There has been an extreme lack of activity with some of our Emissaries (Not going to name names, but they do exist). Rosaline and I have been discussing weather or not to do something about it, and we both decided it'd be best if we heard from our fellow members, first.

PLEASE VOTE! We need all the information we can aquire! Add any comments if you so wish to do so, as well.

With All Regards,

I say we have a 3-6 month cutoff period. Unless they actually come across and post like "I wont be available..." then we treat it as a member clean out, but instead of deletion its just demotion/retiring to member status. Because as officials people need to be a little more responsible. I know this is fun and its not like school or anything, and I don't want it to feel that way but at the same time you're sort of signing up for something a little extra...so if you want the perks...own up to them. And if you can't participate, give others who want it a chance.

Agreed. =)
Demotion after a few months seems reasonable. I could understand if other members had potential frustration with the emissary of their species for long-term inactivity, whereas they would diligently uphold the position.

I never really looked at this problem but almost all of the Emissaries have been gone for at least a month.

I think we should let go of the ones that said they where leaving forever when they leave. If they ever come back they are welcome to grab there Emissary position… or try to.

I still would like them to come back. I'm all for the demotion after some months by the way. You guys know I speak for Nara to :D

I think they should be deleted unless they give a reason for their absence *like loss of internet privelages*

Demotion seems reasonable and could be easy to tie into plotlines as well. I'm all for it.

I think it needs to be based on posts not log ins though. Its well and dandy logging in every day but if your not doing anything then it makes no difference. It should be to do with being an active presence. You cant go to work sign in and do nothing for 8 hours :P.

I agree with everything everybody's saying so far. (And, yes, I do understand that I'm one of the "iffy ones" as well. I'm on for a few weeks, something happens, and then I'm mysteriously gone for who know how long. Point is though, that shouldn't be your problem. Besides, it would keep me on my toes! ;) )
I sorta' like the post idea to be honest. (Good idea, Leon!)
I don't know if I can contribute much to this, but I think the "absence" period should be long enough to *know* the person is gone, like 2 or 3 months, and maybe an e-mail should be sent (if the person has given an e-mail address) the first time it looks like they are going to be deleted. The second time, no warning.
Demotion seems better than deletion, though. Then, if they are still gone, they could be deleted later.
These are just my opinions, though.

Just to clarify, demotion wouldn't mean they get it back when they return either. Like, you snooze you lose pretty much, at least thats how I'm thinking it should go. And I think 3 months is fair. Because our more active members should be rewarded and not held back. At the same time, our election process has been tightened, so...those lost positions wouldn't be filled RIGHT away either. Plot wise, I dunno how a disappearance of like..3 or 4 emissaries at the same time would be...haha like, it'd certainly be less than chaotic.

That could strangely work out in some way...like, give it more thinking...and maybe we could work it out...we just have to make sure with the epidemic that things don't get like...cheezy dramatic...

I know we haven't dealt with this as promptly as we said we were going to, but its still in the works and I wanted everyone to know that. But here's the thing, we can't really kill off anyone because that would sorta godmod ourselves into a big mess if/when they DID come back, for starters. Secondly, I propose we make some sort of requirement of Emissaries, (say...3 posts a week, or 25 a month, or whatever). It is after all, a job. Do you guys think Emissaries should be given little tasks to maintain the board? Is that too much? Opinions?

the post requirement is an easy way to maintain a healthy activity level on the website.
i think 25 or so is a good solid amount for a month's worth of rp-ing. and if they do their job, they will easily get all those posts on top of what they do outside of their job when interacting with other members.

there's my two cents, as always.
