[QUOTEDr. Sharpe said on the questions thread that it's probably too early for them to be doing nest repair yet, but it's a good sign that they are visiting. Hopefully this means they will be returning from time to time and getting going on things in December. Perhaps they took a look at the state of the nest yesterday and decided procrastination is the best thing right now] I would have thought so, but if I am not mistaken, both birds at the Maine nest were bringing and arranging twigs, sticks, and a big ball of moss. They kept flying in and out of the nest with things they had collected.. ED and Hula, thanks for the screen captrues! I haven't found a way to do that yet. I don't receive the option when I right click on an image. |

Inner peace - yes that's what I need - inner peace - I think I shall go in search... as to Maine - colder weather sets in soon - actually even just a bit upstate here in ny is very close to seeing frost weather! maybe the cooler weather urges them to do a little work before all the twigs/branches are fozen to the ground! hmmm might have to look into that (when I get time - after inner peace) |

Lana: thanks for that link to the fires. Looks like they are just east of my brother...he should be ok. There's another one burning toward the city of Napa...is anyone here from that area? |

This is off the subject, but I just got finished doing some GoodSearching using Google Earth of Channel Islands as my search topic. kruzmisl has mentioned Google Earth a few times recently in reference to the October trip to Santa Cruz. For those that don't have Google Earth already, you really should look into it. There is a free version available on the web and it is amazing what you can see! |

My grandfather lives at the Veteran's Home in Yountville, just north of Napa. It's an incredibly beautiful area. He is visiting friends in Oregon right now to celebrate his 85th birthday so he's safe. I'm worried about all of the other vets at the home, though. Sure hope they'll be okay! |

OMG gone a couple of hours and all this has happened. Nest visitors. Maybe that redtailed hawk is looking for a room to rent. That way it doesn't have to build it's own. I'm glad the parents are coming back to check out what nestorations have to be made. It's good to go to work early on preparations. Especially now that they have nestexperience. Too bad there isn't a home depot for that! The fires are going to be bad again. I just pray for those people/animals in the burn area. Anyone know if the northern ones are arson also. A strange part of me understands the fascination of fire....in the fireplace! But not out in the wild like this. Harpo516....you are getting sleepy. See my hypnosis is helping so you don't need that wine!! Too bad I'm not closer. I could help you find your inner peace!! Got to go rest. This smoke is really attacking me and Bernie. I think I need to cover him up again. He must think I am really mad at him. Poor thing. |

I was gone for two hours and came back to a layer of black gritty stuff all over some stuff I had printed out right before I left and was sitting by my window. No wonder my allergies were giving me fits this morning. Sure hate to have to close up the house again while the air feels nice and cool. I thought we weren't supposed to be getting any more of this stuff until tomorrow?? |

Wow lots of captures today. Those hawks are so hard to identify aren't they. At first I thought the Peregrine Falcon but since it wasn't giving us a full head shot it is difficult to see. I went back to the Peregrine Falcon link that I posted this morning and it is close to that but then again a red tail would also be a good guess. The dead give away for the falcon is the "mustache" they have on their face. Take another look. See what we are all learning. Heading home soon and looking forward to the weekend. Have a good one. |
