Oz, when I visited Australia in 1990, my friend who lived there taught me "subtract 7 hours and add a day," so I wouldn't call home in the middle of the night.
Sounds like that's about accurate, eh?

Lana, thats about right, but PLUS 7 hours, minus a day - for the West US Coasters. My Mom is AZ, so add another hour and also its diff during daylight savings time.

Lana That's funny, we have friends in England and a couple times he's forgotten the time difference and called us at 3AM!!! and when we answer half asleep, he realizes, apologizes and HANGS UP! I'm awake by then! :D

Lana, what part of Oz did you visit? Did you know that KLJinUSA used to live in CCountry? I lived with her for a couple on months too at one stage. That was some 20+ years ago!

I lived on a street called Daisy Meadow, off Sand Canyon.

That's how I calculate Australian time.

Good morning???? Ok if you say so!!

Well, the flames are almost all gone. They had me worried a little at first but the glow of the fire is diminishing quite a bit. Just took a little drive to look around. But some excellent fire fighting is going on up there on that hill. It was quite a ways from me but not much in the way of fire break between us and it.

Anyway I think things are just fine to stay. Bernie is all covered up and thinks it is his bedtime. Not too far from it. If you don't hear from me later (today) tomorrow, I will have escaped and taken all my important papers and Bernie and my pictures. It's funny...I filled up my tank on my car and put a couple more gallons of water in my trunk....just in case! It's hard to tell at night how far something is away from you.

Night night all...will chat with you guys later

Oh, that is too funny! I am practically around the corner, off Poppy Meadow Street. I walk my dog near your former neighborhood on a regular basis. Want me to take a picture of your old house or anything?

Sandie!
Thank you so much for checking in! Glad to hear you are okay and ready to evacuate if needed.
Are you sure you and Bernie don't want to spend the night somewhere else just for some peace of mind?

Lana, I lived on Daisy Meadow 25 years ago. I forget the address, but I do remember it was 1/2 up the street, south side. It would be great to see photos of it... but I can't tell you which one. I'm sure it looks a lot different now....
