SAFETY SAVING. STILL WORKING ON THIS! You can read what I've done if you like ^^

Picture: Posted Image

Character Name: Chanterelle ((Shan-ter-el-ee)) - Called Rell by those who know her.

Age: Around 78 true years - Human Age is about 25

Species: Elf (Combination of both Dark and Light)

Job: She occasionally considers finding a job, then decides jobs are for half-baken gnomes. Her income is sustained by the considerable wealth left to her by her parents, and her little hobbie of killing others and taking anything they have on them.

Relationships: None so far.

Family: No living relatives. Her mother was a Dark elf, while her father was a Light elf. Her parents had no other children.

Physical Description: Typical of all of the elven breed, Chanterelle has the lean and sensual build of her kin. Her muscles seem sculpted by the gods and she posses quite a temptation for those who don't know how to keep there eyes where they belong. Her skin has a beautiful ebony-blue quality, and provides the perfect disguise for any type of night activity. Her skin color was a gift from her mother, a Dark elf who passed on her negative (To put it lightly) attitude onto her daughter. Chanterelle's hair, on the other hand, is a gift from her father who was a Light elf; it is the purest white in color, and she has cropped the ends in a showy fasion. Her eyes are a rather delectable golden color, accented by arching brows. Her ears are the typical pointed kind.

Yet despite the above, don't dare make the mistake of considering this female normal. It is quite the opposite, in fact. She is a hybrid of two distinct breeds of one species--breeds that should never be combined. The Dark elves and the Light elves are seperate for a reason, and if you've ever wondered what you'd get if you crossed them: Rell's your answer. What is the most obvious distinction--at first glance--is that she has the dark hues of skin color typical of the Dark, while retaining the white hair of the Light. From there are many smaller details, too numerous and tedious to list. Let's just say that one would be best advisted to watch oneself around this little lady.

Let's talk a bit about her downfalls, however, for no creature is perfect. For now, this is just going to be physical defects, to see personality 'defects' check the personality section. First off, Chanterelle is short. Perhaps compared to the average human female she would be considered 'average', but compared to her elven kin she is very, very short. Standing at a whopping 5'4, Rell has always taken her height as a sore spot--sore enough to slash a few throats over. More on that later. She helps even out the score by wearing heeled boots that reach half way up her thigh, giving her another two inches of height as well as causing her legs to appear longer and more elegant. her torso is long however, and this helps the illusion.

The second downfall about her--though this she does on purpose--is that Rell does not have the long flowing locks of her brethren. Elves may be best known for archery, but on physical characteristics they are best known for their good looks, height, and beautiful hair. Usually one finds elven females with locks reaching almost to the ground. Yet Rell has cropped her hair off in a daring fasion that normally receives frowns and even grimaces from the high society types. To delve a bit into personality, she does this to her appearance to make even more clear the fact that she is neither Dark nor Light--but rather a hybrid breed all her own.

The third and last downfall to be commented on (the rest are all to trivial for mention), is not visible to even the most scrutinous of beings, for though it is physical, it exsists inside her body. Chanterelle is very susceptible to absolutely any and every type of disease. Even illnesses that only effect those of a certain species she can become fearfully sick with. This is a direct cause of the interbreeding between a Dark and Light elf. The reason the breeding of these two would produce such results? Because of this: The Dark and Light elves have been seperated for so many centuries that they have breed into their genes certain quirks that--when combined--produce disastirous results. Rell has almost died exactly 19 times. All from disease and not a single one from a fight. That tells you something of her fighting skills which are addressed later. Each time she catches something, extensive, exPensive, and prolonged medical and usually magical care is required. These many sicknesses have rather severely dipped into the resources of gold left her by her parents. Each time Rell has recovered, yet her one sole and singular fear is that one day she will not be able to come back to health. Indeed, after each sickness passes she can feel a part of her (perhaps the part that fights the diseases in the first place) weakening....one day she feels intuitively there will be nothing left, except death.

Personality: Novels could be written on the personality of this female. I will try and limit myself to a few paragraphs and leave the rest for others to discover when in interaction with Chanterelle. Essentially, Rell has a duel personality. She can mirror the book definition of either a Dark or Light elf at any moment, depending on the situation and her feelings at the time. Or she can have a combination of the two, in varying degrees of influence from either her Light or Dark sides. This obviously moves judging her reaction to different situations from hard to beyond comprehensionably difficult. Have fun.

