Character Name: Miguel de Morillo

Age: 800

Species: Demon

Job: Scientist, Surgeon, Torturer (currently unemployed)

Relationships: None

Family: None

Physical Description: Miguel appears very thin and emaciated, his black priest robes hanging off his frame. His skin is very pale and covered in various welts and oozing wounds that heal even as new ones a forming due to the leprosy his healing abilities are constantly battling. He has deep red-purple bags under his yellowing, bloodshot eyes and his cheeks are sallow. The lower part of his face is covered constantly by a surgeon like mask behind which his lips have rotted away. He only ever pulls this mask back to feed. Miguel’s hair all fell out long ago and he has tattooed his scalp with arcane symbols. These symbols sometimes faintly glow, especially when Miguel becomes enraged or aroused.
Miguel’s voice changes from a low muttering to a high shriek depending on his emotion.

Personality: Miguel’s mind is completely fractured, perhaps due to the lesions constantly opening up and healing on his brain. Miguel is obsessed with his ‘Great Plan’ although even he has perhaps forgotten exactly what his goals are over the centuries. It seems to involve the torture and dissection of his victims, numbering the thousands at this stage in time and only he seems to understand what purpose these sick experiments serve. Miguel has little or no interest in socialising with others although he is a keen reader of arcane lore and obsessed with hidden scientific or magical knowledge. He will only ever venture out of his lair if he really must.
Miguel suffers from a list of mental disorders including: somatic delusions (he will sometimes twitch or slap at his skin as he perceives insects crawling on him), depersonalisation disorder (he will sometimes feel detached from his body as though observing his behaviour from outside himself), necrophilia, schizotypal personality disorder (feeling inappropriate emotions, suspicion) and occasionally the need to consume raw flesh or even hair.

Skills: Miguel is incredibly intelligent when it comes to science and magic. His power is truly formidable but, as his insane mind doesn’t focus on anything for very long, he’s not much of a threat unless he sees you as a potential ‘test subject’ or an obstacle in the way of his never-ending work.
Miguel’s magic focuses almost exclusively on blood and flesh. He frequently creates tiny golems made of human flesh to venture out and bring him new ‘test subjects’. These creatures are known as Fleshlings. They stand at about two feet tall but have great strength for their size. They have no eyes or facial features, their faces tapering smoothly to a point. Their arms are long in proportion to their bodies and they often use them to aid walking, similarly to a gorilla. They had three fingers.
These Fleshlings have limited intelligence, are completely loyal to their maker and only last a few weeks before falling back into the raw flesh and blood of their construct.
Miguel’s manipulation over blood and flesh also allows him to cut people without touching them (though he is unable to cut through bone in this way), draw blood out through the skin and keep his victims alive for hours during his experiments.
None of Miguel’s physical abilities are particularly above average.

History: Much of Miguel’s past is completely lost in the turmoil of his constantly fluctuating brain but it is clear that he was one of the first Inquisitors of the Spanish Inquisition. He was fascinated by the limits of human anatomy and quickly became a very skilled torturer with the aid of his dark magic. Little did the humans know that one of the demons they so desperately wanted to expose and destroy was working among them.
Miguel had been experimenting with disease ridden victims when he managed to contract a powerful and non-contagious form of leprosy, able to affect him despite his demonic nature. His fellow Inquisitors saw the welts and wounds appearing on his body as a curse from God and, due to his weakened state, managed to imprison him. When it turned out that Miguel did indeed have demonic abilities (seen when he drew all the blood out of one of his jailors just by looking at him), the Inquisitors turned to a higher power for help. With the aid of a devout half-angel sorcerer, they imprisoned Miguel and inflicted terrible tortures upon him. His powerful regenerative abilities enabled him to survive the terrible treatments visited upon his body but they could not save his mind. He was already suffering from delusions and a schizotypal personality due to the leprosy and healing powers constantly wounding and healing his brain. These new tortures made him snap completely.
Powerless to break free due to the sorcerer’s spells and his own lack of sanity, Miguel was forced to wait in captivity and endure decades of torture. It was during this time that Miguel first heard the whisperings of the Great Plan in his mind. The Plan drove him on and gave him the focus he needed to escape. He did not encounter the sorcerer during his break out and it is possible that the half-angel is still alive somewhere.
With his new found freedom, Miguel wandered off through the world along the trail of the Great Plan. He constantly sought new victims and performed new experiments on them, pushing the boundaries of his science and magic. For a time he worked under Adolf Hitler, using victims from Hitler’s concentration camps as his test subjects but when the war ended he moved on again.
In recent years he found his way through to Ris’Mos, the resultant deaths making headline news until his capture. Miguel was sealed away in a secret vault under Ris’Mos castle, unbeknownst to the general public, kept alive due to his potential for great scientific and magical discoveries.
The Emissaries of today have largely forgotten all about Miguel, leaving him down there alone in the dark, waiting to be discovered.
'If I'm quiet, I'll slide up behind you. If you hear me I'll enjoy trying to find you.'
