This is a link to Mark Bittner's (author and "star") website where you can find info to order the book, DVD, and read his posts. I liked his old site better but he is revamping and posting new stuff here. If you haven't yet seen the movie and intend to do so...don't go looking around his site yet and don't click on News and Readings until you do....it will spoil the ending for you!! Just go directly to "Parrots"...do not pass GO....do not collect $200...and don't bring any raptors with you! Anyone who has fallen in love with the experience of learning about the eagles, will love this true story as well. http://www.markbittner.net/ |

Peppermint I saw this movie and loved it. Naturally it is literally in my own backyard so I was very familiar with the surroundings. It is nice to go there and take a peek. Of course the view is spectacular as well. It really is a wonderful story. I recommend it to all. |

P-Patti--I saw this at the theater and was so excited when it finally came here. You know what--one of those guys...I met informally in 1997! When I turned 50, my cousins treated me to a trip so SF. We went into a bird shop on Fillmore Street. This guy started talking to us and my cousins wished they never took me in there. He was hand-feeding baby parrots and was a real pro. I had so much fun watching this guy & talking to him. He sorta made a pass at my cousin, but it may have been for show. Now I can't remember how he fit into the Telegraph Hill movie, but I remember seeing him and thinking I "know" that guy! My SF cousin said, yes, that was him. She saw the film. We had really good & inexpensive Middle Eastern food closeby this shop. Very yummy. Have you been to this shop, Nancy? I have no idea what the name of it is..but I'll bet he's still there. He appeared to be the owner. Think he was feeding Senegals. By the way, my cousins hate my birds and how it changed my life. Parrots are like a dirty word around here. Now with the eagle thing, it must be unbearable for them. They made me feel like crap about my parrots---and I think it's wrong. Now they're afraid I'll cut myself off from them if they complain again...so for the time being, all is quiet on the nestern front. It better be. |

Patti, Thanks for the info I will look it up. Fillmore Street is a rather busy, long one with lots of places to eat and shop. I will have to investigate which end the shop would be on. As far as the middle eastern place for food, again there are many. Glad to know that you enjoyed your time in SF. It is a fascinating place with lots of neat and interesting places to peek into. |

Well, phooey. Now you know I couldn't just go there without getting hooked. And I must be stupid 'cause I still don't know what the ending is (ignorance is bliss.) So here is it, 1:10 a.m. Sunday morning, my time. And I'm getting ready to listen to a radio interview with him!!!!! I have been on this site for hours!!!I got so ashamed by his dedication, I just got up and changed my cat's litter box! ![]() |

LOL Elaine!!! You'll know about the ending when you see the DVD. You will LOVE it!! Patti: I saw it in the theater too...the Riviera in Santa Barbara.....and I was HOOKED after that! I think that is why I was so intrigued when I heard about the live eagle cam....after seeing that movie I was just hungry for more more more. Bought the book but haven't gotten very far with reading it yet. He's writing a new one now. Nancy: San Francisco has been my alltime favorite city to visit since my college days...it's just such a great place...I've walked all over the city, up to Coit Tower etc but never even knew to look for parrots then....I never get tired of it. |
