I like gold/silver/crystal better. Even though Pokemon yellow was awesome.

in my opinion, pokemon took a ton of steps in the right directions mechanic-wise in pokemon diamond and pearl. For example, why the hell could pokemon never be level 1 in any game before DP? I never got that. As well, how the hell did we know whether an attack was special or physical? (There was no way to know until DP either) Don't get me wrong, silver and gold were my favourite games by far, but in terms of the mechanics and the upkeep of the game, diamond and pearl are leagues better. There are even outside effects in existance that effect things in battle within DP, such as if you use gust on a flying pokemon it does more damage (it doesnt do supereffective or anything, but the damage is increased), as well as if you use earthquake on a pokemon that is digging it does additional damage. Did you know about that? How about this one: if a pokemon uses minimize and you use stomp on it, the damage is almost doubled. It is small things like this that didn't exist before the DS iterations of pokemon, and mainly why I still like them. |

Ya well they had no choice to evolve there mechanics because if they didn't. Pokemon wouldn't be able to compete with the other games. |

I'd go see it. There's no doubt Pokémon evolved. (LOL get it? :tehe:) But while it evolved, I think the target age stayed the same. So the first generation of players kinda grew out of it. To me, Red/Blue and Gold/Silver will always be the best. I have no intention in trying the new games. I found my old Pokémon Red game the other day and played it lol. But the younger generations probably don't care for the earlier games. So it works both ways. Also, why does a Japanese based franchise have a French name? I always wondered that.

its not a french name. Just because it has a character that you have only ever seen in french class does not mean it is a french name. The character é is widely known to be pronounced eh, it isn't just used in french. Why did japan use such a character in the name? Japan loves to pretend they can speak other languages well, but believe me, they butcher them so fucking bad that it makes the way they sell chickens on the streets look clean. |

I never really did understand why Bite was special. But yeah, mechanically, each one improves a lot, it's essentially the same game over and over with a slightly altered story and some new Pokemon, and upgraded features. It's like...the second most successful video game series ever, so it's pretty impressive. I just like to see the new things they try. They'll never be able to capture the nostalgia of the older games, but then again I don't want the new ones to be carbon copies of old ones.

Wow, the pikachu in that poster is creepy. o_o I'm going to guess that it's actually from the sequel, in which the pokemon turn into zombies and obliterate humanity. Now that's a movie I would see.