Her Dark Half: When in this type of mood, one does best to avoid any type of contact in any situation. If you are currently in her prescence the best advice yet heard is to turn heel and run. For those who messed with her when she was occupying this dangerous persona, they found themselves at a premature meeting with the Reaper itself. Pleasent, ain't she?

Her Light Half: When in this particular mood, one may find Rell bubbly, adverturous, cheery, and so sickeningly happy it borders on euphoria. She rarely gets into these types of moods, however, so savor it and consider yourself lucky to have witnessed it. You are special to her.

The Combinations: Think of the combinations between Light and Dark as a bar with Dark on one side and Light on the other. A little pointer marks her current mood, and that pointer could be posisioned anywhere between the two extremes. When it is closer to the Dark, she will exhibit more of her Darker qualities, yet they will be toned down because there will still be some Light mixed in. So, for example, instead of killing rampages, one may merely be met with biting sarcasm and skillfully deployed insults. The same goes for when the pointer is closer to the Light end. If this is teh case, Rell tends to not go into laughing hysterics but instead listen and have civil discussions and even smile.
This Combinations stage is most common, though the degree of Dark and Light varies.

Skills: I'll try and keep this short as well. Her skills are varied and highly toned. Because Chanterelle doesn't have a job, she has plently of time to waste practicing and honing her various skills. When, of course, social obligations are not pressing. From the physical to weaponry, intelligence to fighting, she's pretty much got it all.

Rell has, as previously mentioned, some seriously nice muscles. They didn't get there on their own (though genes certainly help), and it took her many years of training to look the way she does. Need some one to deliver a message in a different city? Rell is down to 4-minute miles, and has indurance like you wouldn't believe. This carries over to help her with fighting as well. However, outright strength is not her thing. If you needed someone to carry that 50 pound bag of flour--look elsewhere.

Chanterelle also excells in weapons use, perhaps more then any of her other skills (excluding intelligence). She can asemble and disasemble any weapon in the world of Ris'mos, and most humankind weapons as well. Oh, and she can do it in under a minute. Quite a skill in many situations, no? her favorite weapons are by far her throwing blades, and has an undisclosed number of these handy little devices hidden around her person in the most effect spots for drawing and releasing. You don't even want to know how fast one of her prescious bits of metal can find its way into an eye or stomach. After daggers, her second favorite weapon would have to be the bladed staff--like a sickle except the blade is vertical rather then horizonal to the staff.

On to intelligence: Ah yes, one of Rell's particular joys in life and one she excells in very efficiently. When in the right mood, she loves mental sparing--or putting her wits against anothers and seeing who comes out the winner. No blades, no fists, just words. She's been doing this since she was 2 years of age, although her vocabulary at that time was admittedly limited. From devious compliments to finely veiled insults; sarcasticly bitter remarks to conscientous considerations--this girl's got communication down pact.

Chanterelle's general fighting skills are adequate for her. For those in the lower levels of society, her skills would seem advanced, yet for the high society types, she is an advanced novice at best. Of course, she rarely lets herself get into a one-on-one confrontation with drawn steel or other such things. She is much better at stealth; "The casually flicked dagger does more damage then the obviously flailed blade", as she likes to put it. And put her on the battle field and be prepared for some serious slaughter.

Oh, one last thing: NEVER try and teach her magic. Do you want all the demons in Heaven and Hell set down upon us?

History: As you can imagine, Chanterelle's history is anything but dull. Is filled, in fact, with hundreds of anecdotes, jokes, quests, battles, and the like. However, to save on time, I am going to try and cut it down to the most important and major events. After all, I'm sure you don't want a day-by-day run through of 78 years, right? I thought so.

As previously mentioned quite a few times, Rell was born to a Dark Elf mother and Light Elf father. Now there is an extremely complicated and twisted history about just how these two elves ended up together; but, to stick with my promise to make this (relatively) short, I will just give you what you need to know. Her mother was, in the Dark elven community, what we would consider a duchess--so pretty far up in the heirarchy. She had never visited the lands that were under her title--few of the high society did. Instead she spent most of her days training under expensive masters and flitting about from one social occasion to another. She was 107 years of age (or about 32 in human years) when she meant Rell's father.

Chanterelle's father was a Light Elf of little promise and littler fortune. he was a common peasent and hated his low-born life. He longed for the adventures and the social court occasions with royalty and the hours of training under ridiculously expensive masters--essentially, he wanted
