....and What about Bush saying he was telling Putin that he didn't aprove of his actions at the opening ceremonies. Bull spit. They were LAUGHING together. And its on Camera!!!!! Bush is such a tard...but, he gets points from me for not boycotting. I am SO Into the basketball though. Sarunas Jasikevicius is my hero. Lithuania basketball!!! Whoot Whoot! And I am not rooting for the US in a lot of events. Like...especially basketball. After Kobe pulled all those scandals...to me thats something more worth boycotting. I'm 100% behind our swimmers though. Stuff like that. The fever's hit here! Edited by Rosaline, Aug 11 2008, 02:06 PM.

Lithuania got stomped in basketball. MY POOR SARUNAS! He got hurt in the bronze game...like, got wacked in the face and needed stitches! They did it on the bench and threw him back into the game, but he bled like through the rest of the game and it was just...sad. It threw him off so bad, and I almost cried. Closing ceremonies tonight 7PM EST. So sad. 2012 is too far away.... Winter in Vancouver in 2 years tho. If you guys like winter better. |

The fact that Phelps got all his bling makes me one happy siwmmah. And I absolutely detested the USA team. Seventy-five percent of their scores were SLAM DUNKS. They should all just join the Harlem Globetrotters, jeez. >_> |

OOOOOOOH I could go on forever about how much I disliked the American Men's Basketball Team...like...I totally agree with you, they were way too showy and didn't depend on true SKILL until the final 2 games, and even then...it was a dunk fest for most of it. Like...DUNKING SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN INTERNATIONAL BASKETBALL...but...thats a whole nother debate for a whole nother time ![]() Like...SERIOUSLY...I dunno, but...the Chinese love Kobe...sooo.... |
