Good Morning all and big welcome to Polly 23. Don't be afraid, jump on in the water is just fine or should I say the nest is :D Glad to read about the condors. Do worry about those big guys. Hope everyone is doing well and has a great day. Since I'm back at work with full steam ahead I won't have much time to check. But I'm thinking of you all. Have a great day.

Hey lookie there. Polly came back! Sorry I missed your reply yesterday. (at the time). Had to make the house look like I did something besides sit in the nest all day before hubby got home. Don't feel like you have to lurk. We want to hear all about you and from you.

By the way, have you gotten the DVD yet?

Beautiful pictures of the eagles yesterday, Naturegal! Thanks! (I'm just now catching up on last night's postings.)

The fires just break my heart. Just the idea of all the wildlife getting caught in them makes me cry. All my best to all of you who are affected.

You mean today is not the 20th?

Bird, this is a new avatar for you, isn't it? What a beautiful bird...I love it!

The wildlife losses depress me EVERY fall. If it isn't in Ventura County, it's always elsewhere---not so bad when caused by nature, but the arson fires really depress me.

Good morning everyone from the foggy coast. Yes...FOG!! Actually, it's starting to clear now but I'm hoping the moisture from it will make it over the hill and help the firefighters. It's supposed to be a bit cooler today too which should also help.

Bea: I didn't even notice the wrong date...Tuesday, Sept....close enough for me!

Polly: Welcome...wanna cracker? sorry...couldn't resist...can't believe someone else didn't already say it. I'm sure you get that a lot. That's ok...I was born in Kansas and people ask me if I know Dorothy..ha..ha..ha.

Condors: Feast on those rattlesnakes!!! yeahhhhh...I hate snakes.

CarolAnn: I got the significance of your dragon avatar right away. I just figured you were the one that originally saw it that way. It is verrrry cute!

Hula: since you're all in practice and everything...can you come and make MY house look like I've done something besides sit in the nest since banding day???

Harpo: photo is toooooooo cute!!

Ok...I'm off for most of the day now. Have to take my 85 year old neighbor's sister to the airport...neighbor is coming along for the ride...then she will be my guest at our Bookkeepers Association luncheon...then taking her by the hospital to see her daughter. If any of you have done things with 85 year old little ladies...you will know why I anticipate all of this to be an all day event. I can't help it....she is just a cutie...absolutely adorable. Prayers for her daughter though...she is a manager at the Santa Barbara Zoo and has become overwhelmed with exhaustion...happened after the annual Zoo-B-Q. I'm sure with rest...she will be fine.

Sorry for the long post but now I am gone.....poof!

Good morning everyone. I have been here but mostly lurking.

I retire at the end of the week and I am really busy getting ready to move from Southern California to Northern California. I will be living in a little town called Fortuna. Fortuna is about 20 miles from Arcata, the home address of IWS.

I couldn't find any good eagle rescue stories but I am including a link to an eagle restoration project in Oklahoma. Lots of interesting information and it looks like they have a nest cam every year.

Yes, it is a new avatar; thanks for noticing. :) I'm slowly but surely "coming into the light." I kind of liked being a lurker, just hanging in the background and reading what you all posted. But I found myself wanting to respond more and more to what you all were writing, so I started posting. It was a little scary at first, like being the new kid at school. When I felt a little more comfortable with posting, I figured I better take the next step and find an avatar. I thought a bird might be good (because my screen name is Bird), and I chose a robin (because my name is Robin). I'm glad you like it.

HB: I had no idea what you all were talking about when you said something in a post yesterday about Dr. Sharpe being online and how he would see your picture and your puddle. Someone today made another allusion to it and said something about it being in the family pix thread, so I had to go in search. Hilarious!!! You crack me up.

Thanks for posting this link Hedi. I found it particularly interesting because my home state is Oklahoma, and it makes me proud that Oklahomans are helping the eagles, too.

Hedi--thank you for your eagle link. I haven't looked into it yet, but I've always enjoyed your rescue links. Good stuff. And good luck to you with your move. I'll bet your new home will be beautiful!

Bird--Robin, glad you're feeling more comfortable with posting. I have to admit, there are many posts in other sections that I cannot get to. I try to keep just barely on top of the daily chat...and honestly, do miss many posts, even here. The secret must be to keep away from feeling pressured---and it will be nicer for you. Now that Darrell (Eagle D) has a new job, he is most likely not able to spend as much time here. It is always a nice place to drop into when there is time. I have noticed that MUCH good information is under What Are Your Questions---and much fun stuff under Videos & Photos.

P-Patti---I love those sweet little elder ladies---and yes, time has a different meaning at their speed. What a job your neighbor's daughter must have! Have fun today!

I'll be lurking...but have some things to do. I hear Red-tails---going to get my binocs...bye for now~~~

welcome Bird and Polly, you will find this forum to be helpful and heartwarming because of the great people and of course our Cruz, and her lovely parents.

I heard on the news that the baby condor may be affected because it is due to fledge in the next two weeks, It seems to be holding up well with the smoke and is being monitored. Here's hoping that the parents will continue feeding and tempting the baby to take its first flight.

Another news item, a guy was arrested at LAX carrying 4 endangered birds in his back pack, 4 baby endangered leopards in the luggage, and two pigmy monkeys in his underware. Personally I hope they bit his "banana" several times during the 18 hour flight. Personally, he should be in the cage, and the animals should be returned to the wild. Imagine, however, what it would be like sitting next to this guy in the plane, and the bulges start moving. Also, why didn't the airport screeners see the birds or leopards when they went through Xray?

I have to go work and will check in later.

Good morning again people, and let me just say thank's for being so forgiving. I got some really good chuckles out of all of your replies regarding my posting the wrong date. Maybe I should do that more often?

Harpo, Groundhog day, that is exactly what came to my mind last night after I noticed my mistake. And I checked, re-checked, and checked again, and STILL made a mistake. LOL!!

You guys are the greatest!
At work now, but I'll check back in a little later.

Patti, don't forget your big hat!!! Happy viewing.

Skellis: Bite the banana, love it. I too think he should be put in a cage. What is wrong with people. Money is the root of all evil, I guess, I am sure he was doing it for the money.!! CREEP!
