Hi, I can't find the message regarding Arlington West. I thought I had pictures but can't locate them; but I can go down to the beach tomorrow and take new pictures. Is there anything special (a certain cross, etc. ) that you want photographed, or just the overall picture? I think it is a wonderful memorial to our troops that have died. |

Sandie, you can order the T-shirt's etc on the IWS website. Just click the link below, and hold your mouse pointer over the last picture on the top where it says "Contribute" and then click on "Bald Eagle Recovery" when that pops up. Hope that helps. http://www.iws.org Good afternoon everyone. Will be in and out as I have a lot of things to do today. It is rather windy here in Camarillo today, and I too am wondering about the fires. Have not had a chance to watch or listen to any news about it. Will check back in later. |

Pat, has your husband every considered selling his stuff on ebay? Sounds like what he does would find a market there! I have bought things similiar to that for babies rooms. Here is an example of what I got for each of the girls: ![]() Their's were in the Beatrix Potter motif. You send this lady the childs name and she makes this poster of a poem using the initials in their name. And you get to select the motif. She is a young mother and is very accommodating. I emailed her asking for different colors, etc. and she did anything I wanted. They are very inexpensive, too. Well, teehee, I'm not trying to drum up business for her. Just wanted to show an example of the type of things that are selling there. Just a thought. Pax |

Cockney: Regarding Arlington West....I just thought it would be a cool thang to show along with the other "memorials" people were posting. I think it's amazing how those people put it up and take it down every single Sunday. I didn't even know about it until a friend from Texas asked me about it a few months ago! Even though I am opposed to the war, I find this tribute very touching. |

Good Afternoon~~yes, as Bea said earlier, it's a windy one here. Wonder if tomorrow will be stronger winds? Haven't checked the TV weather reports, but I call this Crackpot weather---and fear for fires as well. Cumbrian, I hope Roy fares well at the market. I think the plaques sound lovely. I wanted to mention that I met a wonderful woman yesterday. She said she has seen bald eagles in the Mt. Palomar area. She loves Red-tail hawks and said these birds have helped her heal from the loss of her 25-year-old son. He died 6 years ago, and she believes the hawks have been her healing messengers. She's a retired grammar school music teacher. Maybe I can send her an IWS NOTECARD and encourage her to join us. Her husband was one of my husband's students many years ago. Nice nice people. I was over checking out empty nests and noticed that the Col-Mandos video is posted on the Eagle Tracking page. Goodbye for now...hope to check in later, but it's nearing chore time. |

I'm in Santa Barbara waiting for my companion to get home to go on up to the game. VERRRRRRY windy here on the mesa...but gorgeously blue clear sky. Great weather for ringing up and soaring! |

Nancy, thanks for the great barn owl nest cam. They have such cute faces. Sandie, it was fun talking with you and your sweet Bernie this morning. We didn't find anything exciting at the swap meet except for about 30 old hotel mattress pads that we bought for 50 cents each. We use them for the dogs. Peppermint, good luck to your team today. Be sure and let us know. I found a spotted dove on Thursday with an injured neck. Its twisted around so that he seems to be looking over his shoulder. I've been nursing him back to health. Just tried to feed him some cream of wheat and millet spray. He liked the spray but gave me a talon down on the cereal. That happened to one of my lovebirds not long ago. So I kept him in my room with me and after about a week, his neck went back to normal. Hopefully this poor dove will recover as well. I've also been giving him liquid amoxycillin. That stuff works like a miracle when my birds get under the weather. |

It was windy here in Ventura as well, but it was coming in from the west. Our severe Santa Ana's come in from the east. And the Day fire is still going, the smoke is drifting over town, the sun is blood red right now. Hey, I should have shared this before: There is a webcam on the Crowne Plaza Hotel (formerly the Holiday Inn) overlooking the pier and the beach. You can move it around, somewhat ackwardly however; I always move it to the right, which is west. We have great sunsets in the fall and you can take snapshots. I got a really good one last year, KLJinOZ had it as desktop for months. Anyway, if you look now, you can see the smoke drift at the top. http://web.venturacountystar.com/webcam/ |

If you keep clicking on the right side of the screen, the cam moves west. You can see our Channel Islands out there! |

Karen, thanks so much for the reminder about the Ventura Webcam. I knew about it, but completely forgot it's there. Looks really smoky when you go to the right. Winds have died down about 2 hours ago in Camarillo, but, as you said, the sun is blood red and there is A LOT of smoke in the sky. I took a couple of pics of the sun a minute ago. Gonna see if it turned out okay. Be back in a little. |

Hi Everyone.. Just checking in to see who's on board today.. I've been to a one year old birthday party in Ojai and the sky was so blue at 1:00 and when I left at 4:30, it looked like the fire was just over the mountain.. Hard to believe that it is so far away, but things can happen fast with fires and the winds have picked up...I feel so sorry for the wildlife and now the condor sanctuary in danger... Watching USC and Nebraska... good game. |
