Peter, Have you been in touch with John Beard about doing a follow up to the Eagles of Catalina DVD? The saga has continued on to the birth of Cruz and the success of the Santa Cruz Island fledglings, and the huge support from the fan club. If it was important enough to have a press release then should be followed up with another story. Come on, this was history in the making. It might be good for more exposure to the cause and generate more donations.

The camera man and co-producer stopped by the office a couple weeks ago and I mentioned the idea of a follow-up story. He was going to run it by the producer. |

Peter, That's nice to hear. I sent a couple of e-mails to fox-11 and never recieved a reply. Maybe this is it and you'll get the added exposure you and the program deserve. D

Well, this is sort of positive. Hopefully they will consider it and get in touch with you. Hmmm. . . maybe the A49Cruzers should roar in numbers and light a fire under the producer, we did love the first special. Just a thought. . . . |

If we had John Beard's email address, I'm sure us A-49 Cruzers might be able to influence him. Especially after he just won an emmy for the original. OMG, I need to go watch the video again just for that. BBL. |

I think in addition to just the story in general, what the producers might find most newsworthy in a potential followup is the historic nature of A49's birth and fledging. After all, she isn't just a successfully fostered bird as were shown in the last documentary, but she's the first wild eagle who was not only successfully born but successfully fledged as well. Now she seems to be thriving. If the producer asked me "well, why would this story be anything new from what we did before" that would be my answer. |

Well, it should be followed up as a success story of what they are really trying to do...that is, successfully breed on the islands without fostering. This has not happened yet on Catalina but since it HAS on Santa Cruz....twice!....it gives hope for Catalina. Peter: who should we mantle....John Beard or the Producers? |
