Hokay! YAAAY! Rozzy's gotten the book club up now!! This topic is to talk about your favourite book (or series) and why you like them, and to talk about others' favourites as well!! My favourite series (one of them ) is the Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix. Sabriel, Lirael and Abhorsen!! I love the way Garth envelops you completely in his world and how you become so attached to the characters. My favourite charries by far, are the two furry friends that tag along in the stories. Mogget, the demonic and fiendish feline, who is very sarcastic, and The Disreputable Dog, the fun loving and adorable (you guessed it) dog. I love Garth Nix for being able to give both Mogget and The Dog dialouge and keep the typical nature of a cat and a dog as well.O_O You should read them if you haven't. Really. |

I rather like the "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga by George R.R. Martin. Though he does seem to kill off major characters seemingly on a whim. Its alarming how often you'll start to like a character just for them to die horribly. Of course when one of the bad guys finally gets their just desserts it is VERY satisfying...almost disturbingly so. Can't wait till he actually finishes the saga, I hate waiting for authors to get their books out but I know they can't rush things or it will suck! |

Hmm...never read it, but now I will. O___O Another favourite series of mine is Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse by Stephenie Meyers. She's an amazing writer!! They're about vampires too, so that's even COOLER!!!! :ph43r: She said there were going to be seven books, but only three are out, so I have to wait for the rest to come out.... <_< Very upsetting...I swear, if I ever become a writer, I'm not going to put my books out every year. Every 4 or 6 months is MUCH better. ^^ |

Ooh!! ohh!! pick me!! pick me!!!.... The Belgariad series is amazing!! The first one is The Pawn of Prophecy, and I looooooooooooooooooooooooooove it!!! A lot! It's about the Orb of Aldur, and a little boy named Garion, and his insanely cool guardian, Aunt Pol. Garion is destined to fulfill a prophecy that will either save or destroy the world... yea... there're four books, Pawn of Prophecy, Queen of Sorcery, Magician's Gambit, Castle of Wizardry and Enchanter's End Game. I'm still reading the first one, but I'm about halfway through it and the whole thing is one huge adventure. It starts out moderatly slow, but not boring, It's basically an itroduction as to how the Orb of Aldur was made, and how Garion's Aunt Polgara ties into it, and then it introduces Garion... Then it's ADVENTURE TIME!!! Yea.... read it! |
| The prince is never going to come, everybody knows that; and maybe Sleeping Beauty's dead. | |

