ED: I have to do my womanly duties and iron my master's clothes for work. Do we have screen shots?

(I can feel the collective cringe in the audience)

They didn't stay long, but it was fun watching the 2 adults on the nest. The first one was #69.....soon joined by another that appears to be smaller (the male?)

Posted Image Posted Image

The one in back appeared to be tidying up a bit.
Posted Image Posted Image

Then turned around to face the same way as #69.
Posted Image Posted Image

Then there was one.....no wingblings. Does #01 have wingblings? or is this the other female?
Posted Image Posted Image

Seemed to be looking around and calling out to ???
Posted Image Posted Image

And then there was none.

HB: I told hubby I don't buy clothes that need ironing so if his did - he better learn! He did learn - it's called cleaners!! :D :D I'll happily drop those shirts off and even go pick them up for him but that's the end! I had to do all the ironing growing up (it was one of my chores - and there were 6 of us) so I don't do that anymore! I revolted

ED thanks for the great photos! I could watch for hours - oh wait I do don't I.

Eagle Duo, great shots of the nest! There sure is a lot of activity on that nest. According to the IWS website, the unmarked bird is probably the other female.

"The original male disappeared before the 2006 breeding season at the age of 25 years old. He was replaced by a 6-year-old male (#01) in 2006. The two females are 20 years old. One female has orange wing markers with "69" printed in black. This helps us identify individuals. The other female has a silver band on her left leg."

They don't mention any wingblings for the second female, nor a number.

Kathy, I am so sorry about Larry. {Big hug}

I have read that about the new male being called #01, though I've never seen it with or without wingblings, so wasn't 100% sure if it still had them. Maybe it's just that the 2nd adult on the nest was in back that it looked so much smaller than #69. Whichever it was, it was fun watching the two of them on the nest again today. At any rate, this is beginning to seem like a daily ritual for this nest. Will just keep watching and see what happens!

FYI Everyone

They have listed the top 10 finalists in the Hero of the Year Award on Animal Planet, Peter was not one of them, although he should have been. Hey we tried.

http://animal.discovery.com/convergence/he...s/nominees.html

There are some pretty heroic people listed.

Side note, 9 of the 10 are women, roaring in numbers ladies, roaring in numbers. . .

Wow, Troth! I'm disappointed that Peter wasn't nominated, but what a group of worthy nominees! Thank you for posting this. I was expecting some nominees to have been directly tied to Katrina and don't see any right of the bat. I only read the full text of the last nominee---who is pretty amazing.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe the Montrose settlement, which initially was quite large, could have made it more difficult for Peter to be a contender? I wonder if any of these other individuals are connected to that kind of funding? Just a thought.

Good Afternoon all....Hulabird what wonderful words brought tears to my eyes again...I think that this forum is held together by eagles #1 and by the fact that we all are animal lovers in some form. It is truly such a support and comfort to know that we are there for one another. Although we have never met, I bet we could pick out one another out in a room like that.! We would talk as if we had known one another for years! That's how I feel ;)

Just got back from lunch in Napa at Bistro Don Giovanni..great place great food. It was a lovely day in the wine country! Stopped off at Costentino to pick up some wine and well of course a few tastes! The weather is great, mild and warm and thank goodness the fires have been held back, no wind today. Enjoy the rest of your day :)

You know, I thought this very same thing especially when I watched the DVD and they talked about the funding. But the Catalina Project is not being funded anymore so I was hoping that the winnings could go to the Catalina project. And of course, Peter going to Hawaii to possibly being mantled by Hulabird. Oh well, like I said we sure did try.

ED--I also forgot to thank you for the photo captures. You know they are ALWAYS a welcome sight! I have two nests on, but wasn't viewing at the right time. I'm really pleased about our being able to help Cumbrian. Maybe we'll have to work out a Spring Screen Capture Schedule. Lol!
