That's me, Cruz Director! Eagle Duo posted a blog from an Audobon Society field trip to Santa Cruz, Prisoners Harbor, on the Calling All Locals thread, toward the bottom of page 20. Check it out! Regarding hunter's leadshot, it's just been reported that the reintroduction of the California Condor in Los Padres Nat'l Forest is being thwarted by these carrions eating carcasses abandoned by hunters with leadshot inside. This was reported in our local paper and also hit the National Geo website news. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/20...07-condors.html Hunters don't need to use lead bullets, educate every hunter you know that there are alternatives! |

Camera went off at 7:13PM. Around 3:25PM a Scrub Jay flew onto the E Branch, didn't stay long. At first when it arrived I thought it was a Hawk as it did look quite big....but no, it was just one of our usual squatters. They never look that big, of course, on the branches...not after we are so used to seeing the eagles! Nancy, I hope that the antibiotics and cough syrup kick in soon, so that you will get some sleep and feel much better. peppermint and Patti, thanks so much for the information on the Steller's Sea Eagles. That is wonderful that they changed the law to try to avoid lead poisoning. Janet, and ElaineRuth, Thanks for that beautiful photograph...will have to check out the site to see if there is any information who took it. (Maybe someone we know!). It would certainly get my vote too. sandie, I have bumped up the Technical Thread in the Questions Forum. This may give you some hints, when you read through this, as to how to post your photos. If you are still stuck then PM me and we will try to talk you through or you can send your photos to us and we will post them for you. kljinusa, I am following with interest the Calling All....thread. You, Ms. Cruz Director, are doing a great job. I think it is also great, that Troth and Catzsong, are able to give you imput with their experiences on the Island too. I am sure you will all have a wonderful time together and of course we are all expecting a load of photographs after the trip! Well looks like the IWS Crew may be filing the update later tonight....we forget that they have put in a full days work and then some..... I will check back later to see if it's in........ anxious to see how our girl is doing...... |

Hmm, Eagle D is not around much these days. New job and new girlfriend keeps a young man quite busy. I miss his sense of humour! BTW, Anyone know where Ojailala is? She hasn't posted since last weekend and I PM'd her on our island trip, no reply. I may have to file a Missing Persons report if we don't hear from her! |

Karen, nothing so far. We are hoping that we can arrange to come down sometime next year. Roy is still off work at present on disablity, from the three surgeries he has had over the past two years, and now he has a herniated disc to contend with so.......... Will keep you all informed....want to meet as may of you as possible when we do get there! ojailala/Linda was going away for a few days, until Wednesday I think she said, so she maybe back later tonight. |

The only call from Animal Planet this week was asking if I wanted to be part of a new show called Ms. Adventure. No news about Hero of the Year. |

Ok, I missed the Ojailala plan, so I won't worry about her for now. We look forward to your visit to Southern California and the Channel Islands. Next March/April would be good, the island wildflowers will be blooming... And the grey whales migrate during that time. |

Well, we love you for your dedication to our Channel Islands. It may be Steve Irwin that gets this award, posthumously. |
