The woman that runs eCatalina.com just calls me up with the credit card information when contributions are made through her site. I'll credit the A-49 Cruzers if it is noted or you e-mail me that you made a contribution through that site.

Ok everyone...I've heard rumors, and I've heard big rumors...our original goal of adopting 6 nests is still our original goal, but I've heard from some sources that we may be a lot closer than we think!!!

Dr Sharpe, I'll be calling for the tympani on Wednesday...if my sources are accurate, we should have a number worth waiting for. :D

Everybody...keep them fingers crossed, and keep those donations coming in...would 7 or 8 nests be out of the question???

Time will tell...

Tympani stays silent for 2 more days!!!

Then we let her rip!!! ;)

Ok everyone...it's Wednesday, and this has become one of my favorite days thanks to the efforts and updates from the IWS Crew...what a great one today, stunning photo's of our Ea'Gal' in flight...there is only one more thing that I'd like to see that would really make my day complete. ;)

I know it's still fairly early in the day and I hope we don't have to wait to long...but I have to know...

Can I have a tympani please???

Well...

It may be that Dr Sharpe is on his way back to California from Colorado, and as such may be away from a computer...I think I'm gonna give the Tympani player, the rest of the night off, but rest assured he'll be back with us in the morning, and hopefully we'll get a nice update then. Besides the neighbors are complaining about all this Tympani noise...I told them to get a life...obviously they don't understand the importance of what we are doing here...I'll sit them down and smack...I mean, talk some sense into them in the morning. B)

Until then...

And make sure you extract their apologies in the form of an at least $25 donation.

Just re-reading some of the recent posts and yes, I'm somtimes "jealous" that many of you live nearby and have the "opportunity" to visit the islands. So, I have a couple airline ticket opportunities and I'm going to save them hoping that we win one of the tours!!! There are eagles upsate but as I've said before, site locations are kept secret and they aren't often reported on so folks will leave them be. We have a rescue center out east on LI and they had an eagle there which my scout troop visited and saw! Now after receiving and watching the DVD - I'm packed and waiting for October email!! Again - thank you all for what you have shared on line and for what you do!

Big Lake - Manila, AR

Harpo,

I, too, live where there are eagles and nests, but they won't allow you to go near there and there are no cams.

Teddy_Neal: I've seen a nest at Florida at the Space Center (many years ago) and I've seen a couple eagles in captivity due to injuries they've had but nothing like these west coast folks are lucky to see everyday! Hmmmmmm hubby and I have been thinking about moving away from NY in the future - west coast ?? hmmmmmmm .......

Here's a new fundraising idea. Stole this one from another site. The next time the crew is out by our nest, they can collect some poop-cicle sticks from the ground and sell them for say a $10 donation? I'd buy one and have it framed in a nice shadowbox with a little engraving of Cruz Poop 2006.

And just when you think ole hbird has lost her marbles completely, just know I'm serious about it (losing my marbles that is)

ROFL Emma Rose. Nooooooo, don't make me ge a job. I hate jobs. They interfere with my empty nest watching and forum participation. And it wasn't my idea. I stole it fair and square from another lunatic's forum.

After reading some of these posts...I've been wondering a LOT lately about how wise it is to make the location of this nest and these eagles known to the public. Although the exact location of the nest has not been revealed...and I hope it never is...it does worry me a bit that the wrong sort of people may be drawn to the islands for the wrong reasons. On one hand....the project needs to be made public to get public support...on the other hand, the local zoo did have their eagles brutally stolen. When I hear of other areas protecting the habitats and keeping locations secret...it makes me think...YIKES!!...I hope too much has not already been revealed and that our guys stay safe out there. I guess just by virtue of them being on an island cuts wayyyyy down on people going in search just out of curiosity...you certainly can't get their by foot or by car. Well...those are some of my thoughts....it's a Mom thang!

peppermint: one other point is that the area where these birds are nesting is on the part of the island owned by the Nature Conservancy and is not open to the public. Maybe that will help also in protecting them from human preditors.
