 Character Name: Rosaline (Roz) Elizabeth Ald'an Species: Vampire Age: Physically Roz looks between the ages of 24 and 26 but her true age is 220. Job Title: Emissary of the Vampires Relationships: Married to Anok Ald'an, Emissary of the Shape Shifters. Closest friends: Demois Maddock, Kai Yokozue and Belladonna Hellvain. Physical Description: Rosaline keeps a very simple, but unique appearance. At first glance, she looks like an everyday human. She has straight black hair that goes down between her shoulder blades, a very light complexion, grey eyes, and an athletic build. Her skin is smooth and unblemished, except for one scar that will never disappear; the bite from her siring. She can be seen around Ris’mos wearing a variety of very unique clothes, but rarely wears anything other than black or crimson red. She can always be seen wearing her black leather jacket, or Anok's leather jacket when hers is not available. Since she shows little difference between her human form and vampire form she chooses to stay in vampire form at all times in Ris’Mos. In vampire form, her fangs do show and her eyes darken. Personality: To many Rosaline, or “Roz” as she likes to be called seems to have a very cold personality. How can you not be when you have to kill to survive? She can be sarcastic, impatient, and rather pessimistic at times. She’s very persistent and independent and it is rare to see her smile, or show any emotion really, in public. But really, she is more complex than you'd realize. Honor, trust, and respect are very high on her priority list. To anyone that doesn't know her, warming up to her may seem impossible, but among all the darkness, she has a charm that few can describe or ignore. She uses this and her ability to read a person to determine how trustworthy they are. So far, she has come to trust very few. The only one to have her complete trust and love is Anok. It is only with her dearest family and friends that she ever shows emotion, smiles, and occasionally even laughs. As an emissary, she knows when and how to be diplomatic towards all creatures. She is fascinated with the human creativity, especially in the performing arts. Skills: Rosaline's skills mainly focus on mental abilities. Her agility, speed, and balance are remarkable and she can remain undetected or sneak up upon someone with great ease. Her "sneaky" abilities make it easy for her to steal Anok's jacket when she needs it, too. If placed in the situation, she prefers a fists and fangs kind of fight, but if need be, she knows how to wield a weapon. Rosaline is a sanguine vampire, meaning she survives on blood. Her strongest abilities lie in knowing how to read people and communicate telepathically. Roz is fortunate and unfortunate enough to have the power of empathy, reading and feeling other people's emotions, she uses this to make judgments about people and situations she is in. She can also reach into a persons mind, and search for or use things against them, she most often uses this sort of cat and mouse mind game when hunting. As all vampires, she can see incredibly well in the dark, and although sunlight doesn't turn her to dust immediately, it can be damaging and painful. Rosaline is lucky enough to heal quickly. Her charm and charisma is also a vampiric trait. Other skills that she has acquired over the years would be astral projection, perception/sensing people around her and having a minimal ability to control flame. She is always trying to improve and learn more skills. When she was resurrected from death, her abilities were significantly weakened, leaving her emotionally sensitive about her ability as she tries to hide it by shifting to more physical training to defend herself. History: Born Rosaline Elizabeth Darkwood in 1788, Roz lived a very comfortable, but strict and sheltered life with her family in Boston. Escaping an arranged marriage, she ran away when she was 24 years old. Nieve to life outside of her world, it was quite easy to take advantage of her. She befriended a young man named Daniel in a small tavern the night she left. Daniel promised her everything she was after; a new life, exciting adventures, and most importantly, freedom. Eager and willing, Rosaline followed him to an old building in an area that she had never expected to see in her life. He sired her unexpectedly, literally giving her a "new life." Roz spent the beginning of her new life in Daniel's clan. Unfortunately, Rosaline became a victim in her siring. When first introduced into the clan, Daniel never mentioned the masters of the clan. Daniel and his lover Cassandra led the clan and controlled the territory. Rosaline's siring made Cassandra jealous of Roz, worrying that Roz was Daniel's choice to replace her. Ensuring her status, Cassandra made Rosaline's life a living hell, forcing her to serve the clan, making sure she had no time to strengthen her abilities and always finding reasons to torment her with terrible punishments. It didnt take long for Rosaline to break and accept this as her new lifestlye. After 23 years of torment, Roz finally turned against her clan, killing Daniel. His murder led to her bannishment from the clan. She once again started over, this time as a loner. She liked it that way and spent a lot of her time advancing her abilities becoming more and more powerful. She moved to New York in 1860, still keeping a very low profile among the vampires and keeping to herself. One night, after a kill close to the vampire section of the city, she wandered into the small sect, looking for some form of entertainment. It was the first time she had really seen a social vampire gathering since her banishment. The entire time, she had felt someone or something following her, but had difficulty identifying or finding who or what it was. Later that night, she was attacked by a hunter. She almost couldn't hold him off, but a stranger had taken a shot at the hunter from a distance, causing him to collapse in front of her. She took it as her opportunity to run and came across her friend and informant, Demois. As she was explaining what was going on, another vampire appeared, walking out of the shadows. Startled, Rosaline was ready to run and Demois saw it in her, he grabbed her, realizing that the vampire was not a threat. Demois introduced her to his friend, A.J. A.J left a good impression on her, kissing her hand and explaining to her that he had followed her and was the one that helped her in the fight, and taken care of the hunter after she had left. Demois explained to her that Cassandra had sent more agents to kill her, and that it would be better for her to join them in returning to Ris'Mos. Roz was quite unsure of the situation, but trusted Demois. Realizing that Rosaline wouldn't have anywhere to stay or start her life in Ris'Mos, A.J. offered that she stay with him for a while. After gathering her things, she returned to Ris'Mos with Demois and A.J. Demois had left them shortly after their return, assuring Rosaline that she would be safe with Anok. Once Demois had left, Anok took Roz out for a night on the town; showing her all the places in the city she'd need to know about, and took her out for dinner. Greatful, but still a little unsure, Rosaline seemed rather standoffish. Answering only certain questons and being delicate about how much she revealed. After dinner, he had brought her to his home and showed her around. He brought her to the guest room and offered her the room for as long as she needed, and told her that he would help in any way if she needed him. He offered to spend more time with her that night, but she decided to go to bed. It had been a long night, and morning was comming. Anok had informed her that the sun would not affect her in Ris'Mos but she didnt care and closed the door. The next few months they spent together seemed quite similar to that night, her warming up to him very slowly and she still kept her old vampiric habits and attitude around him. Anoks patience, kindess and respect towards her finally won him her heart. They became closer and closer as time went on, and she opened up to him more than she had opened to anyone before. In 1872, they got married and have lived happliy together ever since. Anok is still the only one who can bring out the more human side of her and make her smile. Near the turn of the century, Demois had decided it was his time to retire. Having been so close to Roz in both the human world, and in Ris'Mos, he knew her and trusted her more than anyone else on this earth, and knew it was right for her to have the position. He knew that she was strong enough and diplomatic enough to endure the huge responsibility. Rosaline now lives in the diplomatic housing section with Anok and serves as Emissary of the Vampires. She still keeps her original vampiric habbits; avoiding the sun and going hunting nightly. When she goes hunting, she tends to return to New York, since humans are in short supply in Ris'Mos city.
