Character Name: Aethe Kaler Age: Preferred humanoid form: 17 Actual age: 153 (as of 2009) Species: Shape-Shifter Job: Entertainment - Aethe uses her Shape-Shifting skills to entertain passers-by in the city of Ris’Mos, accepting tips as offered. Relationships: Most people don’t give Aethe much consideration, and she doesn’t try to make friends or acquaintances. She does have a pet bird, a little purple fuzzy thing that was given to her by a Wizard who had especially liked her shows. The bird’s name is Caleb. Caleb has a habit of wandering off on his own, and sometimes he can be gone for days. Family: Her mother Azania died years ago, and her father Storm went missing around the same time. Other then that, Aethe has no knowledge of having any other family. Physical Description: Aethe has no permanent form, but she settles on a humanoid appearance as her ‘normal’ look. Having a regular form helps people recognize her, when she wants to be recognized. This form’s appearance has short black hair with a pasty sort of pale-pink completion. The eyes are dark, almost black, surrounded thickly with a penciled line. She has fresh, rosy lips that create tiny dimples when the corners twitch, and a rounded nose to complete her smooth features. Her form is short, standing five foot two inches, and her body slim with a slight muscle mass. She has a small tattoo on her left forearm, with reads “KIA” in smart calligraphy. The tattoo is rather a joke, as Aethe’s preferred way to die would be ‘Killed In Action’, as the military call it. Personality: Aethe has a tendency to change her persona to reflect her current form. When she is in her preferred humanoid form, she is normally upbeat when surrounded by pleasant strangers. She does this while she works, so everyone sees a fun loving street haggler rather then ally-trash. In truth, Aethe has no home because she feels no need for a permanent settlement. She can shift her form to make herself comfortable in any position or climate, and her work usually involves constant traveling to keep the audience fresh. However, Aethe naturally is a serious person, with a soft spot for those who are hard-done by. She loves to tease but if you get her angry or upset she can get quite nasty. (You wouldn’t want to argue with a Mountain Lion, now would you?) Skills: Aethe is a Shape-Shifter, and can usually acquire the basic skills of whatever form she chooses. She has her limitations, and is never as powerful as the creature she is mimicking. She can only use a skill that she’s observed before, and she can’t use the more powerful skills of the creature. She has a very good knowledge of animals, nature and all hybrid creatures, so her choices are still huge and her best weapon is the element of surprise. She can shift quickly and she makes her choices just as fast, so even mind readers have a difficult time keeping up, but it’s not impossible. Her biggest weakness is those who not only read minds, and therefore have an advantage as no other creatures can predict her movements, but those who know her well. Aethe uses similar patterns when shifting, especially when trying to outwit a mind reader and she’s trying to shift faster then usual making her movements almost unconsciously. History: Aethe’s parents liked to spend their days on Earth, as they enjoyed the simplicity of humans. Her mother Azania died in a tragic accident when Aethe was only 25 years old. Her father Storm was devastated, and went missing shortly after the death of his wife, leaving Aethe to make her own way in the world. Aethe felt lost and scared, and so she ventured off to find a portal into Ris’Mos. She quickly learned and mastered the speed and flow of her Shape-Shifting, and started to use her skills not only for survival but for entertainment. Not long after she started displaying her skills on the streets for everyone to watch, an ancient wizard started following her around every time she chose a new destination. After a couple days, the wizard exclaimed his joy in her performances and said that he wanted to give her a gift. Aethe was confused, but she accepted. The wizard gave her a small purple bird, and told her that the bird would always be there for her when times were rough.
