Jann I was anxious to try this out....Does my Bernie appear?? We shall see. Thank you thank you thank you

Cumbrian...I have had a lot of those kind of days too. Glad to know you are keeping up with us and checking on us. We'd be lost if you weren't

The birdies are flying around today here a lot more than they have. I think that must be a good sign for the fires.

I talked to a good friend of mine last night. She was mourning the loss of her tree. The fire marshall came around and decreed that this tree had to come down in case an ember were to fly over there it might take her house down. This tree housed hummingbird nests in the past. I was pretty upset. But glad to know the fire marshall was out there looking into these types of things.

Sandie, congratulations! I just love your avatar!!! It's perfect!

Thanks for the eagle pics. Very exciting! They have ocean view apartments so have a much better chance of going back to the nest. Plus they've lived there for years. I wouldn't be surprised to see the queen of the island taking a tour of that nest.

Here's the words to the John Williamson song called True Blue from the Steve Irwin Memorial Service. P.S. I goodsearched it.

Hey True Blue, don't say you've gone
Say you've knocked off for a smoko
And you'll be back la-ater on
Hey True Blue, Hey True Blue

Give it to me straight, face to face
Are you really disappearing
Just another dy-ying race
Hey True Blue

True Blue, is it me and you
Is it Mum and Dad, is it a co-ockatoo
Is it standin' by your mate when he's in a fight
Or just Vegemi-ite
True-ue-ue Blue, I'm a-asking you

Hey True Blue, can you bear the load
Will you tie it up with wire
Just to keep the show on the road
Hey True Blue
Hey True Blue, now be Fair Dinkum

Is your heart still there
If they sell us out like sponge cake
Do you rea-eally care
Hey True Blue

True Blue, is it me and you
Is it Mum and Dad, is it a co-ockatoo
Is it standin' by your mate when she's in a fight
Or just Vegemi-ite
True-ue-ue Blue, I'm a-asking you...

True Blue, is it me and you
Is it Mum and Dad, is it a co-ockatoo
Is it standin' by your mate when he's in a fi-ight
Or just Vegemi-ite
True-ue-ue Blue, True-ue-ue Blue

HB--thanks for the lyrics...the cockatoo---that did it; tears. They are my white angels.

Cumbrian--hope today is better for you & Roy. It's frustrating when there are a string of those days.... <_<

Sandie--I love your avatar! One of my budgies escaped her cage this a.m. and I caught Tu, the newest family member, giving her his Evil Eye when she landed on his cage. He is looking so much better now! A huge molt--but he's looking really sharp, except that tail feathers all molted--coming back in. He and Tea may grab one another's tail feathers...it's a possibility--but that's the extent of their aggression. Anyway, I caught the budgie after some chasing. Poor little thing, but she's ok. Preening.

Nancy: Buddy is a real cutie, also!

I will be lurking...stuff to attend to.

Hi Polly, I see you! Sorry I haven't gotten to speak with you directly yet but please do make yourself at home. You're among family now. If you have any questions or need help on anything, you can post to the group (there are people hungrily waiting to help), or if you're too shy, you can PM, IM, email, or call me directly. We're so happy you keep coming back. You must see some potential here. And all you other newbies, get on out here so we can show you the meaning of the word mantle.

Ack, I'm just watching Bindi's speech again. I think I'll go and sob now.

Buddy is a beautiful cockatiel! Such vibrant colors! Cockatiels are a great 'inbetween' bird. Larger than a parakeet, but not as large as a parrot and soooooo easy to tame! And such great personalities.

Thanks Patti & Naturgal for the pictures of the eagle on the West End nest. All I could get out for a number was a possible 6 as the first number.....which probably means it was #69 on the nest? Maybe? And thanks, saraoh, for the heads up so we could all see it!

Didn't get to watch the memorial last night, but driving this morning to excercise class, Klite 101.7 played Bindi's tribute to her father, followed by "I Will Remember You." Definitely a pull at the heart strings and a few tears (but with sunglasses on and the sun facing you causes steaming up, not a good idea if you know what I mean).

Have a happy .........

OMG Wes is putting all of Steve's equipment on his truck as if he was loading himself. He is so obviously sad. I am happy (for his life) yet crying. You have to watch it more than once to get the full effects. Here come the yellow flowers. Did everybody get to see this? Not a dry eye in the venue.

There you are girl. Don't feel pressured (she says as the thumb is placed directly on the neck). Do what is within your comfort level. And you know what, when nesting season begins, you positively will NOT be able to contain yourself. So we'll all sit here, tapping our perfectlly peditured toes, waiting for you to move on into the nest with us.

LEIGH!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome back! Oh man, where did you go? Shyness is a virtue ( I think in real life) but whoever your are, we want you here and only I will "delve into your psyche" (just kidding). Please do feel like this is a safe place. We cannot know who, where, or what about you until you tell us. And not only that, but we're gonna swoop you anyway. How do you like them apples?

Wikipedia has a great article on Steve Irwin all the way up through the memorial.

His zoo webpage is worth checking out also.

Isn't GoodSearch wonderful?

Hi All
No credit to me for the Avtar....Jann was the one that showed me the "way" and made him eyes blink. But how come I can't see it from my computer????Buddie is pretty cute. They all look so much alike. But the personality...that's where they are all different.

Look,,,newbie's Leigh, Polly welcome to the struggle of trying to figure things out. Don't worry I know where Hulabird lives....can't get to her but I know where she lives!

So all my plans got so turned around today....here I sit waiting for things to happen. I am trying to do something special (for myself) and I'm afraid to jinx it so I'm keeping quiet for now.

Yippee, I sold my trailer. Kinda sad about it because I really enjoyed it while I had it. But that does not mean I can't still go to the beach and watch the dolphins play and the seaguls can still grab food right out of my hand. They are so bold
