Whales & wildflowers in March... how beautiful is that?

BTW, Animal Planet will air the Steve Irwin Crocoseum tribute live from Australia on our Tuesday night, 9pm.

Helen, you don't even want to know my opinion of Hawaii and we have NOTHING whatsoever here that compares with the glorious Gold Coast of California. At least on this island (Oahu).

Bea: that island is called Bird Rock I think.

Just heard a fire update on KCLU. The APCD has issued an air quality advisory for schools to limit outdoor activities to as minimal exposure as possible. Poor teachers...keeping kids inside on a warm day! I don't know if this applies to colleges or not, but definitely to public schools. Kids kinda bounce off the walls when it's windy...something about negative ions in the air...or is it positive ions?

Karen, Santa Rosa in March does sound lovely! Spring is my favorite time of the year.

You can see Bird Rock there too....a little to the right. Catalina has a lot of little "Rock" islands.

Reminds me of growing up in Upland, about 45 miles east of LA. This was in the 1970s when smog was really bad (much worse than today, believe it or not!). We would have 3rd Stage Smog Alerts at times and would be kept from playing outside at recess and lunch. Of course, in So Cal the schools are generally not built as indoor schools so we we mostly confined to our classroom, like on a rainy day. I'm sure we were bouncing off the walls and I didn't consider that those poor teachers never got a break all day.
Naturally, we'd run around like monkeys after school and I remember having "smog in my lungs," where my chest would ache with every breath.
As a kid, I thought this was a normal part of life for everyone.

Bea/Eagle Duo...that's amazing I have never heard or seen that before. Thank goodness we learn something everyday!

Night everyone. Let's all pray for the wind to continue on it's southernly path and keep the fires from spreading and putting our Eastern county in jeopardy.

Well Hulabird, if you ever get to the Santa Barbara area, you must see the view of the city from the end of the pier. I have to say it is paradise!!! And the view of the islands after a big storm is breathtaking. Really!

Time for bed here, too. -_-
I hope and pray everyone is safe tonight. Such a crazy weekend: wildfires in the west, a tornado in Minnesota, hurricanes in the Atlantic.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers tonight.
Good night everyone!

Ventura County Residents: here's another link to check for fire updates throughout the night. It's the Ventura County Sheriff Department website.
