Hulabird that video is hysterical. My niece's cat does the same thing but only at night, keeping everyone up. So, she closed the bathroom door and the little devil figured out how to open the door. Now she has a hook and eye closure about 6 feet up the door and it has worked. This cat is so smart that she sets off the alarm clock. She realized that when the alarm went off in the morning she got fed, so now she sets it off by pressing a play button on the alarm clock. Who says cats aren't as smart as dogs? LOL

Are any of our peeps in the midwest? Tornado troubles over there. Eagle Duo and I have Carol in Mt Healthy Ohio. She loves the gorilla cam. Going to have to holla at her this morning.

I don't live in the Mid-West, but we are having plenty of tornadoes in the area.

We've had warnings for 2 days now.

This area is on the line dividing Mid-West from South and Memphis calls it, the Mid-South.

How are all the people in the fire areas?

I can't find the time to read all the posts since I left, but I hope all is well with you!

Hulabird - still here in Santa Maria - I check the board and look at the nest every once in a while.

Have been busy, but we will probably go up to Lake Margarita tomorrow morning to do some fishing. Always a lot of wildlife around and, if we get there early, about 6 a.m. the deer are usually out feeding. Lovely, quiet little lake - no water skiing or fast boats, so it is very relaxing.

I copied this from the http://yubanet.com/fire.shtml website:

Information updated on Saturday, September 23, 2006 7:31 AM
Current National Situation:
Initial attack activity was light nationally with 21 new fires. There are 19 fires over 500 acres in six geographic areas. No new large fires (over 500 acres) started yesterday. Three large fires were contained. Red Flag Warnings are posted for most of California through the weekend.
There are 63 Fire specialists and managers from Australia and New Zealand assigned.
Fire Headlines:
Year to date acreage burned exceeds nine million acres, which is a record for this date.
[Day Fire Update]
Moderate growth continued yesterday on the 111,588 acre Day Fire, and fire fighters were helped by a cool and fairly calm day. The fire is now 35 percent contained and good progress was made to construct fire line west of Mutau Flat....
As of this morning, the fire is still approximately 7 air miles north of Fillmore, 9 miles north of Santa Paula, 7 miles south of Lockwood Valley, 12 miles south of Frazier Park, and 10 miles northeast of Ojai. Two Type 1 Teams are now managing the fire, one for the east and north side; and the other for the remaining flanks. With approximately 60 miles of line remaining to be built within a 91 mile perimeter, and managing over 2000 personnel, 24 helicopters, and abundant equipment it was a challenging task with just one management team.

The winds are really howling at my house this morning, which can't be good for the firefighters :(

Lana, winds just picked up here in Oak View but are still on-shore .. not east winds.
But, as I look towards the valley, the sky is getting white with smoke and it was clear blue an hour ago so I know things are happening. They are not letting anyone drive up 150 between Ojai and Santa Paula unless they live there... my CHP site is calling for someone to come and chase the lookie-loos away from St. Thomas College which is on 150, so that must be a viewing point for the fire.

Troth: When are you going on your trip to Scotland.

Had coffee this week with a friend who just got back from a month long trip to Scotland - she said it was wonderful - the countryside was beautiful and green, and the people were very friendly.

There was actually a program on the travel channel the other night about the Scottish Highlands - it made me homesick!!

Anyway, hope you have a great trip.

LB

Linda, nice to see you back.

I leave in 5 days and 10 hours, on Sep 29th. I am so excited that I am sick to my stomach. I have never gone anywhere over there. It has been a dream of my friend to go and when her friend had to cancel and she asked me, I almost choked when I screamed YES!! We are going to focus on the Highlands, Isle of Sky, Inverness, we will of couse start the trip in Edinburgh. I did see that Travel Channel Show you mentioned and it made me more anxious to go. WOOOHOO!! Two whole weeks of just traveling, no set plans and no agenda, just go have fun and experience the country. I will be taking lots and lots of pictures.

The wind is really blowing here at my house today. I hope it isn't stirring up the fire and causing havoc. I did see Santa Cruz Island pretty clearly. That's because of the Santa Ana wind.

Pretty nest, no visitors, sigh. . .
