Hi Ninja Shirpa/Cathy/VCOE:

Recently some of our members have noticed the discussion board getting a little sluggish at times when changing pages. I personally have not experienced this, however, I'm wondering if we are possibly bogging down the system a little since we now have a rather substantial amount of posts along with "a lot" of pictures? I know that some of the picture file sizes must be quite big. Does this have any bearing on our discussion board, or am I way off on this and it doesn't matter how many pics we upload?
Thank's in advance for your answer!

Bea,

The pictures that people link to in a posting are not stored on the forum anywhere, so they won't bog it down or consume any resources. When you link to an image in a post, it is downloaded directly from the web site that has the photo to your machine - the forum server doesn't have to do anything. So no worries there.

I noticed a couple of times some slow responses as well, but those can happen for a lot of reasons, including a temporary slowdown on the server, or just something slow on the network. Overall I've found the forum response to be quite quick and consistent, so perhaps it was just a temporary problem.

Ostrich: I don't think Bea was referring to the links, I think she was referring to the actual photos that are posted of all of our families, etc.

I, too, have wondered if there is a space limit as to how much can be posted to this forum. I remember seeing a request posted on that "other" site about not including all the quotes because it was taking up too much space and they only had a finite amount of space to use. I don't know how all of this works...I've just been figuring if it's a problem, Cathy R. will let us know and maybe start deleting old stuff if necessary.

I have not experienced any sluggishness except on the photos thread where it takes it awhile to load the photos but even that goes pretty fast for me.

Peppermint, that is exactly what I was thinking about. A lot of our pictures are not linked to anywhere, but are posted right into the forum.
I really have not have any problems either, and was just wondering about it.

I had this problem, but for one day only. It's not an issue for me any longer.
