Hi Everyone,

Just wanted say welcome to guests and our newer members.

We are at 205 members which of course means 45 more and we'll be full.

Pretty Cool HUH!!!

More members, more donations, more prizes...more time for yard sales, and searches on goodsearch.com. More time for bake sales and car washes, for watching the nest, for another final, final toast, another reprieve for the cam (one could only hope), a few more looks at the dragon, a couple of pounds of chocolate, possibly a rename A-49 poll (I must be out of my mind), suggestions for a 12 step eagle cam addiction program poll, and more... ;)

September 14th is the last day of the offical fundraiser...2nd month anniversary of her fledging.

Raffle Notifications begin on October 16th.

This restoration project needs our continued support, our contributions are a drop in the bucket to what is needed, but we are making a difference, and with your help we can continue to make a difference.

Thank you all for your contributions,

Darrell B)

Eagle D,

How about some Island Fox burrow/nest adoptionss I'm sure IWS is monitering the foxes as well as bald eagles, that's why the bald eagles are being reintroduced after all. . I would be very interested in that. Those little baby foxes would be so cute to watch!

What does "full" mean?

This forum is not limiting membership to 250 is it?

Teddy Neal, the forum membership is unlimited. Eagle D means that for the 1st 250 members, you would be automatically entered into Donation Raffle.

Thank you for your very generous donation, to the IWS, and for crediting it to the 'A-49 Cruzers' and Welcome, Dave and Jann to this forum.

When I have visited the Infotec forum (read, not post) I have loved your photographs and video clips. In fact, I hope you don't mind, I brought one or two of the videos over from the Infotec, Santa Cruz Island Eaglet link, to share them here, with our forum members. ( Giving you full credit for them, of course).

May I ask you....what program do you use to capture your videos?

I use Fraps for the capture for both photos and videos. Then I use windows movie maker to edit the videos and create .mwv movie files. I use Paint Shop Pro to convert .bmp to .jpg. I then host them on my own FTP site. I don't consider them mine and you are welcome to use them anywhere.

Hello Eagle D, I sent in my donation of $25.00 and hopes this helps. What great photos from Ostrich. Drizzly here in Cambria, but still went birding in Morro Bay. Getting more and more skilled, although sitll a new birder.
Jennifer

Eagle Duo, Thanks for the information, as we have an Apple we don't believe Fraps will work on our system, and our PC is too old, but the information was helpful, as we are always interested in who is using what programs, to capture the images/video.

Karen,

I don't know if they are doing adoptions for the foxes, their primary worry was the Golden Eagles who were feasting on the foxes on the island and at last report they had all been removed from the island. FYI.

$3710.00...Wow, great number!!!

It put's us well over half way to our goal of $6000.00, so that we can proudly say we adopted all six nests available. I know that many have donated and the quite a few have donated more than once. Thank you all very much, we got $2300.00 to go then we'll be looking at 11 IWS tours as prizes instead of the 6 we have now...better odds of winning one of these coveted behind the scenes looks at the IWS. More prizes are available to raffle off with more money donated...let's consider this...

The start of school is just around the corner, how about donating extra DVD's to the local schools as the educational tool it can be used for. To increase awareness. How about Birthday and Christmas presents because a child, a niece or nephew or a grandchild saw the video and loved it.

Don't have any extras, no problem, while I'm hoping to possibly have some for the raffle, you can get yours with a $25.00 donation...the things you can do with them are endless...take it to your church group, show it there and then ask for a donation to help the IWS keep funded so they may continue their work.

We still got a way to go, but we've got time to get to our goal.

Thank you so much everyone, for your concern and for your continued giving.

Our total as of Sunday $3710.00.

Can we make it to $6000.00 by the 14th of September???

You Betcha!!!

Guests sign up and give...we still have 40 or so memberships available with eligibility for our Raffle to be held on Oct 16th, with some great prizes from the IWS. There is no one making a dime off of this except the IWS. This is just a bunch of Eagle Addicted friends, doing what we think is right.

Now it's time to think...

For what it means to the survival of these Incredible Animals and to the work that The Institute for Wildlife Studies is doing to reintroduce them into lands which were once teaming with them, before man decimated them without thinking.

Now it's time to think...

About the past, the present and the future of the Proud and Beautiful Birds.

Santa Cruz Islands Bald Eagle Population is Growing thanks to the men and women on both Santa Cruz and Santa Catalina Island, but it's Catalina that has, in my humble opinion and the starting point for many of the birds on Santa Cruz. It's also Catalina that has lost a big chuck of budget, and that is where these funds are ultimately going.

To the Registered Members...great job, keep up the good work...and more importantly Thank You for what you have done so far.

6 nests means 11 Trips to be raffled...and a whole lot more...

We got a long way to go and a short time to get there...and EVERY little bit helps.

Eagle D, I worry that the IWS staff will be distracted from their "real" job of observing wildlife in order to give us tours of their facilities. I don't want overburden them...are you sure this is OK with them?

Yes, I've spoken with Dr Sharpe, and we've discussed this...orginally the plan was 1 tour per every $1000.00 in donations. When we cleared the first $1000.00 Dr Sharpe upped the ante so to speak by offering an additional tour for every $500.00. I'm quiet cetain that he would not have made that offer if they couldn't handle the tours while not endangering any of the research or programs currently underway on both Islands.
