Totally agree with you about the shirts for us girls, Karen! How about some V necks or scoop necks??
Picky, picky, picky! First I want T-shirts then I complain about the neckline! ;) :)

The standing ovation was for the DVD, not me. They did ask questions and I explained all about Cruz. Most of these people are great animal lovers and they were fascinated by the idea of what IWS is doing. One is going to catalina this weekend and wants to check out IWS.

Two of the ladies run "People for Parrots" which has a website on myspace. They saw a video put on myspace where a kid tried twice to set a parrot on fire. They called the police and traced the video to Paso Robles and a 16 year old kid. He has been arrested and they are going to testify at his trial for animal cruelty and arson. Some people are sick and this kid looks like a pending mass murderer if he doesn't get turned around. It just makes me sick.

I am going to go to bed soon, still tired. Good night to you all.

I agree, we need women's tees. There are plenty of t-shirt vendors that could provide some product, they just need the embroidery art, there are machines that do it. I do have experience in this type of product...perhaps I should contact IWS regarding this. I think they would sell heaps of women's tees. Hey, we are mostly women on this discussion board.

Skellis, that's horrible about the boy and the parrots! But wow- what an awesome job to those two women who made such an effort to stop such evil acts.
And good job to you, too, for your presentation and efforts to educate more good folks about IWS. Get some well-deserved rest now!

I heard about the Santa Anas on the news today, too. Bad timing! But I guess that just comes with the territory living in So Cal! The price we pay for all of this beauty.... At least it's been awhile since we've had a big quake. Oh, wow, maybe I shouldn't say that! :(

Good morning all - surely hope the fires don't affect anyone directly and for sure we all worry about the wildlife. Big fires a couple years ago destroyed acreage at the Boy Scout Ranch in NM but as nature does, it's coming back and the animals, ever so slowly, are returning!

Hope everyone is feeling better and improving! I never make a good patient! It's raining here - again - all day! But it's more and more like fall and I love it! No camping yet this month instead we will be spending a day with the Coast Guard (and maybe get rides on the boats)!! Camping will start next month - woo hoo!!

Dr. Sharpe - Glad to hear Animal Planet call for whatever reason (even if not the one we are hoping for). I too think the award may just end up being to Steve Irwin and that's great too! But just a side note no matter what - Dr. Sharpe (and all of IWS) is truly our "Animal Planet" hero! As we say here in NY - BULLY to you!!

OK time to go to work -argh........

It breaks my heart to think of all the wildlife that is lost in these fires. This one is over 20,000 acres already. I know nature comes back but some of those animals can not.

Regarding hotels, I get almost all mine through Priceline by naming my own price. I stayed in Ventura last night for $60 and often get 3 and 4 star hotels for about that price.

While driving from Ventura to Los Angeles this morning I had to have my windshield wipers going most of the time because of a heavy mist, but no real rain.

I just watched the replay of last nights "Colbert Report" on Comedy Central. They did a several minute long piece on eagle A-46, which was adopted by Stephen Colbert when it was at the San Francisco Zoo. You can see it at "http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_colbert_report/index.jhtml". There are videos listed down the right hand side (you may need to open the list of videos). Choose the one with the bald eagle chick. It was pretty funny.

Oh geez, I got a an MS error message when I tried to paste Eagle Guys video on internet explorer, my virtual memory was not up to speed. I've never gotten this message before. I'm not one to automatically download updates unless it's through Microsoft, so I did not see it.

Hulabird, can you explain this to me???

I watch Jon Stewart every night, he is my news caster, I love him and then I usually leave it on for the Colbert report. I didn't even pay attention to the story on the eagle. Oh wait I was in computer horror about then with my slideshow disaster. Thanks for the link, I got to see it again. What a great thing to do, adopt an eagle. I wish I was rich, I would give so much to restore the islands and I would want to adopt one of every species of animal. :P

Oh I LOVE Steve Colbert...my son watch him and Jon Stewart all the time. Gotta go check that out! So cool he adopted one of the eaglets!

The rain was brief but was pouring enough that it woke me up and was running down the gutters at 6:30am. I jumped out of bed to close windows...too bad it didn't get over into the fire area. I think the weather guy said it was moving in a northeast direction this morning....very odd. But it was very misty when my son and I drove back from Santa Barbara at 7pm this evening.

Ok off to check out Colbert Report.

Darrell is in love, and working, so I'm not suprised we haven't heard much from him. But he'll pop in with some witty comments when we least expect it.

Yep...that's about it...

Karen you summed it up nicely.

By the way everyone...and I scanned the posts and didn't see mention of the fact that today is the 2 month anniversary of Cruz Fledging and we only have a month to go until the raffle...I'll try to post more on this over the weekend.
