 Character Name: August Dalakis Age: 40 human years. Ages slowly. Species: Werewolf Job: N/A Relationships: Qlei (daughter), Channon (Qlei's mother - to be created) Family: Father, a vampire of the New York clan. Mother, a human. Daughter, a werewolf (Qlei), daughter's mother, a werewolf. No siblings. Mother still living under the protection of his former pack, father's status unknown. Physical Description: Looks thirty-something... Very light red-brown hair, loose and floppy, sometimes tied back in a ponytail. Darkish gold/copperish eyes. Thin but sturdy. Has a tendancy to look ill, lately. Sometimes wears glasses. Mostly just for reading. Personality: He is very disciplined, has built up tremendous self-control. Enjoys a good run/hunt, but alone, not with other werewolves. Doesn't really like to rough house with other wolves. When he Changes he usually just wanders and relaxes, preferring to be with animals rather than hunt them. Also enjoys reading, a good philosophical or intellectual conversation, and walks in the moonlight. Is this an online dating profile? He likes cats too. He is a very nice person, but not naturally hardcore kind like his daughter, if you follow. Underneath his control, he is rather impatient. Not a people person. Do I suck at explaining personality or what... Eh... He doesn't like or dislike cities, doesn't really matter to him. The couple of things that do matter to him, really matter. His favourite dessert is apple pie. Skills: Werewolf skills. Changing into a wolf, sensative senses and all that. He's more skilled in speed than strength, but he is strong enough. History: His father was a vampire since before he was born (happened while his mother was pregnant with him). The whole family (him and his mother) followed daddy's sleeping pattern, and August grew up with night as day. They lived in a small basement apartment in New York. Father slept in the master bedroom, August in the other closetsized bedroom, and mother on the couch. His mother and he were very close, they were on the same team, until August hit the teenage years, at which point he became the 'typical teen' rebel thing. He fancied he could handle everything better than mummie dearest. He usually didn't come home after nightschool and wandered the streets of New York at night, being rebellious. Then he ran into the nocternal inhabitants of the city. In a bar which he had been in trying to get a drink and failing, he met a group of three vampires. He asked them if they knew his father and they said yes, they were good friends of his. And they knew a place where anyone could get a drink and they would take him there. Thrilled, he agreed, and they took him outside, at which point they would have drained him dryer than something with absolutely no liquid in it, had a couple of werewolves not happened by at that precise moment. Seeing the human boy about to be killed by their nemesi, one of them sprang immediately to his aid, and was killed by two of the vampires while the third held onto August. The second werewolf Changed before attacking the last vampire, who was left behind when the fight took the others down another street. The last vampire was killed, but August was infected by the werewolf during the confusion (August had been getting in the way after the second werewolf Changed). In the end, both werewolves were killed and one vampire was left standing. This vampire perceived immediately the disease in August's blood, and now by no means wished to taste it. However, he wanted very much to end this young werewolf's life before it could even begin. He put August to sleep and left him bleeding deep in the shadows, expecting him to be dead soon. Dawn was approaching rapidly, he had missed out on his dinner and lost a lot of blood in the skermish with the wolves. He had neither the time nor the strength for anything more. August was found by, of all people, his father, who smelled the blood on his way back to the apartment. It was only after he had bandaged his sons wounds and unconsciously licked some of the blood off his fingers that he realized what had happened and what his son now was. He did not undo the bandages, but he left his son there in the alley. When he returned home he told his wife where to find their son, and nothing more. It was the last thing he said to her. She left and found August and took him alone out of the city. He was fourteen. Far away, almost on the other side of the continent, she happened upon a werewolf pack in the mountains near a few small human towns. They adopted her son and took her under their protection as well. He was 'homeschooled' from then on by the pack Alpha. For less than a year they lived there in peace and harmony and serenity, until August's newfound girlfriend Channon became pregnant. She was sixteen. She reacted predictably, with much blame and bitterness. And, just because her year wasn't going badly enough, her Changes began. During this time, Channon was virtually separated from the Pack while the Alpha and her mother helped her through it all. August was not allowed near her during this period. By the time their daughter (Qleira) was born, Channon was becoming accustomed to her Changes and a month or so after Qlei's birth, Channon was regularly with the pack once more. However, she considered herself severed completely and permenently from August. He had dutifully left her alone for almost a year, but now he could no longer stay away. He was less than happy about becoming a parent so young, but he loved his child unconditionally and wanted more than anything to be there for her. As his own father never had been. Turns out maybe his own father had the right idea. One day he came to see Channon and the baby where they were living with the child's grandmother. The grandmother was taking care of the child while Channon was out running, and was an unually reasonable woman. She let August in to see his daughter. Inevidably when Channon returned she was furious and chased August out of the house. After he had run for a while into the forest, he stopped and let her catch up to him, whereupon he begged her to stay and listen to him. In short, he told her how much he was sorry for what he had done to her and all that she had gone through, and he would understand completely if she no longer wanted to be with him, though he was still crazy about her. He begged that she would tolerate his presense in her life, so he could be allowed to be a part of their child's life. By some divine (satanic) intervention, she eventually... very eventually... conceded that her life wasn't all his fault, and this initiated a 'tumble in the forest' scene. And guess what that iniated? No, not another baby. August's first Change. Won't go into any sort of detail, but this resulted in Channon's death. August was not, as one might assume, kicked from the pack and into eternal exile. He was simply quarenteened in his year of training, during which he worked madly hard and gained a level of control unheard of in the pack, unsurpassed even by the Alpha himself. Shockingly, no one outright blamed August for Channon's death, although some questioned strongely his judgement when he knew his Changes would be beginning soon. But this was the Alpha's fault as much as August's. Channon's mother had taken care of his child during his year of training, and August's own mother had helped out a lot so grandmother wolf could go hunting and running. At first she didn't want to relinquish care of the child. But, being the reasonable woman she was, she soon had to admit that August was now a worthy guardian, as well as legally an adult, and one and a half year old Qlei was given into the care of her father. About three years later, August moved away from the pack, to one of the nearby human towns in which his mother was living. Qlei was raised there by August and her human grandmother, and from here on it's mostly Qlei's history, until she runs away from her father at age 19. He hunted for her for five years, until he completely, totally, and in all other ways, lost the trail. He then settled down with another pack. As it turned out, this pack wasn't a good 'settling down' choice. They were very warlike and territorial, and ended up going to war with August's former pack which he had left eight or so years before. Loyal to both packs, he fought for neither, and ran away from them. The second pack named him traitor and added him to their huntee list. As he had left the first pack, the Alpha felt he couldn't protect him. He's one of those Alphas, the ones who follow pack law like a bible. So August is running. But it was always his daughter who was good at evading hunters, as evidenced when he himself tried to find her. DunananaaaaaaaNA... |
