Hey All,

Well, it's Wednesday again! The birds seem to have settled into a bit of a routine over the last couple weeks. We still have a large number of them hanging around the west-end of Santa Cruz (including A-49), with a couple more making their way to Santa Rosa, and one bird jumping to the mainland (A-53). She flew to the mainland a couple days ago, and her last GPS point was in northeast Ventura county, but I've already received a report of a blue-tagged bird in the Carrizo Plane , so I'm assuming she's still heading north. We'll find out in a couple days when we get another GPS download from her. Hopefully she shied away from the fires on the way through (I'm sure she did).

I was out on the west-end of Santa Cruz again today. Lately that has been the go-to spot to see bald eagles on this island. It seems that we always see at least a couple birds every time we get out there. It definately makes the 3-hour round-trip worth it.

I did manage to see 3 more birds today: A-49, A-55 and A-02. I only caught a short glimpse of A-49 as she was soaring above the beach and heading south over a ridge. She's been on the west-end all week, socializing with the other birds and combing the beaches for anything edible that may wash up. I placed one of our trail cameras on an obvious perch spot (a driftwood log in a freshwater pond), and have been lucky enough to get some pretty good pictures. A-55 was standing in the pond, cooling his feet when I got there the other day. Anyhow, here are the trail cam pictures from the last week. That's all I have for now, I'll talk to you all again next week.

Dave

Based on the time of the photo, I'm pretty sure this if A-49 and A-55.

A-49 yesterday afternoon. I've been told that bright yellow feet are an indicator of good health.

Here's one of the Osprey that has been spending time on Christy beach.

I was soooo close to turning off the 'puter and the lights for the night when I saw the IWS Crew in the nest.... thank you, Dave, for the 'sweet dreams' to come of adolescent eagles with bright yellow feet playing with new found friends in a fresh-water pond.... sounds idyllic!
The time you take to bring us these weekly updates is so very much appreciated.

These weekly updates and pictures are so amazing. Loved seeing all the different birds in the area, and, of course, Cruz and her friends. A-55 looked like he/she was posing for the camera. It's so good to hear and see that she and the others are doing so well. Look forward to hearing more about A-53 and where her adventures are taking her. Thank you all so much for the time you take to report to us each week!

Question: Were these pictures taken at Christy Beach or ???

Thank you, Dave! It's so great to see the eagles AND the bonus birds! I see what you mean by that log being an obvious perch.
I love the look on #55's face, staring right into the camera!
Thank you so very much for all that you do!

Thank you, Thank you Dave.........another wonderful update about our girl and friends.

She looks great and that is so good to know about the bright yellow feet. Super photographs of all the birds, Eagles, Peregrine Falcon, Osprey and Raven......who I trust did make a quick get-away!

Hope that A-53 is safe on her travels to the mainland, looking forward to perhaps hearing more about her in next weeks update.

Thanks again for taking the time to keep us all informed of our girl's activities and progress.....we really appreciate all of you.

They are all magnificent birds, but #49 always seems to stand out even in a crowd. Thank you, again, for the great pictures and making our wait worthwhile. You guys are the best.

This is what happens when you fall asleep waiting for the Weekly Update, then wake up at 2:10 a.m. because your Umbrella cockatoo is trumpeting in his outdoor aviary! I jumped out of bed to shush him up and found these wonderful photos and notes on my way back to sleep. Thank you so much for all these great photos, & especially those of A-49. The Visiting Branch is rich with company!

Hey Dave,
As always a wonderful update. I loved the pic of A55, he is very handsome, and it is nice to see Cruz hanging out with him. Very good that she is still socializing and not motivated to leave the island yet, she is still a teenager so she needs to be careful out there. Also great to hear about A53, hope she has a safe journey on her tours and travels.
You are a rock star, Dave, thanks, love the updates.

Hopefully you can meet all of us when we come on Oct 22nd. Be prepared for a full mantle from everyone. Maybe you should bring the rest of the crew with you for security er, ah, I mean support.

Hi Dave
It's pretty silly I guess but I get a full chest of pride everytime I see A49. She has a full circle of adoptive parents around her from this side and a full circle of friends out there.
I love the way A55 is looking at the camera. Sorta like..."Do I know you?"

Dave everyone appreciates you and the IWS crew but do you really understand how dangerous it is to meet this group? We are unscrupulous in our caring and you may need some protection. We also are very appreciative. Thanks again Dave.
