Actually, every member only needs to do 18 searches now. That's less than two per day between now and Sept. 30...we can DO IT!!! GO GO GO!!!!!!!!!!

Sandie, is your avatar a real picture of your bird? If so, I'm with everyone else . . . How did you get him to blink?

peppermint, I was giving us a buffer saying 20 searches per member. Of course not all the members are actually active either, sooooooo looks like a lot of us will have to pick up the pace! :P

nancy: what a cute bird my husband wants to get something larger, etc. than our parakeets but we have lots of commitments that take us away from home and it's bad enough as it is with our 2 little ones and the dog - I can only imagine with a larger bird! Plus our "sitter" is willing to deal with the parakeets - would never happen with something bigger needing more attention! So I guess that means I'm his "big bird" fill in! :P

OZ, WAKE UP!!!

I watched the Steve Irwin tribute on Tivo late last night (thanks for the heads up KLJinUSA). What was that song? Who was the singer? Was the song written for Steve? Where can I get the lyric (nevermind...I can goodsearch that part) I didn't like it much at first but at the end of the program, I loved it. Seems like it might be called "True Blue" but I couldn't tell because of my bad hearing and was half hearing/half lip reading. The song came into my dreams last night and I keep kind of humming it to myself today. Very touching show. I have it on Tivo (with DVD burner) if anybody missed it.

What a tear jerker but in mostly a happy way.

Oh and Peppermint, I got the biggest goosebumps when I saw Crikey spelled out in the yellow flowers. It was wonderful!

Sandie, Bernie is one cute little boy! See how easy it is to post the pictures? Thanks Jann.

Nevermind Ozzie, I just rewatched, got his name and goodsearched him every which way but sundown. Go back to sleep hunny buns.

I liked that guy in the blue shirts smile. Keeping Steve's life upbeat, positive and happy. Wasn't mourning but celebrating instead. Also loved no commercials and the packing up of Steve's things at the end. I bawled like a baby. I'm sure I'll have more to add later. Wes was killing me.

Been on the cams and not in forum, but saw the WE eagle and must be #69 as the other two only have silver leg bands.....but maybe it's another eagle and not #69. I cannot see the writing at all.

Edit: Taken from IWS West End Nest camsite information--but a 25-year-old male (presumably Shenandoah) disappeared before the 2006 breeding season and was replaced by #01 male. So is #01 an orange wingblinger?

Facts about the nesting trio of bald eagles.

Name -- Sex Age -- Weight -- Wing Span -- Markers

Shenandoah
Male
25 years
~4.3 kg (~9.5 lbs)
~207 cm (~6.8 ft) Silver leg band on right leg

Wray
Female
20 years
~5.3 kg (~12 lbs)
~221 cm (~7.3 ft) Silver leg band on left leg

Dianna
Female
20 years
~5.3 kg (~12 lbs)
~221 cm (~7.3 ft) Orange wing markers (#69)

Another thing I wanted to add is earlier this week I saw a promo on AP (Animal Planet). It showed Steve looking over his shoulder towards the camera (smiling as usual). Then in slow motion, he turned back forward and continued walking into the "mist". The voiceover said something like "Don't worry mate, we'll take it from here". Oh man, grabbed my heart and just squeezed. Couldn't help but getting choked up.

I managed for the first time to save an image of the West End nest. I cannot do this on the Santa Cruz Island nest. Do not have the "Save an Image" option. ??? I think I see a first digit as a "6"---but can't be certain.
