Wow! That was fanstasic---seeing somebody at the nest. Thank you so much, Cumbrian, for the photos. Now I'm really motivated to figure out how to capture them off my Media Player. We know there's activity already at the West End nest---and now this evening in our nest. I think we'll see more to come. By the way, two scrub jays are very active around my yard. Saw 3 Red-tails this afternoon. It was a good day--and then with Cumbrian's photos...how great! |

Cumbrian, what a photo capture!!! I guess Mom & Pop are planning next year's family and checking to see what work needs to be done. We may start to see some nest repairs starting next month. Thanks Eagle Duo for the Nature Conservancy post! Harpo & Patti, my grandma raised parakeets and canaries (@ different times). My grandpa built her an aviary for the parakeets and I remember to this day my awe in going inside when I was a little girl and seeing the nests.. Your stories brought back fond memories. HB, sorry about your dove. You did the best you could. Love ya, girl... |

Hi Dear Forum Friends! Well we're home from Bass Lake and battling to close escrow on these two houses. We're heading to Big Bear tomorrow to get the keys. If all goes well it will record by noon tomorrow and then it is ours. I've spent the last two days getting insurance and utilities squared away as well as calling the real estate agent every hour to make sure no strange last minute problems have come up. Thankfully, by noon tomorrow, this part of the nightmare will be over. We've got the back of the jeep loaded, and will also be towing the boat up, also loaded down. So the move begins! Meanwhile, escrow is open on the Vista house with a close of escrow for 10/12. They have until Sunday to back out (after this happening twice before I'm just plain pessimistic). While we're gone tomorrow the mold inspector is coming in to meter for toxic spores. Hopefully, he won't find any, but it's about to drive us crazy at the thought he might. Anymore, I don't even want to answer the phone, 'cause there is usually another problem to overcome. I just keep telling myself, this time next month it will all be over. (I hope). I haven't started catching up with all the posts, just read the comments today and Wednesday's update. HB, sounds like some sadness for you, I'm so sorry. Cumbrian: you did it again! An eagle at the nest was a great picture to come home to. To all: I sure missed you while I was gone. I thought about you everyday, and kept my eyes on the sky for any eagle sightings, but, boo hoo, I did not see any. Did see ospreys, hawks, ducks, cranes, canadian geese, deer, stellars and scrub jays and vultures. I'll probably be a little MIA for the next couple of weeks due to packing up this place. We are going to try and be completely out by 10/8. But I'll check in and keep you posted. Well, got to get a little more packing done for the trip tomorrow, so I'll sign off. Good night dear friends, have a pleasant evening |

Bixby, finally!!! Congratulations!! And they won't find mold, it's pretty dry out there in Vista, isn't it. Now here in Ventura, it's a different matter. I keep those moisture absorbing things in all my closets, I empty a 1/2 inch of water each week. |

Cumbrian, how exciting! I just missed it and so glad you captured it and shared it with all of us! Think this means that K-10 & K-26 are planning to use the same nest again next year and are checking things out to start making repairs on the nest soon? Hope so! Thanks again for the great captures! |

Bix, great to see those flying ears again! Well, as you all know, school started back a couple weeks aga and as usual, the colds started going around. We have grandkids in 2 seperate schools plus daughter-in-law teaching in another. So we were doomed! It started with all of them about 10 days ago and I have been fighting it for about 5 days now but I think I lost! Really feeling punk, achy limbs, sinus's either clogged or running non-stop, sore throat and general feeling of malaise. So I have been mostly lurking and probably will till this gets better. But I will be trying to keep up with the daily posts. Baby just has running nose but poor Katie has 'been off her feed' all week .......... just not herself. Feel so sorry for the little ones. Well, back to the salt water gargle (it really is the best thing for sore throats). That and trying to get a decent nights sleep for a change 'Nite all and sleep slow. ![]() |

I have received the nicest PM from LoverofChicks regarding her poem. She is such a giver. She is allowing IWS to replicate her beautiful poem for donations. Frances thank you so much. Did you all know, she only checks in on Wednesdays for the update on our baby girl? Frances, we want you here. We NEED you here. And not only that but I'm taking orders. So who's up second? |

Yippeeee visitor to the nest Cumbrian thanks for that beautiful capture. How exciting that must have been. So they all seem to be scoping out property, just like Bixby moving on Oh Elaine please please rest and get well. I have finally started to feel better after a week of antibiotics and plain old rest. Since I work with kids I know that they are just little walking petri dishes galore. Take it easy that seemed to be what helped me a great deal. Nice to hear from you Bixby and good luck with all of the things that go along with a move. |

Cumbrian, thank you so much for the screen shots of the eagle on the SC nest!!! You must have been so excited. If I would have seen that "live," I probably would have wet my pants! Great shots! Bixby, I was driving to work the other day and saw someone walking a beagle. I had to get a really good look at him to check out his ears to see if they were long or short. I would say they were long -- just like your avatar! I always thought a beagle's ears were shorter, but there they were on this dog, pretty long. Not as long as a basset, but pretty long. |
