ElaineRuth, those are beautiful words.......how true it is that, that is the last loving thing we can do for our beloved pets, to take away their pain, when the time finally comes to let them go. As you posted in yesterday's Observations thread about Rusty's fur ...... I too can remember the feel of my dog Glen's fur and it has been a very, very long time since we lost him........ Glad you are feeling better. Calling it a night folks...........Sweet Dreams. |

Kjinoz: really sorry to hear about Larry. It never gets easier having to make that final decision. Just know that we are all with you in thought and in our prayers and know that Larry won't suffer anymore - he will be sleeping with the angels. |

My Sweet Ozzie, There was this certain poem I know that I was looking for for you when I came on this site. (the poem is there). The music is so beautiful and there are a number of offerings there that you will find comfort in. Thank you Goodsearch. Ozzie, my deepest sympathies and maybe nothing any of us will tell you tonight will ease the pain but we are ALL with you, and Larry, and your husband and Larry will be shown the ropes at the bridge by all of our babies. I am so sorry for you and happy for Larry. http://www.coreyandmichelle.com/CoreyPage34.html |

Spent the day running around trying to think about a Halloween costume Since I work in a children's clinic it is expected to dress for the occasion. I dread it every year...But came up with a good one I think.....Cavewoman! complete with jewels and bone club! I made the dress and all I had to do was purchase hair and jewels. At least I won't be dashing around at the last minute like always. Just wanted to check in and wish all a good night. KLJinOz I hope that you and your family are feeling all of our thoughts and prayers. I will pray to St Francis tonight for Larry. Have a good night all |

Kath/Oz - My heart aches for you as yours ache for Larry. I think Elaine's post says it best. They rely on us to provide for them throughout their life and it is also our role to provide what is best for them at this time. Know that this is needed and is the kindest reward for all Larry has done for you. Remembering the happy and funny times you had together will ease the pain, I know... Bee |

I am overwhelmed by all the tender thoughts and messages from you all. Rex too has read all your tributes and he wants me to tell you what happened. He wants me to tell you all a little about ‘the best dog ever’. He and his then Partner in business, Ian, bought Larry & Felix from a breeder. Felix was picked out by Ian and was show quality, Larry was the runt of the litter and Rex picked him. Larry & Felix went to work with their Dads every day, staying at one home or the other. When Ian finally met his ‘Lady’ who had English Spaniels, the ‘boys’ stayed with us all the time thereafter. Of course they got to see Ian every day until @5 years ago both Ian and Rex decided to pursue other business interests. Rex kept the Boys. They were after all part of our little family. These last two days have been pretty hard on Rex, and Larry who wouldn’t walk so Rex had to carry him around. Rex had made the decision that Larry was ready to go, but he couldn’t quite bring himself to call the Vet. He decided that Ian needed to say goodbye too so he loaded up the Boys in the 4WD put Larry on a very soft coat and drove up to see Ian who, of course, was very upset. Ian said his goodbyes and Rex lifted Larry into the car again. Ian came over for one last pet….. but Rex said Larry had gone, gone to sleep. Really gone. Rex’ first thought was, “well isn’t Larry the most wonderful dog, right to the end. Larry knew how hard it was going to be for me to take him to the Vet so instead passed away in his sleep releasing me of a terrible responsibility.” One the way home, Rex drove by all the houses we’ve lived in (3) with Larry, sort of a funeral procession home. Tomorrow we are having a wake, to place him in the paddock with a memorial tree. Rex & I want to thank all of you again for your thoughts and prayers, these have helped our sorrow. I explained the Rainbow Bridge to Rex who now knows that Larry has lots of friends to greet him. Rex wanted me to post some pics in memory of Larry, His favorite ones, here they are: Just pups first day from the breeders With his niece & nephew (1992) Thank you THANK YOU everyone. |

Oh Kathy and Rex...what a beautiful ending to a beautiful companion's life! I don't even know your wonderful Larry, but gosh do I love him! I hope that today (Monday) is a little bit easier to get through knowing that you didn't have to make that vet appt. He went at the perfect time...when he was ready...AND surrounded by the people that loved him most! Thank you so much for posting some of your favorite photos of Larry. My thoughts and prayers will be with you today as you have Larry's wake and service. Please also find some comfort in knowing he's in a very peaceful place now and you all have another guardian angel watching over you. Please take care and let Larry know that he has become part of our lives too. Peace and God bless, Nancy |
