Ok so i was wondering if anyone has read these books, because i have to read them for English. But see i hate reading especially school books because the teachers always chose boring ones. So i want to know, are they any good? I think i might end up watching the movie instead of the book. My teacher said the movie is just as detailed as the book. (The kite runner that is, I do not think there is a movie on A Thousand Splendid Suns.) Thanks. |

I've done bothhhh Read it, then watch it. So you'll know to skip over the child rape part. IT HAPPENS NEAR THE BEGINNING, AND YOU'LL KNOW CAUSE THE SOCIOPATH WILL BEAT HASSAN AND PULL DOWN HIS PANTS. THAT'S YOUR CUE TO FAST FORWARD WITHOUT LOOKING. It's all done when Hassan walks away limping and with blood dripping onto the ground. I think it was winter cause there was snow.. or not, Idk. Either way, he gets raped.

Just google the book and find online webpages about the book and shi. What did you think I did for my book reports? I did that with the book "The Alchemist" and I got 84% on it. |

A Thousand Splendid Suns is one of the most depressing books I have ever read. And I have read a lot of depressing books. I mean like, a main character or a friend/relative to a main character is either killed, beaten or brutally raped, or all 3 not necessarily in that order, in almost every chapter. The ending is slightly less depressing but they still throw in another main character dieing at the end >_> like WTH? |

Seriously? Over 1000? Wow.

Saying you hate reading when you clearly spend hours on forums and your computer is so ignorant. THIS IS ALL READING. YOU ARE READING WHAT I'M SAYING TO YOU RIGHT THIS INSTANT. You are, however, judging off your posting habits, very clearly NOT a fan of writing... Anyways, if you value your grade, I suggest you suck it up and read them. they are kinda more "thought provoking" bookclub+school books, but it's not going to kill you, using your brain a little bit shouldn't do you in(and if it does, everything I've said to you was very clearly true and/or called for). I'd say just suck it up and do it, if you try and cheat with the movie, I kinda hope you fail, because it's what you'll deserve. The safe call would be to give the book a shot. I don't know if the Kite Runner is a thrilling read, but it deals with some heavy issues from what I've heard, and it apparently is quite a thought provoking read, which really isn't a bad thing. Plus it's pretty contempary if I've heard correctly, so that could help too, a big problem with a lot of stereotypically suggested school standards is that they're dated and a little out of touch(even though fans and the teacher may try and insist they're "timeless[in a way a lot of them are, but they can be harder to get into for some people]"...). So give it a chance, you owe it and yourself that much of an effort, if you can't be bothered to even try, any grade you get will be more than fair, and the way a lot of schools go, it'll probably still be too good for you.
Well your spam and selfcentered style of responding to everyone doesn't help anyone either... -DaniCirca[/b] |
