My brother has a golden doodle, which is a golden retriever-standard poodle mix, and she is a wonderful dog. She loves to chase other animals though and on a couple of occasions unfortunately has actually caught one. A large dog but remarkably quick. |

Oh, Deb. I can't believe I missed it! Of course, I don't get very much TV time lately.

HB you are too funny Trust me - I know what the pet commitment is! We rented for a long time and after we bought we decided we would then get the birds and later added our find - Trinity (doggie). Like you said, the whole time we are away we are wondering if they are OK and of course you are sure no one takes care of them like you do!! So for the moment we are good - I'm sure down the road we'll add to our "family" and they will certainly be loved! |

ElaineRuth, thanks for the link. That poem was read with great passion by the writer. Even though he is gone, it is still good to know that Steve made a difference........especially in the way that children learnt about conservation.....that 6 year old daughter, of the writer of the poem, will never forget him anyway. |

There is some kind of bird (I think it's a crow or a raven) on the West End nest right now. |

Good morning everyone~! OK Hulabird, I am up and have been for nearly four hours now! My first step in the morning is to drink a glass of water, feed the meowing cats and then get dressed in my running gear. Next make the daughter's lunch, if i have time, get online, (butnot today) before out the door to drop the kid at the school bus stop and go for my jog at the local park. We took our dogs, poor Larry is having a real difficult time, so sad to see. Re Steve Irwin, that was news yesterday, all day. Today not much on the local paper and radio, I think everyone realizes Teri and family need some time out of the media spot light, try to get back as near as normal to life as possible. I'm not a country music fan, but Aussie country music is imbedded with Aussie soul, the other song John Williamson sang at the memorial was 'Home Under the Gum Trees', a favorite with the children. This memorial was very much geared towards the children, as it should be. Last year a TV morning program put up a contest to all the schools to create video this song. There were some outstanding entries which of course was aired nationally. The Winning school was an aboriginal community in Northern Territory who sang the song in their indigineous language, it was fantastic. Here are the words: Home Among The Gumtrees W. Johnson and B. Brown I've been around the world a dozen times, or maybe more, I've seen the sights and had delights on every foreign shore, But when my friends all ask me the place that I adore, I tell them right a way. Chorus: Give me a home among the gumtrees, with lots of plum trees, A sheep or two, a kangaroo, a clothesline out the back, Verandah out the front and an old rocking chair. I'll be standing in the kitchen, Cooking up a roast, with Vegemite on toast, Just me and you, a cockatoo, And after tea we'll settle down, beside the hitching post, And watch the wombats play. There's a Safeway on the corner, And a Woolworths down the street, And a New World's just been opened where they regulate the heat, But I'd trade them all tomorrow for a simple bush retreat where kookaburras sing. Some people like their houses built, with fences all around, Others live in mansions, or in bunkers underground, But I won't be content, Until the day that I have found The place I long to be. [BTW, a plum tree in Oz is a lilly pilly, it has little red berries which the native birds eat, we have a hedge of lilly pillies!] Here is a great web site for Aussie songs: http://home.iprimus.com.au/michellejbailey...gs.htm#Gumtrees RE
I have never heard of a golden doodle, but we have friends with labridooles... they are good dogs for people with asthma apparently. Ok, I have to go now, City appointments and shopping (for anything) tonight! Hoo Roo. KLJinOz |

I wouldn't count on it being replayed. Your best bet is to take Hulabird up on her Tivo copy offer. |
