Adventures Of A60; Questions about how he is doing

In last week's update, it said that A-60 is not as adventurous as A-49, and had not gone very far from his nest area. Is there a reason for that, do you think? Is it because the nest was in the grasslands, and not in a tree or a cliff area? Will the fact that he is not as adventurous be a problem for his survival later on his own? How long will the parents keep providing for him? Is he doing some on his own? Guess that is enough questions for one post. Thanks for any answer.

We are really a friendly bunch here. You can read more about us over there and we would love to get to meet you, too.

ElaineRuth - teacherlady has posted several times in the past and if you know of a way to pull up postings by name, I would highly recommend looking up teacherlady's as they are very profound!! In one of her postings, she talks about how her students each said "good-bye" to A-49 when school was over - had me in tears. Definitely worth the read!! ;)

Dear CarolAnn,
So sorry 'bout my lapse in CRS. I was really trying to find out if she was my cousin's wife, who teaches school, had the eagle cam on all day in her classroom and was the one (thru her hubby) who directed me here.

I don't think she will take offense to an additional "Welcome" anyway.
I'll see if I can pull up messages by sender's name, but I haven't seen that yet.

Sorry, teacherlady. I haven't been able to find a Foot-In-Mouth smiley yet. :(

Some birds wander more than others, and A-60 is a few weeks younger than A-49. A-60 took a trip away from its nesting area down to the west end of Santa Cruz recently, so he is starting to move more. Staying near his parents should not impact his survival, and may actually increase survival if he has a known food source while learning to scavenge on his own. A bird that fledged from a nest on Catalina on July 18th is still spending a lot of time around its parents' territory, so A-60 is not unusual.
