Thanks for all the encouragement! OK Here goes....A lifetime dog owner, breeder and most definitely dog LOVER, my husband and I recently acquired an 18 month old sulfer- crested cockatoo named Lollie! What a difference she has made in my life as well as Chris' (my husband). She is truly my "white angel" and I love her more than words can say. |

You're right Eagle Duo. The guy who sang that beautiful song called "True Blue" on the memorial is a very well known singer in OZ. I've been checking him out and you should too. Perhaps Ozzie can add something about him that we can go on about. |

LEIGH : Know what you mean. I grew up around hogs / dogs/ chickens / cats! Never knew birds. It was my hubby's doing that got us the 2 little parakeets we have - they have such personalities and we love 'em so. Who knew! And it's been great fun to learn about BIGGER birds and see the same actions of my little guys repeated in the eagles! WOW! Anyway - welcome. OK it's late on the east coast - time to go home. Have a meeting (again) later but will catch up and "lurk" - later - be well :ph43r: |

LEIGH I had a sulphur crested for 10 years. I loved my Syd too except when he screamed for me. What kind of dogs do you breed???? I want a Coton so bad. I fell in love with one in Santa Barbara so much. They are so pretty and cute. Glad you wiggled your toes on in the water. We'll take good care of you! |

Sandie, go up to "My Controls" at the top right of the page. Go to "Board Settings" under "Options" on the left hand side. Check to see if "yes" is selected by "Do you wish to view members avatars when reading topics?" If it isn't, change it to yes and click on "Change my Account Options" at the bottom. |

A big hello to Leigh and Polly23 keep up the posting. We crave newbies and love all that you have to contribute. Sandie...I see your avatar for sure. You have to make sure that you are logged on to see them. Otherwise you just see the postings. At least that's what I found out trial and error. Harpo516 Buddy is a wonderful bird...and smart as a whip. My aunt started with a parakeet, and then acquired Buddy. He really isn't that difficult to take care of. Talks up a storm and whistles too. I personally have taught him Jingle Bells and Here Comes Peter Cottontail! If you can take care of 2 birds what's another. Ask Hulabird about that I missed the Steve Irwin tribute but maybe I will get a chance somewhere along the way. Thanks for the info. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day. |

Harpo, there's ALWAYS room for one more bird in our house. And that's how we got cemented to our house. Please know what you're getting yourself into before you take on animals. You now have a major responsibility and the more you have, the more you can't do. I have to admit, sometimes Woody and I get resentful but even we would take a simple "neighbor island 3 day getaway", the next morning, we were missing the kids and hopped the next flight back. Its a lifestyle and if you are running, it isn't for you. |

Leigh, there isn't any requirement for posting around here. We want to know you bad but that's our issue. If you want to lurk, lurk. We might not squeeze you as often because we won't see you, but if you ever do need a hug, just get on in here and you'll know the meaning of loving and mantling. And that goes for the rest of you peeps who are hiding out. |

Patti and Naturegal, thank you both for the screen captures on the West End Nest..... As we don't have Animal Planet on our cable package, we didn't see Steve Irwin's Memorial service. So thanks to all who are posting and giving us some of the details about it. LEIGH, I remembered you had posted in our Who are you? and Where from? thread.....so went back and re read your bio. (Page 11). Nice to see a Fellow Canadian here, especially one who has a home on beautiful Salt Spring Island........Great to hear from you again and learn a little more about you too. For any of the other new people, we also have a thread, well actually we have three threads, under Your Experiences. We would like to have your imput here so that Cathy the Administrator can read through the threads and possibly change some of the things that are suggested there to make it easier to navigate around the forum. Look for........... What New People To The Forum Need to Know--- Where to go to find the answers. What Does Not Work For You? --- On The Discussion Forum Discussion Forum: What Works For You--- How do you navigate around the forum? |
