We live in such a heavy populated area and tons of them leave the island every weekend to get away. There are lots of hiking areas/parks etc. but because the situation with the eagles and trying to reintroduce them and protect them - they never give out any information. We're even lucky if they say "Hudson Valley" which encompasses a lot of territory! We did have an eagle appear at our boy scout summer camp several years ago and plucked fish out of the lake - but apparently it was a day excursion - we've not been visited again (that we know of). However the ranger there does protect the best he can and if he knows of an eagle in the area - he would not divulge the location! And it's so sad that it has to be that way..... |

I just returned from a 3-day hiking trip (up to 13,000 feet). From the information I've received from my assistant on Catalina and through Paypal, the contribution total now stands at $4225. Is there something special I should be looking for in the mail? I'm only having Jeanne open mail that is obviously contributions. |

I had the same troubles as when we all first tried to donate online! It wouldn't go thru paypal or thru regular charge card. I only tried once then just did the form / email! Maybe it's just my computer at work although I never have trouble with any other purchases, etc. Maybe I'll try again and see what happens! I'll let you know. Thanks - Deb |

Peter, you spend your vacation hiking? Don't you do enough of that at work? Well I guess that keeps you in good shape. I have a question about the donation totals, does this include the matching donations of is that just the straight donations? Also, there are t-shirts?? And, What is the big surprise we are waiting for?? |

The matching funds originally offered by Hulabird were for the first five hundred to equal the first thousand so this total reflects all of the donations. The big surprise is supposed to be a real nice donation that I'm hoping is on it's way or hasn't been counted yet. I'm hopefull that my source was correct and that it's added in soon. But if not, it's ok, we are doing great. We still have a little under a month to go and we are getting ever so close to our goal of all six nests, and maybe more...time will tell. Keep up the good work everyone, D

very cool!! I have an idea that some of you may want to do. I am putting a cup on my desk at work with a sign that says HELP SAVE the Bald Eagles on the Channels Islands. Everyone here knows about the islands and they stop and ask questions so I tell them all about it and ask if they can spare some change. Then once I get the $25 I told them I would bring the DVD in for them to watch. Thought maybe some of you might want to try this at your job. |

Hi Everyone... A special welcome to all our new members, please enjoy our discussion board. This is a board full of many wonderful people who are Eagle Lovers. The People of the IWS need your help too. This fundraiser/raffle has two goals...to raise as much money for the IWS and help them compensate for the cut in funding on the research and reintroduction of these Magnificent Bald Eagles into their natural habitat. A habitat that we as man destroyed through our own carelessness a habitat that we as man are trying to rebuild. We need you help, please give. The other is to have fun and fun means the raffle... Ok...on to the update... I thought I'd tell you all a little bit about the day that I had. First off let me say thank you to Dr. Sharpe and his wife for taking a few minutes to stop by so we could talk about the Raffle and a few surprises. It was a pleasure to meet you both. We will know a lot more about the total number of prizes in a few short weeks. Some of these raffle prizes may be quite unique in nature...and that's the only thing I'm going to say for now. We're looking foward to exceeding our original goal of adopting 6 nests for $6000.00. When we surpass that goal in the next couple of weeks as I fully expect us to do, the end of the fundraiser will be extended with a new goal of $8000.00 anything above and beyond will be, as always, very appreciated. If by September 30th, we exceed this new goal, then the number of members elidgible for the drawing will be increased to the first the first 250 to the first 300 members. This give us a month to get it done and a chance to include another 50 members in the drawing. We also discussed timing the Tympani a little better...hopefully that will prevent the near hysteria that developed over the last long drum roll! Cumbrian I need to talk with you, I've tried to PM here but I don't know if you're getting the messages...so Pat, please contact me. That's all I have for now... Until next time...Keep on Giving, to Keep These Eagles Living!!! Darrell
