I put a post in the "Calling all locals" thread about photos my friend took at the Prisoner's Harbor end of Santa Cruz (her neighborhood!) in April. The short story is e-mail me if you want to see 16 photos. In return, I'll send you a link to Snapfish. You have to log in, but I couldn't do it any other way. The long version of the story is in the other thread!

Some bird just flew off a branch on our nest. I didn't see it until it flew. I have trouble viewing smaller birds. My screen is kind of dark. Rats.

I saw the local nest visitor again--and can barely see some blue on it, so must be in the jay family. Cumbrian often sites them, right?

Nice link, Tiger. K-13 really gets around and seems to have adapted to the urban environment. Come to Carpinteria little eagle, eagle, eagle!!!

I think the jays took out a time share on the nestominium for the off season months....such clever parents, K-10 & K-26, to make that nest work for them while they are on vacation!

There was a Scrub Jay on the nest between 2:00PM and 2:03PM.
First it was on the left pinecone branch, then flew towards the camera. Then about a second later s/he, or another one, landed on the nest, at Cruz's eating area on the left side, flew up to the left branch again, then flew off to the right. Too quick to get pictures.

Perhaps if the eagles are lucky the "scrubjays" will scrub the nest. It looks like it could use it.

I want to thank whoever recommended watching "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill." I rented it over the weekend, returned it on Monday......and bought my own copy so I can watch it again. Many Thanks.