^^^^^^ I LOVE Sabriel Lirael & Abhorsen...Absolute MASTERPIECE!!!!Fantastic books![despite the fact that I read them in the wrong order, Lirael, Abhorsen then Sabriel.oopsies!] Yerr, i think that everyone has the potential to churn out a masterpiece, and that was certainly Garth Nix's!!!Ive read what is out of his "Keys to the kingdom" series...Mister Monday, Grim Tuesday and all that. They arent nearly as good...but easyer to follow! okay...im gonna keep this as short as possible...That could be difficult as ive read so many fabby books...but awkward for you guys as ive noticed that most people on theese rpg sites are American and I am Scottish [not English, mebbe British...but most definately Scottish, and proud of it!!!] so you might not be able to get your paws on some of the books. Where to start...Harry Potters were amazing obv. but I was ready for that series to end...it was becoming predictable, and it was the same basic plot in all of them. And in the last one *spoiler warning..look away if you havent read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and are planning to in the near future* [take out all symbols and it will make sense] W)hen* H[a#rr.y I.s W/a456lking D8*own T89o T45h855e F8o9r]=bi'#dd089en F85or345e90-s=24t & Y35o86u Th2355i098n33[-k H[087e''#s G584o[;i564n244g T5-o D756544i87e, I W90887a98s M4844o-==r65e U7985p909s-]['e876t a977b08766o7656u755t T087h087e F0966a599+c556t T09-h224a977t H9876980e D89i08975d'#'[4.n9078987-''t S45874a566y B778y86565e T90897o G9766i0988967n0977n988y!!! Apologies for messed up writing, but it would be unfair to spoil it for people who actually want to read it, even though most people who are going to care have already read it, just incase. Also, just recently read H.I.V.E. [Higher Institute If Villainous Education] by Mark Walden, it was really good, though I felt it was aimed at slightly younger readers than me, it made a refreshing change from the usual type of books i read. the blurb reads as follows You have been selected, all of you, the worst, the most cunning, the most mischievous minds from around the world-selected to become part of an institution like no other. Each of you has within you a rare quality, a gift if you will, a special talent for the supremely villainous. Thirteen year old master criminal Otto Malpense has been chosen to attend the top secret school of villainy. His skills in Global Domination will be developed to rival the worlds most dastedly villain. But there is one small catch-he cannot leave until his training is complete. There is no way otto is going to spend six years studying for something he has such a natural talent for. He is left with one option.Escape. He just needs to figure out hiw. Along the lines of teenage master Criminals, Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer [Irish Writer] Are So FUNNY!!!!! I discovered them several years ago, and still look foreward toreading books from the same series. They are absolutely HILARIOUS!!!!And will never fail to make you laugh. the series so far is as follows [there may be more, theese are only the ones which I have managed to find] Artemis Fowl Artemis Fowl - The Arctic Incident Artemis Fowl - The Eternity Code Artemis Fowl - The Opal Deception Artemis Fowl - cant remember the name..but was definately the funniest so far!!! [Yerr...Shall try and find a blurb online for you guys later when i have more time...but I cant leave the computer to find my copy because someone else will swipe my seat.] The Alex Rider books by Antony Horowits [Stormbreaker, Point Blank, Skeleton Key, etc] are AMAZING!!!!He is like a young James Bond with style!!!!!!! The Cherub series by Robert Muchamore is also amazing!!Like Alex Rider, but with slightly more kick and realism...i.e. theese kids actually do have vulnerabilities that get played upon quite alot....though I highly reccoment both Cherub and Alex Rider for the full experience.... You know what?Im just gonna PM Rozzy and see if she can open up another section of the book club for us to put up the blurb and our review of a particular book...one book or series to a post. That would be so much easyer!!!! But all of above are highly reccomended...those are what first sprung to my mind.... OH and Phillip Pullmans His Dark Materials. "The golden Compass" film is based on the books, but from the trailer..will not do the books any justice whatsoever...casting of Lyra is completely wrong!!!!Anyway, those are Phillip Pullmans masterpiece DEFO!!! |

I made this site for anything book-y! So, go ahead and post reviews, and discuss different books. If you want to make a topic on just one book or just one series that would be awesome! And I intend to do the same once I finish my current books! LOL! I'm so glad you are all enjoying tihs forum! I know I'm personally not a big reader, but recently I've gotten into it, finding a group of books that seem to fit me. Currently I'm reading "P.S. I Love You," Which...I saw the movie first but...I'm loving the book and its absolutely nothing like the movie,, like...the stories are COMPLETELY different... The last series I read before this was "The Princess Diaries" which, granted was great but...sadly I've outgrown those before Mia graduates High School... Interview with The Vampire was good, didn't finish it for various reasons...ONE being that a certain BOYFRIEND who plays a certain SHAPESHIFTER on a certain WEBSITE that just MIGHT go by the name of BROKEN WORLDS, a site of which he might be the SECOND ADMIN might be the one to have stolen my book before i could finish it and has held it HOSTAGE for.....6 months.... anyway... My sister read the New Moon series, and she's sugguesting it to me but I have a few books to finish first. no more time, haffta take the dog to bed.... |

