You know what, all the books I had to read in HS are now considered "hip" books. I see them for sale at HMV, who would have thought. I guess that gives me mad mainstream hipster creds, because I've read them many years ago :sneaky:

I only skipped on reading books for one semester during CEGEP. Don't be lazy, just read them. It's worth it, unless they are written in old style French and all hope of understanding is lost, lol. If you're that lazy, try downloading the audiobook if it's available. That's what my brother does....

I find it so amusing when people think Quebec is pure French. In fact the majority speak English all the time.

Sure there is a lot of French but the English are taking over. :tehe:
True story, When i go to Montreal all i hear is English and when i go to a store i talk English and i get a answer in English. n_n

Haha, it really depends where you go on Montreal though. Downtown is pretty much bilingual and so is the borough I live in, but there are some parts that are really Québécois :/

Oh ya i totally agree. Gatineau for example is extremely French. But that's ok. I don't mind French, and bilingual is good. :yay:

There must be English there too though, no? I mean it's like right beside Ottawa, isn't it? Then again I think a big thing in Quebec, and other areas with billingual culture is there are certain parts where there is just a heavier emphisis on the heritage/culture/language. Like there are certain areas in Quebec where residents are very proud of the French heritage and make a point of speaking it, even if they are completely billingual, and there are others where it's just not a big deal and it just varies from individual to individual... And then there are areas, where English just isn't widespred, like some Quebec residents come out here to learn English while they attend school, and you can tell they aren't very familiar with English when they start out...

I've also heard that some residents are kinda purist, they'll speak french amongst themselves, but if they can tell someone is from a primarily anglophone part of the country they'll address them in English, regardless of the persons ability in French... Like some of my French teachers were in Quebec and certain people would do that to them when they found out they were from Manitoba.

Yup there is bilingual pretty much every where, but there are certain place where they are just English and just French. Gatineau for example is all French, or at least it was when i went; And the West Island is all English. n_n
