Guess I missed the info about the extension. I will still call my donation in tomorrow and I will be certain to tell them it is for A49 Cruzers. |

I don't know which forum to post this on but I spent quite some time tonight going through all the various forums and discovered much. Previously I had just come to the site to see pictures and videos. I learned last night about the donations and will take care of that tomorrow (I am paranoid about my credit card number going to a site that doesn't show the padlock). Also, I want a real human to tell me my donation is going to go to A49 Cruzers. Back to what I discovered tonight, I wasn't aware of the Animal Planet Hero of the Year Award and just finished voting for Dr. Peter Sharpe--talk about just getting in under the wire! I also discovered the I give.com promotion and the search engine. These will also be used in the future. I can't blame anyone else for my late discoveries but, frankly, if you hadn't mentioned the donations I would still be in the dark. Thank you. And, if you get another newbie, please inform them of all you have going on. I know it is hard to ask for money but anyone coming to this forum must be interested in the welfare of eagles in particular and animals in general. Those are very special people and would not be offended. I am delighted to do my part and I suspect everyone else realizes these wonderful pictures, videos, nest watching and education do not come free. Our small contributions are the least we can do to continue this marvelous work by all the dedicated people involved. We are all indebted to you. |

Bee, I'm so glad we got you under the wire for the Hero of the Year, and I don't blame you for being cautious about numbers going out on line. I'm sure that the IWS will be glad to hear from you in the morning. Our effort started a little over a month ago with the initial goal of $6000.00. Even though I've added time, now until the end of September, I still cannot believe we are this close to reaching our initial goal. My goal is to keep bringing up this fundraiser to everyone and not letting them forget it...ever. When our fundraiser ends there will still be need for donation and a need for funding for the IWS, so that they may continue to do the things they do. Especially the things they do with our Bald Eagles!!! Thank you again, welcome again and talk to you again...real soon...it's late and I'm...well...I'm about ready for bed, so on this happy note... Good Night Bee & Good Night Y'all, Darrell |

Bee: Now we have to wait to see who the 10 finalists are in the Animal Planet and then if Dr. Sharpet makes it (finger, eyes, legs, toes crossed), we have to vote again: PEOPLE’S CHOICE VOTING: Once an Entry has been posted at www.animalplanet.com, visitors to the site may vote for the Finalist whom they believe best embodies the qualities of an Animal Planet Hero of the Year. The People’s Choice voting will begin at 12:01 AM ET September 25, 2006 and will end at 11:59 PM ET October 08, 2006. Limit one vote per person/email address. Votes must be recorded by Sponsor’s server by 11:59 PM ET on October 08, 2006. Then some more waiting and hopefully our efforts will be successful! |

This is excellent. I have $25 from my desk cup at work and another $25 from family so I am glad it was extended and I can get it in over the nest few days and it will still count. Thanks Darrell, you are doing a superb job!!! Bee _ Thank you thank you for submitting your nomination for The HEro of the Year Award. Don't forget about the finalist voting, I will send a reminder to everyone when it is near. |

Darrell - I will definitely continue to donate, just let us know what is needed. Bea - Thank you for your offer of help. I'm sure I'll be bugging you. I am still trying to figure out how to use this site. I'm delighted to be a member and even more delighted with all my new friends. Deb - Thank you for the information on the finals. When I voted I was in such a hurry that I quickly pressed the submit button and didn't read much else. There was only about 15 minutes left before they closed it. They did say my vote was submitted. Troth - Please be certain to send that reminder, I wouldn't want to miss that too nor do I want to be in a 'last minute voting mode' again. |

A new fundraising method, I fix computers. Its about the only thing I know how to do. So, if you need your computer fixed (mostly spyware/virus problems) and you can still get online, I can fix your computer remotely for a donation to IWS of at least $50. Now my company usually charges $169 for the same service so this is a deal. I will rid your system of spyware/viruses while you wait and all you have to do is enjoy your clean computer, without popups, slowness, etc. Email me at thundercat at hawaii . rr. com if you need your computer fixed. |

Great idea HB! And I DO need some help... no virus problems - I use AVG and love it but email problems... not sure if corrupted IE or a problem on hard-drive but I would happily send payment IWS's way. It's no longer an emergency since I did a 'work-around' and started a new email act w/ G-Mail but I have 'lost' some emails somewhere. We'll talk when you are more 'retired' than you are now! |

Through Hulabird/Debi's help I have been able to figure out what I needed in the way of programs for photos and videos for my computer. We've sent a few PM's back and forth. Her expertise was a great help in getting me the ideas I needed to be ready for the next nest season. The people at the stores couldn't help me much with what I needed to know. In honour of Debi's patient assistance in this, I am sending in another contribution to the A49 Cruzers. Thank you, Hulabird! |

Hello Everyone, We are inching our way to our 1st goal...and we will get it, I have no doubt about it!!! Bee - You asked the perfect question...what is needed??? What is needed is the continued support by all of us in the form of contributions. All of our efforts are going to the IWS directly and we all know that the effort we are giving is so appreciated by Peter and everyone at the IWS. Having the funding cut on Catalina really hurt, but the money that we are raising will help to offset that loss. It's just a drop in the bucket in the whole scheme of things, but it's an important drop in the bucket...Let's help fill that bucket up!!! We've got a little more than a month left. Let's see how high we can push it, is 8000 out of the question, 9000...10000??? It's all up to us to answer that question. I'm pretty curious because I know that it's not impossible. If you have not given, please consider it...if you have, thank you very much. If you've contributed multiple times, thank you so very very much!!! Remember where that money goes...to the nests of Catalina, where the effects of the DDT poisoning on the shells of the egg cause them to be thin. It goes to the IWS for their fostering of the eggs in the safest environment possible. It goes to the people who track these birds, finding the nest retrieving the egg(s), fostering the eaglet into the nest when the time comes. It goes to help to make sure that these birds get the best of care. Most importantly it goes to help make sure that they can continue this very important work. I just felt it was time for a reminder and Bee, I thank you for the inspiration... Thank you all again, Darrell