The Wardstone Chronicles are probably my second favourite series of books, which are by Joseph Delaney. The consist of (I'll put the American versions in brackets to help all you folks): The Spook's Apprentice (The Last Apprentice: Revenge Of The Witch), The Spook's Curse (The Last Apprentice: The Curse Of The Bane), The Spook's Secret (The Last Apprentice: Night Of The Soul-stealer), The Spook's Battle (The Last Apprentice: Attack Of The Fiend), and The Spook's Mistake (The Last Apprentice: Wrath Of The Bloodeye). They're a great series of books in the 1st person of a boy called Tom, who becomes the apprentice of the regeant Spook, a person who deals with evil spirits and dark creatures. The books show how Tom grows up, with the Spook and his friend Alice, learning about the ways of the Spook. PICK 'EM UP!!! I'll only read your books if you read mine ![]() P.S: I think the American titles are bad. They don't have the same mystery about them. |

Ooh, looooooooooooong post time The Seventh Tower Garth Nix It's a Scholastic reading book, but it's an interesting enough story to make it onto the list. These next two don't need to be spoken for- If you need to be convinced of their merit to society... Well, Harry Potter Has none, and Lord of the Rings is the original version of that style fantasy that's newer than pure myth. Harry Potter by J.K Rowling Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien Incarnations of Immortality, by Piers Anthony
Did I sell that well enough? I won't try so hard with the next few. Bio of a Space Tyrant by Piers Anthony (Yes, also by Piers Anthony.)
After this came a lull in my reading, and a spike in my gaming... So, nothing interesting was read for a while. Or maybe I just blacked out a big period of time, and all the books went with it. Or maybe it was my Anime binge. I really don't remember. The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher
Catcher in the Rye By J. D. Salinger If the book needs an introduction, you're living under a rock. If it still needs an introduction, ask around maybe. Or you could google it. The Reacher Anthology By Lee Child The first book starts pretty much like this:
The pace is fast, the quality is excellent, and the read is worth it. Tales of the Night Side By Simon R. Green Okay, originally I was hesitant to read these, for the simple fact that the main character wears a white coat. "What kinda hero can he possibly be to wear a white coat?" Eventually, I gave in. I don't regret it. I just wish the stories were longer. Main character John Taylor is witty, and entirely too human, which is another great thing about the stories. The setting is the Nightside, the gaudy, neon noir, secret heart of London, where it's always three in the morning… Where you can walk beside myths and drink with monsters. Where nothing is what it seems and everything is possible. American Gods by Neil Gaiman To steal the words from Wikipedia again:
John Dies at the End by David Wong
ALL this effort... And something says nobody is going to reply to me. Ah well. And yes, they're all my favorites- I don't waste time finishing a book if I don't like it. Edited by Samuel, Oct 12 2008, 05:59 PM.

I love...... -------The Abhorsen trilogy -------The Twilight Saga -------Harry Potter -------Trickster's Choice & Trickster's Queen...and everything else in that series. You've all probably heard of the first three, if not all of them, so I'm only going to tell you about the last one: Trickster's Choice is about a girl named Aly, and she's the spymaster or tortall's daughter. She is trained in spymastery, so she's very clever, and sometimes sarcastic. It is a fantasy, in a realm that is very well written and created, I applaud the author at her impeccable imagery and the aspect of reality she created in this book... or series rather, Trickster's Choice and trickster's queen are actually quite far down in the series. The series starts off with a character named Alanna, she's a woman disguised as a man, to fulfill her dream to become a night...and since women are not allowed to do so, she pretends to be a man. -Alanna: The first Adventure, (song of the lioness book 1) -Alanna: In the hand of the godess -Alanna: Lioness Rampan -Alanna: Woman who rides like a man. Then there's Aly: -Trickster's Choice, -Trickster's Queen. The series starts with one character, then moves to that character's daughter, I enjoy this series, because they are suspenseful, and intriguing on a level that many books are not. The main characters are full of personality, and wit, I especially like it that the characters are intelligent, and often, instead of being one step ahead of the characters...like in many fantasy books...they keep you guessing, and their ingenuity is so great, that even the most acute imaginations will be thrilled!!! |

Kay so, my favourite series of all time has to be the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. It's like, about wild cats that fight eachother. It's so cool. But my fave individual book would have to be The Fire Within. I believe the author is Chris D'Lacey... but i'm not sure |
