Oh, yes, Bea, lots of nasty things, spiders and snakes. The week after moving into our current home I found a HUGE python in the garage, 2-3m long and FAT! Grabbed my cats and locked myself in the house (dogs were with hubby). Turns out pythons are the good snakes, they eat the bad ones, red-bellied black and brown snakes are prevalent where we live although I've only seen one of each since moving in and not on my property but up the road (which was close enough in my book). And spiders, the most common nasty is called a Huntsman and I've killed a lot of those. Something bit my hand @1.5 years ago and I have a nasty scar from it @1/2 size of a dime. I hate spiders so happy to see lots of lizards around the house cuz thats what they eat as well as mozzies and cockroaches (I have NONE of the latter around!). Unfortunately, my new Kitty loves to catch the lizard and I just hope that novelty wears out by summer. KLJinOz |

Bixby LOL!! That sounds just like us!! We have this beautiful camper outside, sleeps 4 (or even 6?), has stove, heater and everything, yet...we end up staying in hotels anyways. Our trailer hasn't been used in years!! But the cabin right on the lake, that sounds real beautiful. Enjoy!!! |

EagleDuo, welcome home. Sounds like you guys had a pretty good time considering the splinters and everything? So excited for you that you did see an Eagle and perhaps even the offspring. Looking forward to your pictures!! |

KLJ/Kath, do you think it was a spider that bit you? A friend of mine's husband was said to have been bitten by a spider right here in Oxnard, and he almost lost his leg because of it. I don't know what spider here locally could do that? Black widow? |

Bea, I dont know what kinda spider it was, nor do I remember when it happened except to say that I was gardening the day before I noticed the bite, I forgot to put my gloves on. Karen bought me some rose gardening gloves that reach almost to my elbow and I wear them all the time now! The bite got really red and itchy and ended up with a big round scar patch it and it still hurts if it gets knocked. I generally leave the spiders alone cuz they eat the mozzies and flies (and Australia has PLENTY of both), but if they are near or in the house I smash em. KLJinOz |

It's amazing what damage these little critters can cause us. Definetly wear your gloves! I wear mine too, but I have nothing like your critters here. Stay safe! Will say goodnight for now. May check in a little later on. Thanks for the nice chat today everyone! |

Hello. I am sunburned and exhausted and exhilarated. It was wonderful and we are definitely going to do it again. We might even consider buying a boat with a canopy. It was very windy. I even lost my hat but fortunately it floated long enough for me to turn the boat around so Jann could reach it with her walking stick. The lake was so choppy it was hard to take pictures. You can't land on the side of the lake where the eagles reside so it made it difficult to document. It was fun having complete control of the boat and where we went. I got into the shallows several times while trying to watch the birds and almost got stuck but recovered in time to get out while the motor spit mud into the air. The eagle sighting we had was wonderful. We didn't see any orange so it was probably the male. We have binoculars with a camera built in and the camera didn't record with the clarity we had with the binoculars. We are going to do this again and again and again especially next year when the nesting begins. The boat .............................. Me standing in the boat ... Complete control of the boat |

D & J, that looks so much fun! A couple of observations, it looks warm and the water appears low, is that the case? You can get sunburnt in cool weather so I wasnt sure. On the third photo titled 'Complete control of the boat' (aka BoatDave2) is that the moon, pale, to the left of you???? Yes, do that again, again, again! and of course post pics!~ KLJinOz |

Dave, wonderful pictures!!! And I didn't even know there was such a thing as binoculars with built-in camera!! But as the mom of 2 coasties, (US Coastguard men), I feel compelled to inquiry as to the whereabouts of your life jackets. Please assure me they were there and readily accessible. We gotta look after each other around here. ![]() |

Well, Hulabird, you must be out on a Saturday night just partying away. But we miss you in this parts, girl!! Have fun but don't foget to wing your way home to those who miss you. It's almost 2 am, my time. So before I turn into a pumpkin, (oh do I have a lot of jokes for that one!), I'll say.... ...'Nite all and sleep slow. ![]() |

The life jackets were there and readily available. They cost me a 20 dollar deposit and well worth it. While we didn't need it this time, one time while water skiing my younger brother sank the boat with a child aboard and the rest of us on a floating dock in the middle of the lake. We dove in and collected life jackets as the popped up to the surface and swam to shore. Yes everyone was ok and the local Coast Guard pulled the boat to the surface so we could salvage it. |

The water was low and Jann got pictures showing that. It would have been warm (low 80's) but it was very windy and made it very comfortable. That is definitely the moon. It was one of the most fun and satisfying days we have had. |

Heading for bed, but before I go, here's one video. I took this with my binoculars of the bald eagle flying. Gotta warn ya though.....if you're prone to motion sickness, you'd better take a dramamine before viewing. http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m58/Jan...EagleFlight.flv Will post more pics and videos tomorrow. Good night. |

We talked to several fishermen on the boats and they told us they identified us immediately as bird watchers. |
