Whether a man winds up with a nest egg, or a goose egg, depends a lot on the kind of chick he marries. Trouble in marriage often starts when a man gets so busy earnin' his salt, that he forgets his sugar. Too many couples marry for better, or for worse, but not for good. When a man marries a woman, they become one; but the trouble starts when they try to decide which one. If a man has enough horse sense to treat his wife like a thoroughbred, she will never turn into an old nag. On anniversaries, the wise husband always forgets the past - but never the present. A foolish husband says to his wife, "Honey, you stick to the washin ', ironin', cookin', and scrubbin'. No wife of mine is gonna work." The bonds of matrimony are a good investment, only when the interest is kept up. Many girls like to marry a military man - he can cook, sew, and make beds, and is in good health, and he's already used to taking orders. Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age, and start bragging about it. The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for. Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved. How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are? (good question) When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to your youth....Remember about Algebra. You know you are getting old, when everything either dries up, or leaks. I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top. One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young. Ah, being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable. Old age is when former classmates are so gray and wrinkled and bald, they don't recognize you. If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you are old. |

While I find all the 11 references to be very interesting, I want to dispel the misconception of the verse about the Eagle. This "urban legend" has been circulating since 9/11/2001. This verse alluding to the Eagle does not actually exist in the Qur'an. Verse 9.11 of the Qur'an states: 009.011 YUSUFALI: But (even so), if they repent, establish regular prayers, and practise regular charity,- they are your brethren in Faith: (thus) do We explain the Signs in detail, for those who understand. PICKTHAL: But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge. SHAKIR: But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and We make the communications clear for a people who know. Click Here to Read Qur'an Chapter 9 Verse 11 www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/009.qmt.html Another translation: 11. But (even so), if they repent, establish regular prayers, and practise regular charity,- they are your brethren in Faith: (thus) do We explain the Signs in detail, for those who understand. Click Here for Another translation www.islamicity.com/mosque/QURAN/9.htm I am not Muslim and do not profess to be an expert on the Qur'an. It's just that after the reference to the Eagle first started circulating in 2001, I went in search of the actual verse but could not find it anywhere in the Qur'an. Sorry. If someone else has been able to find the reference to the eagle in the Qur'an, please let me know. |

Hey we're back...I'd recieved that as an e-mail and didn't take the time to authenticate it, but the math looked good. Found it very strange considering how much the towers resembled the number 11. Bird, thanks for the correction. D

I'm sure Ma and Pa Eagle will let these jays know that their time share on the nestominium does not include the breeding months of the E family. But it's nice to see it being used during the offseason if only for preening. |

Teddy-Neal, I love your write up on matrimony and age! harpo516 - I will be ordering some Ts too as soon as the iws order site is up! 9/11 This day always brings tears to my eyes. And also the day that Bali experienced 3 bombings, 12 October 2002, murdering 202 people, of which 88 were Australians. Only several perpetrators of that Oct event has been sentenced to death, most of those sentenced were given light jail sentences due to lack of direct evidence. When compared to the death sentence of 9 Australians for drug importation, I have boycotted any work to do with that country (Indonesia). I do not condone drug trafficking, but the unbalanced judicial system is appalling. On Sept 11, my step-father was in NYC on business, his satellite office in the WTTowers. We frantically tried to contact him for 2 days and finally found him at his hotel, not the usual one across the street from WTT but at another location. His first appt wasnt till 10am. I'm know each one of us has been directly touched by this terrible event and pray that we can somehow change the modus operandi of people who feel they have to do these terrible things, they dont solve any problems. Today, Al Gore is in Sydney promoting his doco on the environment. He has been part of the rememberances here at the US Consular. I too remember this day and pray for those lives lost. KLJinOz |

Eagle D very interesting math...never considered that before Bird Never even knew anything relating to the Quran (spelling) I know they are supposed to be a peaceful bunch but.... We lost so many brave good men in Vietnam that I just hate to see us out there putting so many lives on the line again. Our country was formed by foreigners so long ago and I try to hang on to that concept, but it was just such a different time then. I almost want a wall totally around our country and not let anyone else come here. They don't appreciate it after they get here like the original people did. It's a very different world. Unfortunatelly. And don't get me started on foreign aid!!! TeddyNeal where did you get that poem....that is going to all my email friends. And so true about wanting to marry a service man...he's got all his ducks/eagles in a row! Very Wise Words...Eagle D I am glad/sorry to see all the 9/11 stuff on TV. It makes us remember which is both good and better. My heart has never healed from so many innocent people. Had my uncle been alive still he would have been working right where that plane hit at the Pentagon. Joanie I had forgotten about the home flag with the mourning banner on it. Thanks for reminding me. |

I was working in Nevada 9/11, that day was horrible. My hotel was at the end of the flight path at the airport. It was eerie to have no planes flying in or out, after being upset that the reservation person had put me in that hotel when I had requested not to be placed there. I'm a light sleeper and the noise from the airport kept me awake. I remember the ride home that Friday; I had to drive the rental car(luckily I had one, as people were buying cars to get home) as no planes were flying; it was a peculiar feeling driving and noticing there were no jet trails in the sky. We don't realize that we notice these incidentals until they are no longer there. I am saddened today, as we all are; and am glad we commemorate these heroes. I flew my flag today, even though I have no way of putting it at halfmast. What I don't like is the hype that goes on for days prior to 9/11.....then I think the terrorists are winning by getting everyone's nerves on edge again. We need to somehow control the media....they thrive on human misery. I was a child in London in WWII and remember the bombs and the bombshelters....spent many a night in the tube underground. Three of my four boys have served their country, and I now have two grandsons serving, one has been to Iraq. I support the troops, but I do not support the war in Iraq. I would like to recommend to those of you that have small children to buy or borrow, Jamie Lee Curtis' book "Is there really a Human Race?' I heard her read excerpts on a talk-show, and went to Borders to buy it for my great-grandchildren. I think it should be in every home and read by everyone whether child or adult. I'll now get off my soapbox. Hopefully I haven't offended anyone. If so I apologize. |

That was Kefir that someone else recommended to you, sandie... found in the dairy section at the market also, it's like liquid yogurt that you drink instead of eat with a spoon! |

for all those in a different time zone then me (EDT): if you get Biography Channel they have a special tonite (8 to 10 here) called Anatomy of Sept. 11. You really have to see this one. I have seen lots and lots of shows on this subject but none like this one. Mostly it has interviews with survivors telling their stories of what it was like and how they made it out. A whole other prospective. |
