Good morning everyone. It's sunny and bright here. I'm hoping it was sunny and bright for Kathy and Rex and family as they put Larry down to sleep for the last time. Please read Kathy's post from last night. What a lovely and tender post. We're always here for you! Peace.

Kathy & Rex, my sympathies to you and your family.

It just proves what a special dog Larry was to take the difficult decision out of your hands.

Have a "Celebration of his Life". You will always remember the special bond your family had with Larry and the love that was shared by all. He is now at peace at The Rainbow Bridge and is enjoying a healthy and happy life with all our pets. He will never be forgotten.

Kathy and Rex,
I read your wonderful tribute to Larry it brought tears to my eyes. Larry knew that it would be hard on Rex, so he made it easier for him to the end. Larry was a true companion and friend to your family he is now at peace with all of our own wonderful companions greeting him at the Rainbow Bridge free of pain and suffering. I will think of you today as you plant your tree for Larry to grow strong and tall and a place to rest.

It is sad to hear about Larry, but it sounds like the situation went as well for him and as peacefully and without undue pain as it could under the circumstances. That is a good thing at least.

I've never had a dog myself (my mother had severe allergies and asthma when I was growing up so we could never get one) but my brother's dog Gracie looks just like a big white Larry. All of us would be devestated I'm sure if something happened to her - it must be hard to see him go.

Good Morning All~

The skies were clear this morning in Ventura and only a hint of smoke over the Rose Valley area. I hope all in the area are safe and today they will get that fire out!!

The nest looks gray and gloomy, we need to see some action here. Come K-26 and K-10, time for nestintory.

Kathy and Rex,

Wonderful pictures, my thoughts go out to you. I have another friend who had to go through the same thing Saturday. Jackson was 17 years and his people parents had a hard time making the decision also. They held a memorial in their back yard and we all planted a flower garden on his grave. He is buried next to his sister that they had to put down two months ago. A day at a time is all you can do. There are tons of puppies waiting in line once the sadness lessens, and they can bring such joy!! Look at those pictures of your babies when they were puppies, adorable.

Take care everyone. . .

Good Morning Everyone.

Hope today is a better day to help get all the fires in the area under control.

The nest looks very lonely! But I guess it is still too early for the adults to start the nestorations.....sooooon though.....time is flying.

KLJinOZ/Kath and Rex, I had tears this morning when I read your post, Sept 24th, about Larry's peaceful passing. It was almost like he waited, and put the thought into Rex's mind that he needed to see Ian, one final time too. I found this, whilst GoodSearching this morning. Hope it helps to ease your sorrow.

"Best Friends live Forever in the Memories we Keep" (Anonymous).

The photographs that you also posted are lovely......especially the one of both brothers as pups.

We have 3 separate cemetaries on our property, the dogs, cats, and birds. I don't think I will ever be able to leave here without taking them all with me which is why we've decided on cremation for future needs. As it is, we're going to have to hire someone to get them back and take them to the crematory. We surely won't be able to do it ourselves, especially with Lulu, Thunder, and Mikey (the cockatiel). (And not that any of the rest of them are any less valuable). W wants to move but we can't leave our kids behind. So if you think you might be moving later, this might be something to think about.

To all of you near the fire area, I will be thinking of you and hoping for some calm cool weather to help get the fire under control. What a job those firefighters have.

Troth, I hope you will post some of your pictures when you get back. I am sure that you will have a wonderful time - there is so much history to see. I am sure you will also feel very safe in Scotland. Terrorists, etc. don't seem to want to mess with the Scots, they must have seen the movie Braveheart!! However, the Scots do seem to welcome American tourists with open hearts and they are very hospitable.

All the best, LB

I just read Kath's loving words about Larry from last night's post. Larry chose a beautiful ending to his journey--and what a way to make it easier for Kathy, Rex & Family. Thank you, Kath, for posting the photos. Larry will always be with you.

There is some part of me that loves an animal without ever having known it. Maybe this is what holds our group together; this trait of love?

After Slug died, I could not walk over the rug he slept on. It was out of habit. I knew he was gone, but it felt like he was still there.

Kathy & Rex: Our prayers are with you and yours and of course Larry!

I think that was some of my hesitation in adding to our family again. And since then, I can't imagine our lives if Trinity and the birds were not a part of it and as always, I will strive to have full days, create great moments and memories to cherish foever and love them unconditionally!

Kathy and Rex, we know your pain and our heavy hearts are with you. It is the animals that bind this group together.

"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened"

“The purity of a person's heart can be quickly measured by how they regard animals”

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”

“Animals are reliable, many full of love, true in their affections, predictable in their actions, grateful and loyal. Difficult standards for people to live up to.”

“He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.”

Linda, Thanks. I am so excited. . . 3 days and 11 hours and 33 minutes. . .
I have been reading about the history of my children, the Graham clan, they were also feared by all who crossed the borders. So maybe the Scots have the reputation that you need not try to terrorize them as they will give you a fight back. I know my chldren are very firey and stand at battle whenever challenged. Gotta love 'em.

I have such mixed emotions today, with the excitement of my trip and the sadness of Oz's and my friend's pets having to leave us. I just reread "The Rainbow Bridge" that HB was so kind to resend me and I am all teary eyed as I pass it on to my friend. These are times when we should not have to stand alone and thanks to all of you, we need not have to, thank you for that.

HB: Didn't see your post as I was posting, these are great words, I love them, I am passing these on as well.
