Teri, sounds like you're a tad excited about your trip. Can't wait to see your pictures!

Lala, I'm a kitty person and I'm huge too. And I'm nuts about Nancy and Lulu. Where can I donate?

Hi to all: Gosh, I hope everyone in the geographic danger zones are doing OK. Tornados, fires, the ever lurking earthquakes, and I'm sure there is a hurricane or two still bouncing around over the oceans. Not to mention the fast approaching chll of winter. My thoughts are with you all.

Thank you all for the kind words, yes, I am so happy this move out/in ordeal is coming to an end.

They say good things come in threes: I got my third just a while ago. A cleaning service that specializes in move out cleaning is coming to clean my Vista house the day after we vacate: now that is a wonderful early anniversary, birthday, and Christmas gift. Yipee! I think if I'd had to clean it after packing it all up I would have just torched the place. Pretty bad attitude, huh...but now I can put down the matches and start humming my happy mantra again.

HB: actually 4 good things if you count the flushing kitty video...tears of laughter were squirting out of my eyes. I sent it on to my best friend, she has a cat who looks just like the one in the video.

Troth/Teri: I forgot to say how excited I am for you and your approaching trip to Scotland. That is so wonderful. WOW, I'd have to pack and repack my bag ten times before I left. And I guess I'd just have to give up trying to sleep for the whole week prior to departure.

Hope it is the trip of a life time.

Hey Bixby, after our last move, I vowed to my husband that it was never going to happen again unless we could afford professional cleaners on the old and the new and even more importantly, professional packers and movers. If those points are not met then we just can't afford to move. As years go by you accumulate. It literally took us 3 months to pack our stuff when we moved to this house. The torch approach works for me.

Hulabird, Thanks for the wonderful wake-me-up picture. That's how Amber stares at me when she wants to go to her cage on the porch. Thanks goodness she hasn't learned to flush the toilet.....but she does occasionally drink from it.

Bixby, I'm so happy for you that the house move is on it's way. We'll keep our fingers crossed for the other house to close timely.

The sky is getting brown clouds again, and the smell of smoke is getting heavier.

Again, my offer is open if anyone needs a place to escape to during this awful time. Phone # 805-683-1507.
It is like we're whammied whichever happens. If we don't get rain everything is tinder dry (high fire danger), and if we get rain it just makes the grasses etc. grow that much taller (high fire danger).
Everyone take care.

Good morning (for me) everyone! Its my Sunday and I was having a little sleep-in until Tiger kitty decided otherwise, a little like Naturegal's neice but the alarm is that Tiger is the alarm clock with a motorboat purr until I get up! Tiger doesnt do toilets (video too funny HB), but he does to the bathroom sink. I have a sliding bathroom door like the video and have to jam it shut with a folded paper to keep Tiger out. We cant afford to waste water as we are on Tank water.

Lala, 93! wow, I hope (as we all do) to live so long...

Bixby, congrats on the BigBear house, send some pics soon!

HB thanks for the wakeup owl (?) beautiful eyes and detail. RE: Tide, we dont have that brand here and I unfortunately cant use scents in my laundry as it makes my skin itch something terrible... I put out potpourri with vanilla in my bdrm though, love the smell.

Troth/Teri, lucky girl to go to Scotland, be sure to bargain for anything you buy, those Scots are frugal pennypinchers and will inflate the price for tourists. I had a 'flatmate' from Scotland who told me about that.

My news for the weekend is that we finally rented out our 'granny flat' - a 4 room self contained cabin behind our property, to a lady who seems perfect (if there is such a thing). She is an environmental scientist and is moving to Sydney from Melbourne on an assignment for bush regeneration. She moves in next month.
Everyone have a great day, its warm spring here, 80+ with a nice breeze.

A fire report from Ojai.. winds are still on shore and not hot at all, but.... the winds are 50 miles per hour at the fire and burning very strongly away from the towns of Ojai and Santa Paula... this fire will not be out for weeks, so we just hope the east winds don't show themselves too soon. The sky is full of smoke and the sun is orange again and I will go out and cover my car, just in case of another ash storm.

We are not having winds in Ventura, but it's quite warm, indicative of Santa Anas. I heard on the news they grounded the fire retardent planes & helicopters as the winds were blowing up to 50mph gusts. This fire is going to last a long time. It's the biggest fire in the US and it's burned (as of last night) 120,000 acres. That's a lot of forest.

HB, that cat/toilet video was a riot!

Teri/Troth, have a great time in Scotland, I'm so envious. We'll see you on Santa Cruz Island October 22..

Bixby, ditto on KLJinOZ, post up some photos.

Hi Everyone
I have been in Santa Barbara all day today. The drive back was terrible. The sun was turning that frightening orange and there was a lot of smoke around the Rincon going out toward Santa Cruz.

When I drove up into the foothills of Ventura there were billows of new smoke going up into the sky...I just wanted to cry. It looks just awful. Everyone one up there, I am so sorry. It must be awful to breathe that. My mail carrier was huffing and puffing and said it was really bad on her today. Usually she is here around 12-1 and she didn't get here today until almost 6!

Bixby...how exciting. I don't know what is worse moving out or in. I like the torch idea. That thought has crossed my mind a time or two.

Troth...I'm so excited for you  My friend is going to Europe for a month. She called me and asked if I would house sit. I almost felt like I was going on vacation too. She lives right by the beach in a mobile home park that surrounds a little man made lake. Going to be so much fun. She has a cute little poodle named Bailey and another cockatiel named Simon. Bernie will have a friend to play with.

HB....Good grief you could almost have woke me up clear from Hawaii with those eyes....Good thing I didn't turn on my computer first thing this morning.

KLJin OZ too bad your cottage isn't here...I would have rented it from you in a heartbeat. Congrats on finding the perfect person to move in.

Ojai...hicker/lala...Good grief I hope your places are well irrigated. Looks like from the sky you guys may be trying to find someplace to run to. I'm here if you need any help! 672-2425. Take care of yourselves. I worry about you up there in all that smoke. :(

OMG everyone. I just went outside and saw HUGE FLAMES coming down the hillside behind my apartment and toward Santa Paula. How terrifying....The flames keep flaring up wildly with the winds.

Tide has a new product called Simple Pleasures (Vanilla and lavender), and Downey has a complimentary product with the same name but the smells are waterlily and jasmine. I washed my comforter in that today and put it back on the bed. Closed the door and when I went in later, the room smelled like a beautiful field of flowers. Its a little more expensive than the usual stuff but I got a good deal at Sam's Club.

Hiya, Sweetie
Thanks for the great wake-up call, even if I'm just now getting to it at 11:06 PM EST!

About the laundry stuff.......... really works! I know because while he was working on me, my 30 yr old chiropractor asked me if I had just put on a newly laundered shirt or what, because it smelled soooo good.
Hmmmm.......... wonder what I usually smell like.

Keep safe from those fires, do not leave till the last minute like Hulabird says! Today in Oz it started off nice (as I posted earlier), but by late morning the heat intensified and the breeze grew to gusting. A total fire ban is in place for the entire State. As I was taking my daughter and her horse in the trailer to the Pony Club, there was 4-5 fire trucks at the top of my street, a small blaze had started. I called my husband to alert him, fortunately by the time we got back an hour or so later there was only 1 truck left (to ensure it did not flame up again). Here is a story about our fires today.

AGAIN, KEEP SAFE, do not wait to be told to evacuate.
